yes, there are signs up, and there have been white chevrons painted on the speed bumps - but spray painted on, so probably just temporary till they can get the 'proper' street marking paint done.
there were already three or four signs on approach to the school anyway, so i guess a new one would be less likely to pop out than one standing completely alone.
this is one of my all time favourite road safety signs, probably not much more than 1km away. not only did they use the wrong form of 'your', they managed to misspell it at the same time.

There was obviously an illiterate sign writer doing well for himself in that general area, Hollystown Golf Course still has the sign up with "Smile your on camera" whilst there's a few, albeit hand written, on the road from there to Ratoath along the lines of 'you're dogs are killing sheep..", something along those lines anyway.

Yes there are other forms of driving dangerously, but they dont relate to speed - e.g. dangerous overtaking.
To be fair - and I know this from the cycling - if a road is bad enough (narrow, big hedge rows, windy, poor surface) then cars will avoid it regardless of speed limit. Its remarkable how you can cycle around certain parts of Ireland and barely see a car - and then you come to a main artery and they are non stop.

Its a great facility but the costs, double the cost of a parking permit, just seem counterproductive
as i mentioned on that other thread - my assumption is that it's simply down to more infrastructure required for the bike bunkers. but to me it says more about how cheaply we value public property (for car parking) than it does about the cost of the bike bunkers.
€50 a year to store your car on a public road is far too little. that's probably about 10% what the owner would be paying in insurance, for example.
Cycling, as I see it, is a luxury for the gentrified upper-middle classes who can afford to live within gentle whizzing distance of central Dublin: a lifestyle humble-brag masquerading as mass transit.

i don't see the article online, but the irish times weekend magazine has two pages about cargo bikes with different peoples' experience of them.
The paper has a tradition of disproportionate coverage of minor events in exactly the areas he's talking about.
Nevertheless, cycling has about 13% of modal share in Dublin city centre, and majority of trips in Ireland are under 3km, so even by his own slanted framing, it's a useful option for many currently and potentially many more.

It depends on what you regard as "gentle whizzing distance". I see plenty of people cycling 7km in to the city centre on my route, and a circle of that radius centred on the city centre encompasses about 40% of Dublin's population, so it doesn't sound that exclusive.

Its funny because motorists (Ed Power etc) talk about cycling in the same way they do about Tesla drivers or BMW drivers; as if people cycle around the place as he says as a 'humble brag'. As if, why cant they just drive like the rest of us, they only cycle to show off.

i know some cyclists probably get tired of the 'how much?' questions journalists raise - but one simple comparison is that you can buy a new battery powered 5 seater MG car for less than four times what one of the people interviewed for that article paid for an e-cargo bike. which is nuts.
granted, that's a high end e-bike compared to the cheapest battery powered car on the market (possibly), and there are probably large differences in economies of scale in play - but it's still a remarkable discrepancy.
It's true, but also works both ways... for example I pass a Used 4x4 showroom (Kilmac, N11) on my commute every day. Range Rovers with prices of €170k in the windows. You could get a very decent house/ apartment in Dublin/ the suburbs for 3 of them. A house. To live in. Forever. In the middle of a housing crisis. For a second hand Range Rover.
For 3 second hand Range Rovers. I think MB chose the cheapest electric car he could find to make the point.
What would the equivalent be for your scenario, a Dacia Duster? How many of them equal a 3 bed semi in Dublin?
