A new thread for a new season! 🍂
Gentle/fine start to Autumn in Greystones.
I can officially confirm that the weather in NCD is scorchio and has been since 11am this morning!
Clouds have disappeared in Lucan, but I don't feel any heat. Lovely blue skies. Grass is still wet.
3pm Phoenix Park the hot spot 24c
Yes I love that as well
Sunny everywhere else bar here 20c 😞
Glorious day in Tralee, in my lovely sheltered back garden anyway. No idea of temps but I was able to sunbathe and do everything outdoors in the skimpiest of summer clothes from about 10am until about 5.30pm. A bit cloudy this morning and chilly from 5.30 on but no complaints at all. The afternoon got sunnier all the way and gin blue skies for a finish. Very clear now at 8pm. Loving it!😀
This spell of weather is going to surpass the June warm spell in eastern areas. Met Eireann are going for 22C tomorrow and Tuesday and then 25C on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 24C next Saturday and Sunday for my location. The June warm spell certainly did not deliver a week of consistent close to mid 20s temperatures like that in Meath. In fact I haven't had a 25C at all this year and now we may get 3 of them this week. Of course all this will depend on cloud cover and how early the sun can burn off the clouds.
Peach of a day concluded by another epic sunset in Dublin.
This year will top it I feel.
I hope it does 😊
I hope the west gets warmer than the east just like in June because it was lovely 😍 either that or I'll have to go Dublin for a few days , also I wonder what the warmest September night is on record because some overnight lows this week isn't going below 17c
I don’t know. Met E don’t have those records on the website. I checked for the north and it’s 18.3c in September 1999 and they’ve never had a tropical night recorded there, 19.6c in august 2001 is their warmest night on record.
Ye I was doing the exact same thing checking met eirrean for statistics but couldn't find any maybe syran would know
Another stunner of a day ahead. Misty sunrise this morning at Portmarnock. Have a good day all.
Another beautiful morning in Kildare
19.5C at Merrion Square, Dublin on 6th September 2016 is the record.
Here they are for each month for future reference.
Doubt we will break the September record thankfully. Can clearly see the affects of climate change on that list. 8 out of the 12 months this century.
Foggy and cold autumnal morning. 8C. Getting fairly peed off by this consistent cloud.
Leitrim.
Average for 20th century 16.52, Average for 21st century 16.61, Average for all 16.58.
Maybe so, but surely more then just a coincidence as regards to those records.
Lovely calm and clear morning in Longford. Was very chilly earlier but becoming less cold now. Should get into the low twenties.
We are ahead of 2021 after 3 days and September has only 30. So with some locations averaging nearly 20c imt this week unless we get an Arctic plunge I can't see how we won't beat the 2021 record.
20.0c now in Greystones. Not a cloud to be seen.
Is this Saharan dust to SW or smoke from fires
Glorious in Cork :) breezy tho! Reminds me of the Canaries.
Unusually, Valentia is currently the warmest spot in the country with 23C at 1000 UTC.
Coincidence, natural variance, climategeddon, who knows.
Nearly midday and only 14c in Galway City.
It's way to early to know whether this will be a record month temp wise.
The mean temp always plunges from mid month onwards as the sun gets weaker and the nights longer.
A warm start to September isn't unusual at all.
If it's to be a record month the warm temps need to last well into the third and fourth week of September and it's too early to tell that.
Also, in September it's a delicate balancing act - clear skies and warm temps during the day can lead to quite chilly temps under clear skies at night. Already some places got down to 7/8º last night. If high pressure sticks around until the third and fourth week of the month, even under warm uppers you could easily see temps get as low as 3º or 4º on some nights, which won't lead to a record breaking month.
25 degrees at Valentia at midday :)
