You owned an Etron GT or drove one? Different class….
I am referring to their EV’s
I’d agree and I’ve had the every day A4 to the S3. Great cars but not special unless your uk at the higher levels of costs IMO. S8, Q8, GT etc
Build is good in general though.
I was never particularly an Audi fan, but I think you are being a bit hard on the make...
😋
Is an Audi not just a rebadged Skoda or VW? Wouldn't have thought they were anything particularly special,.not from my experience of test driving some and being in many different ones over the years. They're not exactly Bugattis or Ferraris.
Realistically you cant expect an accurate answer. Look on Donedeal for indication of price and usually better value will be found from the private sellers (as long as you don't need to secure finance. With the Tesla Warranty you should feel reasonably comfortable with a private sale. As to what Tesla will do in 2024 to Inventory prices is anyones guess.
You simply can’t compare Audi to a run of the mill mass produced car as someone else said apples and oranges.
What should one expect to pay for a low mileage 2022 Model Y Long Range privately or from tesla inventory in 2024?
Mini was a 2nd car as my wife didn’t like driving a car as big as the Audi. Somehow the Countryman was more acceptable (lol).
The MC isn’t a bad car but quality certainly a step down from its BMW cousins INMHO.
The auto gearbox is shocking though on takeoff sometimes but don’t know if this is related to the hybrid elements.
I think I have my wife convinced to trade it in for the new M3 highland when it comes out. Fingers crossed 😂
Good to hear that you found the quality to be equivalent. I had the Q5 for 10 years (from 2012) and I really enjoyed it as an every day car. Really looking forward to my MYP though.
Am with you on the Q4 etron…it didn’t do anything for me at all when I drove it.
My best car pre MY was my Q5 , built like a tank and extremely quiet , but also had the efficiency of a tank.
my next buy after the Q5 was the Q4 etron , which while standard Audi looking on the outside was not premium on the inside, with lots of scratchy plastics, and annoying rattles. (I think i bought the first Q4 in ireland at the time so maybe it was early production issues.
premium wise, the My isn’t far off the Q5
Q5 to countryman seems like a move with a story, but then I really just like Audi and dislike mini
For what it’s worth my car history is as follows and I had, what I perceived as quality issues, with all bar the Audi Q5.
VW Golf MK4
BMW 120d
BMW 320D
Audi Q5
Mini Countryman PHEV
IMHO as long as humans are involved the build process then there is potential for error and imperfections.
100% agree.
Im in a Merc WL163 group and that would turn you off the car but hey. They are limos of mechanical bits all trying to work on harmony.
TBF i brought Merc, BMW, Audi into it. Making the point that TESLA has a community, and that while there are issues, communities on social media inevitably drive awareness and discussion about pros and cons. If 30% of merc owners were in a single facebook group there would be lots of "build quality" issues, rattles, and misaligned panels that require a laser to spot.
This is an EV thread and you brought Mercedes into it. Merc EV is about €100k.
Apples and oranges.
Tesla is a mass produced, high tech, high performance car. It’s not a premium car like Mercedes.
Who's comparing ev to ev. I'm comparing build quality at the price point for new vehicles.
Comparing new EV for new EV though.
You can pick up a Model 3 for €25k now too.
Tbf not all mercs are 100k. Can pick up a 23 AMG A for around 60k.
These are only 40k now. They weren't a few months ago.
Why compare a €40k car to a €100k car?
Bit silly no?
Who's upset? It's Friday. It's sunny. Just find odd gate keeping conversations in a forum made for.... conversations.
Enjoy the weekend my man. Its beautiful out
Sorry, with how disappointed you are with the build quality of them I assumed you were driving one and they hadn't helped you.
Clearly they haven't met your standards and you've picked something else, fair play to you, bit weird for you to be so upset about people who do own the car who feel the build quality meets their expectations of a mid market vehicle.
Are you only allowed to own a Tesla to talk about them ? Fairly cult like Liam no. This getting parody
Did they fix your issues or not?
I'm not finding the build quality in my car particularly different to the Cupra my ex-wife bought, or the Mini I was previously driving. I'm sure if I compared it to a luxury brand like Mercedes I'd be disappointed.
You'd have to enjoy how Tesla known for their poor build quality is unknown to some tesla owners .
I'd imagine teslas response is the same as any they arrange an appointment to review the issue. This doesn't negate the widely known build quality issues.
But imagine Mercedes owners on a forum sharing tips and ideas to address and self repair issues with their brand new vehicles. You have to admit that is hilarious stuff.
That's that weirdest part Liam.
Both service calls done under warranty
Meant to ask if they charged you for the service calls or were they carried out by a ranger under warranty?
Thanks
What was Tesla's response when you reported the issues with your car? Sounds like you got a particularly bad example compared to the rest of the owners
Not sure my view is that bizarre, others seem to agree with much of it. The fact EVs are so silent is certainly a factor too which others have mentioned.
Tesla owners are massively bought into their car compared to other groups in my opinion too - there are probably 3-4,000 tesla in Ireland now, and nearly 30% of the owners are on a single Facebook group, that is absolutely massive. I dare say 3% of BMW owners are in a single Facebook group, building a sense of community, talking about their car (and its pros and cons and rattles) on a daily basis. Social media causes things to be overblown. Overblown doesn't mean a gripe is not genuine, but it can mean a minor gripe is believed by a mass of people to be a unique or major issue when it is not, and it is normal and entirely comparable to peers not at the front of mind or top of discussion.
Good point made above, the 50k car today was the 25k car a decade or two ago. The joys of inflation. A fairly standard Audi A6 or Merc C or E class is 85K now - cars that are regarded as well built.
I dare say I wouldn't bet the house that an 85,000e Audi doesn't have the odd rattle either.
Of course major rattles, or major panel alignment errors warrant attention. However, there absolutely will come a point where TESLA, like others, will tell people to take a hike over some of the issues raised. You cant run a profitable business and have a ranger driving around the country to fix some of the gripes people are currently getting fixed (a good thing for customers but not sustainable). I hope when that point come the service isn't complete done away with - disadvantaging owners with material issues.
Will grab my coat and tin hat, as no doubt not a popular view 😉
I don't think I'm less sensitive to car noises, but my "lower quality, Freemont build" 2019 M3P has luckily been perfect from day 1.
Only creaks were coming from the front suspension and the parts were replaced under warranty by Tesla Ranger at around 40k km.
Even the legendary 183k km 2020 LR sold for "25k plus fees" to a boardsie was rattle free. Hmm I guess Freemont cars were just better 🤔
But I'm not going out of my way to post about my experience, hence what you see online is probably overblown.
Indeed it sucks to have creaks and rattles on a 40k+ car.
You can replace Tesla with any manufacturer in the same price bracket here. Go look at the bmw i4 page, the ID4 page. Owners on the FB group etc
These are just from the last 2 weeks and I haven’t copied the posts about software crashes, charging or working, timers not working etc
These things happen in all cars. The internet is great as it’s people like you that only post the problems. There’s millions that go about their daily route without issue at all. But hey, it’s ok if your glass is half empty while many others are half full. That’s your persona and you’re entitled to it.
