Looks like we're going to have great weather for most of this which is excellent news.
Sunday potentially a wash out but a long way off so hopefully pushes out.
If anyones looking to offload weekend tickets give me a PM.
Playstation golf!
A pity there's no coverage.
I remember an interview with McGinley a few years back where he said Power was the best he'd seen coming up since Rory
He's 11 under for his last 12 holes at the ninth !
Incredible front nine from Sharma ! 7 under through 9 holes
How good could Mark Power be?
Any international channels where i can watch the coverage this morning?
Yes to the bag, and you can bring food/drinks but no booze.
Since the groups involving Rory/Shane are back to back and in the afternoon wave I'd say the crowds will be insane. My advice would be to maybe wait on a few holes if you really want to see a few shots of theirs. It's tough to follow them for the 18 as you'll see very little due to crowd size.
Enjoy!
... Heading tomorrow - what are the rules with bags... am I allowed bring in a school bag? If yes, can there be good /drinks? ...
...And how insane are the crowd's following Rory/Lowry/ Harrington...
Preferred lies were in place due to mud balls. While the fairways were replaced 18 months ago, the grass destiny is not quite high enough yet to prevent the ball picking up debris.
You know, I did have a lot of mud balls out there,” Lowry said. “I was pretty happy that they did that The fairways are very new. They're in great condition and the course in great condition, and they're some of the best greens I've ever seen in Ireland. So that was pretty good for me. They're pretty new and the grass is probably not as dense as they would like
Anyone know what time the tee times start on the Saturday?
Pampered players or poor groundskeeper?
Great to see fledgling pro Mark Power with a bogey free 4 under 68 including an eagle at the last. Very impressive today.
No just turn up. Running constantly back and forth
Had you pre-booked the park and ride?
The 8th and 9th aren't a bad option. You can watch shots into the Par 3 8th and walk down the 9th. Could stay around 9th green for a while which is right beside the tented village if you want to break the day with food and a drink. Toilets there too
Going with my Dad tomorrow who probably won't be able for too much walking. Likely we'll bring fold up chairs and set up camp in one or two locations.
Can anyone recommend some good spots?
I asked him where it was and he obliged with directions. He said they have asked for signage and directions to be displayed but it is falling on deaf ears
Every couple of minutes it seemed. No wait either side
How frequent are the buses to/from the park and ride?
It was crazy no park and ride on naas side of things
Did the guard force you back to the park and ride?
Just back home. While everyone inside the course ran smoothly, the lack of signage for the park and ride is a joke. I was coming through maynooth.
Eventually, had to just plough on up towards the course and get instructions from a garda. There was loads of people in the same boat doing u-turns. There were a couple of signs on the way back down, but not visible from approach on the other side of the road.
Crazy in perfect conditions. What was the excuse? Moisture on the ground someone said to me
Not a good look for the K club anyway! considering my club up the road is bone dry! and we are in a mini heat wave!
Placing in September, not a great look really is it
Why would the European tour restrict tv companies from showing the likes of Rory Mcilroy and Shane Lowry?
It's the European tour that control the coverage, not RTE. European tours Thursdays are always around 1pm. I am disappointed but it's not outside the norm
Outside of Rolex series Sky always start ET in the afternoon.
RTE should not be dependent on sky coverage when its being hosted here.
To be expected of RTE. Don't know the story with Sky. Strange.
Lowry lighting it up but no coverage.
As usual RTE coverage of a sporting event on the island is shocking.
