A new thread for a new season! 🍂
Gentle/fine start to Autumn in Greystones.
27 degrees popping up now at 1pm. If it stays clear the record shall be broken
26C now at Dunshaughlin and Dunsany, record smashed for the second time this week! Easily the warmest day of the year, I reckon a 27C is achievable here and those are rare as hens teeth in Meath any summer.
Villain's station in Tullow is at 29.2C . I believe Met Eireann regard it as a semi-official weather station, as in they trust the readings and will mention anything significant recorded there but wouldn't use it for official records etc.

Sat out in the garden at lunchtime. It's the hottest I've felt this year. Didn't even feel this warm when we were in France for two weeks back in July. 🥵
My phone is currently reporting 26C but a real feel of 29C due to the added humidity so today is easily the hottest day I've felt here since last July when we were chasing 33C.
Bottoms up to you Gonzo 🍻, now I wonder will the kells record for Meath go with a 27c. Certainly feels very hot
...
No rises for 2pm, pushing it tight now for the record
Alot of stations now on 27C but I don't see any 28s so I think 30C may not happen at this point at the official stations. Warming will probably peak around 3pm/4pm?
Bunclody, Wexford seems to be the hottest spot so far. 28.0C at 1400
Thinking the same. If we were 2pm in July I wouldn't mind so much but we've a narrow window before the sun dips in September.
Uppers a little lower than forecast a day or two ago.
I wonder will 28.4c from 1991 be beaten, that's still 50/50 to go.
Oh the streams of Bunclody they flow down so free,
By the streams of Bunclody I'm longing to be,
A-drinking strong liquor in the height of my cheer,
Here's a health to Bunclody and the lass I love dear.
Pathetic . Only 28 or 29c in September.
Look out for MT Dillon. It usually warms around 4 or 5pm. Could get 29c there.
Stuck at 25 to 26c in Sligo now. Won't beat record here anyways. Off to beach now as cooler tomorrow.
Some of my unofficial buds at 29c now.
July and August a washout and now we can only manage 28c in September. We're living in terrible times.
Mullingar record already beaten again now at 27. Twice in 2 days after 73 years. Impressive.
Ye I don't care what anyone says this is our summer ,it's just absolutely fantastic ,unfortunately this is the last day of the proper heat before a breakdown
27⁰ Meath. So hot. Kids have a football match this evening. Not looking forward to that. Prefer to hang out in the garden in this heat.
I saw a poster on Instagram post 18⁰ and all the haze and fog on Achill Island on Irelands warmest day Ooops.
My weather station in Longford tipped 28 an hour ago.
EDIT: Just checked there, its bang on 29.
27.6c in Kildare now with some clouds developing.
Trathnóna breá fomhair atá ann😊
28.1c oak park 3pm
Bunclody 28.3C
Oak Park 28.1C as mentioned above.
The window of opportunity for new Irish record is closing soon.
New provisional Northern Ireland though with 28.0C at Castlederg beating 27.6C from 1st September 1906.
4 official stations 27c in Donegal surprised given how cloudy it was until midday and sunshine hasn’t been constant since.
Well it's safe to say 30 is highly unlikely to be reached. 29 looks beyond reach too. Even though the nights are unusually warm, you still feel the drop off in temperature by 5 pm onwards. If we had this heat in July the dodgy Kilkenny heat record would likely have fallen.
Looking like no record for the Republic, Dooks' 29.0C in 2021 still higher too. Oh well, an absolutely stunning day and official heatwave conditions in September is not something you see every year.
I typed Kilkenny city into Met eireann website and it says its 30 degrees there now. Not sure how accurate that is but I know from frequent visits to Kilkenny during warm weather that it always tends to be a good bit warmer there than some nearby counties.
Come on sun, one last push, You can do it?
A nation holds it's breath.... for the 4pms
