I'm taking a spin to the M50 Christmas shop on Saturday. We're apparently looking for slate or plant pots or something I really don't care about but I'm dying to have a nose at the Christmas stock!😀
I must admit, normally by now I'm getting cravings for the coming season & build up, what with the kids back to school, bits starting to appear in the shops etc. but between work & home commitments (& the improved weather) its very difficult to feel even remotely excited about the next few months. I'd love one of those idyllic arrangements you see so often on the TV where people have the time to relax into the season... we watched 'The Holiday' on netflix last night (randomly it was in Irelands top 10) and even that failed to raise my interest, its all still a little too soon (for me anyway) it seems.
I watched The Holiday 2 nights ago when it popped up on Netflix. It's a great movie but it did feel a tad too early.
Was actually the first time I'd watched it in its entirety.
When the weather was miserable in august and the schools were back I was very excited with the nice weather it’s slipping from my thoughts a bit.
Although I am beginning to dream about getting ready for Christmas so it’s burrowed in my brain somewhere.
Ah its always at the back of my mind somewhere too 😀
Gonna be a strange Christmas for me as we will either have a couple of days old new born or we will be a few days away from the arrival of elf number 2.
Not sure which outcome I’d rather more. Either way we won’t see 2024 without elf number two.
I don't live that far away from the M50 Christmas shop, we go there at least once a year, have you been there before?
So exciting, @Loughc! We were in the same boat a few years ago, baby due December 19th. Once Christmas Eve came, I said "you may stay in there now till I've had my Christmas dinner" 🤣 She stayed put until I had my St. Stephen's Day dinner too, lol! I like to think it's why she loves a Turkey & Ham dinner so much 😜
I've never been which is surprising since I lived within 5km of the place all my life! Every time I drive towards Ashbourne I say I should call in but I never did.
You'll love it, it's absolutely HUGE!
109 Days to go tomorrow, I still vividly remember the 300 days in the countdown, feel like only last month.
Same here! Must visit this year.
Had the Can't wait for Christmas August episode on in the car today and the little fella's (he's actually in 6th class, but still MY little fella) eyes nearly popped out when they said "only 3 months left".
My youngest brother is getting married later this month and I've been tasked with doing the wedding cake. My supplies order arrived earlier, and a few Christmas treat bags may have been added last minute.... Once this wedding is done and my BodySlims programme is underway it'll be a quick downward slide to Christmas. Hard to grasp how close it all is when you're sitting out in 25 degrees.
My friends child was born on Christmas day two years ago. What a way to spend Christmas day ha.
Don't forget to post some photos of the cake 😀.
Sunday week is day the rollercoaster hits its apex and we start hurtling towards the big day. Like you I remember 300 and 200 and the associated 299 and 199 days and they seem to have come around Incredibly quickly. We've had a tough and busy year though so I can see how the time has flown.
Feeling very unprepared for the coming madness mind!!
This has been a Red Bull year - it's got wiiiings 🤣
Did you get sorted with your IKEA delivery in the end? There is nothing like the annoyance of waiting all day for a delivery (or person) that doesn't show up!
I also feel this way. I more often lurk than post, but I can vividly remember posts about 300 and 200 days left. This year has gone by so fast!
Once we were having a sofa delivered.
I had the old armchairs thrown out in the garden and was about to start breaking them out.
Thankfully I didn't because the sofa didn't arrive.
Apparently they ran out of time.
This looks brilliant!!
John Lewis online christmas store is open.
Oh and 'Great!' Christmas movie channel launches today also! I know its on the Sky platform anyway, not sure about VM though.
It never arrived and after over an hour of trying to get through to them on Tuesday they said a truck must have broken down so they would deliver it on SUNDAY!!!!! Appalling customer service, the lady on the phone said she'd send me an email with details of the new delivery and I could respond to that to make a complaint - when the email arrived it said "do not reply to this email". I was furious at this stage but later in the day there was a heartbreaking tragedy at the beach where I go swimming so it put it in perspective for me. I might contact them today but it honestly doesn't seem important at all now.
that happened to us years ago with sofas we had ordered - when they arrived into the shop they were red leather instead of cream leather. We had gotten rid of ours so had nothing to sit on in our living room. They sent us out a horrible suite which we had for a few weeks. I had completely forgotten that 😂.
I was in Lidl this morning and the shelves where they always have the seasonal items were completely cleared out. I suspect it will be filled with all the Christmas stock in the next few days.
Oh @Cork Lass that story was truly heart breaking and the more details that emerged, the sadder it seemed to get, if that's even possible. My heart goes out to her poor family.
Or Halloween stock? Haven't seen anything of it in our local Lidl so far anyway. Though their Christmas stuff does usually start to appear in September to be fair.
Never thought of Hallowe'en! Although I'm not sure they get much Hallowe'en food items in, the aisle that is cleared is a food aisle, rather than a 'middle aisle'! I'll report back when it has been stocked.
