For that US and EU and NATO should designate Russia as a hostile country at the very least, and treat russian influence accordingly - that means russian media, businesses and political meddling being actively repressed, and yes that includes questionable businesses like Revolut and Kaspersky. And of course things like politicians retiring to Gazprom jobs should end up with long years behind bars.
The US were not funding starlink at that point.
Even not at war, I'd wonder if the US officials are quite pissed at Musk. Iike back during the cold war days when US citizen did something that could potentially help the soviets. He's a security risk, and acting like a child with who has tantrums.
I would not be surprised if very privately, he's getting a stern warning.
If not he should be.
Had he signed a contract at that stage in the war?
Do we know what contract he signed?
If you put yourself in his position you might have felt ( or had been )threatened with assassination by Putin(I think he did personally threaten B. Johnson) and he may also have feared nuclear armageddon if Crimea was attacked then.
Plus how do we know that he wasn't operating on a nod and a wink from the Pentagon?
For various reasons I don't think he should be in the position he is in but I don't know how he can be winkled out (or removed more forcefully)
USA is not at war ,otherwise he could be found guilty of treason ,possibly.
I'm not defending him, I'm just saying that this kind of action should be assumed by the US as a state, not by a private corporation or individual - and the US went to great lengths to distance themselves from any direct action on Russia, including preventing Ukraine to directly attack Moscow with American weapons. And I don't think he signed up any contract that would put him on the number one russian hit list.
So I would ask more from the US and NATO and less of private corporations and individuals.
I make that $87.6 billion per year. Herr Putler will already be looking for massive subs from the oligarchs.
My (non economist) gut feeling is that Russian government finances will start to become the major factor, the question is when. I can't see the Russians paying that much for another 3 years of military operations in Ukraine. Where are they going to get that much financial credit? 🤣
Horsesh*t. Musk signed a contract with the US military for that exact purpose he knew exactly what the starlink was to be used for. Musk prevented the missile cruisers being taken out of the war and the missiles that were fired from them killing civilians in Ukraine. His profoundly arrogant actions mean he has blood on his hands.
How many rubles does the war cost?
Pfff...they're not liberating anything ever again. It will take them half a century to rebuild their battered army, by which time Russia might well have returned to the swamp it came from.
... including stocks left over from 2 nd world war ...
I read that as "sticks", and quickly told my brain to be quiet before it give the Russians any ideas.
This is complete disinformation. What is actually going on is that Finland and USA are currently negotiating a DCA (Defense Cooperation Agreement), since Finland joined NATO recently. If it is accepted by the parliament, then USA will be able to access facilities in Finland for training, equipment storage and the like. Nothing regarding nuclear weapons has been agreed, and won't be - it is just the usual Russian disinformation sources who are trying to push this lie. The source also states the president has confirmed all this - what he actually said was "The DCA will lead to the fact that there will be at least some kind of American presence in Finland". In any case, it won't be up to the president to decide.
More about the agreement:
Link to the president's interview:
If you look at the map, Rovaniemi isn't exactly in a threatening position to Russia - they've had bases much closer for ages.
"Russia’s redeployment of frontline forces to bolster its “degraded” units in Ukraine’s south-east is probably hampering Moscow’s ability to carry out offensive operations in other frontline areas, the UK Ministry of Defence said in its latest intelligence briefing. The ministry said Ukrainian troops had advanced into the “multi-layered” main Russian defensive line east of the town of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region."
And some muppet were posting about great Russian advances lol. How they parrot Russian propaganda,
He may be a dope and a kunt but it's unfair to blame him for not wanting to step forward and aid in a major military operation that could have resulted in him wearing a huge target on his back. If anyone is to blame is the US government who requested this unofficially through some back channels, that is without assuming responsibility for such direct involvement against Russia.
No cop on or business head on him at all, apart from becoming the richest man on earth and tipped to be the first to be a trillionaire, he is a dope.
Frankly, a required reply for anyone playing tankie or contrarian. Straight from the horse's mouth. They are invaders, they want to restore the USSR and bar Hungary the east of the EU know damn well what's at stake in Ukraine.
Officially no BUT. Unofficially you would not know what’s going on. This reminds me of the Russian side . It has the REPUTATION of (1)having an endless supply of all types of weapons including stocks left over from 2 nd world war - which are still quiet lethal in the right" hands
(2) Having Nuclear arms that are the envy - qualitatively and QUANTITATIVELY - of most modern states
(3)having an endless supply of soldiers to increase numbers at the front line when necessary, replace those being killed/ MIA, etc
(4) all Russians are fighting/ supporting for their MOTHERLAND 100%
But the opposite in turning out to be the case re the above points . As the saying goes ‘ you are only as good as your last game’
And for those who advocate peace talks with Putin in the mistaken belief that he will actually stop his warmongering ways and Europe is safe...https://twitter.com/i/status/1700441470182838679
Does ukraine have reserves left to exploit any breakthrough?
The ukrainians have published that theyve taken the town of Avdivka, to the north of donetsk city ,
Is there a chance they could encircle it ? I know the airport is "in the way " and thats been hotly contested since 2014 .. but if there's a risk of having Donetsk cut off, the Russians would need to reroute troops yet again - spreading themselves thinner again ..
Highly unreliable source there.
For clarity, deployment of nuclear weapons in Finland is prohibited by law, and Finnish people are overwhelmingly opposed to them.
Something to delight the cockles of Medvedev's nuclear loving heart!!!

Under no circumstances should they be connected back to SWIFT. Sanctions are working.
I see his latest SpaceX launch was suspended until regulators are happy. I reckon official screws are been turned on Musk to remind him that he is not a country.
Oh, here we go again, the fog of war. It keeps EVERYBODY GUESSING as to what exactly is happening
And another explanation from Putin,,,how the west tricked him into invading Ukraine.

I remember a while back seeing pictures of Ukrainian sea drones floating up to the shore near Crimea. It would be very strange for Ukraine to launch the drones for an attack if they did not think they could maintain their course and hit their targets and do something to help stop putin's navy launching missiles into Ukraine. Those images of the drones that were made useless point to something unexpected happening as if those drones were reliant on starlink to maintain their course then it would have made no sense to launch them without starlink being active all the way to Crimea.
The US government in my opinion needs to investigate if this failure was caused by the starlink system they have paid SaceX to use to give connectivity for Ukraine being disabled. If it proves to be direct action by Musk to prevent Ukraine defending itself by striking military targets being used to murder civilians then he is complicit with the murders being carried out by putin's navy since than. If proved true he should be brought to justice and required to pay for what amounts to treason and aiding the murder of civilians in Ukraine. An ally of putin should not be working for and paid by the US government. How many innocent civilians have been killed and injured by putin's navy launching missiles at Ukrainian cities since the drone strike failed?
Russians under pressure.
This thread is for anything russia related not just the war. Musk's interference and bringing state secrets from a Ukrainian general to a Russian agent is worthy news of this thread even if it triggers Elon fanboys like yourself.
Indeed, the sooner the better. And as regards the Swiss arms & related industries inc finance, at times of crisis you find out who your friends are.
The Swiss have been notably unhelpful towards neighbours in Europe. No point in having an armaments industry if the product can't be used when needed. No point in doing further business with Switzerland.
