Can you use self raising flour instead of the plain, and leave out the bread soda?
Considering less than half of flour is white, I'm pretty sure this wouldn't work. Bread soda is cheap and useful . Just use that.
I truly don't know. I'm as far from a baker as they come! Just follow the recipe blindly to be honest
Saw a Sriracha chilli & wasabi sauce in Aldi today. Anyone tried it?
Aldi skin on fries are my favourite however at €3.39 they will be a treat from now on
Bought the Mediterranean Wraps for last night’s dinner but they were very dry and broke/crumbled very easily.
Had them again for lunch today and a quick sprinkle of water on each side before you heat them up solved the problem.
It does have 'bigger bag' notes on it.
Is that actually factual? Has the price rise matched the quantity rise?
Anybody get the €40 3.5L airfryer from the website anywhere today? all they had was a 2.5L one that wouldn't even fit a toasted sandwich, it was tiny.
yeah, they used to be 800g, they are a kilo now. It's messing with my portioning
Saw Newman's Own mayos in three flavours in the special buys aisle today. I bought one called "hot dog" and it's nice and zingy. I love the brand and its quality products, hope to see more of them in Aldi.
That brand is around Ireland since the early 80s I'd say. My dad bought the salad dressing and the bottle was used for years for homemade salad dressing,so it feels like we always had it in the house. Think it was just the vinaigrette available then.
There is still very few NO products available nowadays in Ireland, at least in the big supermarkets. Tesco appear to have stopped stocking them altogether. That's a pity, because they are constantly very good quality and value, and basically an anti-thesis of a modern celebrity brand or a large brand in general.
Are they the crowd who made the sandwich spread in a little glass jar? I was never able to bring myself to try it as a kid!
Nooo.
You're thinking of Shipman's pastes.
Newman's Own was a food brand started by Paul Newman in 1982. Started with a salad dressing.
They were teeny tiny bottles, this was height of a jam jar but much much narrower.. Though those little jars were pretty..
To be on topic the aldi version of a Bueno, especially the double chocolate one is beautiful
Shipman's is still around I believe.
Jaysus, sandwich spread is something I haven't had in years.
I think it was basically salad cream with bits of veg in it!
Oh that's it!. How in the heck did I not remember heinz did it?. The vinegar smell meant I never tried it..
Barf in a jar basically
Think Aldi have it in the centre aisle still. Taste of my childhood, yum!
It's one of those things that has a taste that's very difficult to describe. Salad cream with a bit of vinegar and some carrot / cucumber I think.
I think it was considered posh back in the day!
Shipman's was a meat paste sandwich spread. Nothing like heinz.
(why am I even talking about Shipman's?)
Jaysus, that brings me right back!!!
My heart used to sink when I saw that on the table, it generally came out the day before shopping day. 🤢
School sandwiches from the 80's. Still available I've bought it in Dunne's and Tesco's just for the nostalgia 😀
The Aldi Sriracha and wasabi sauce is very nice. It’sa special along with a sriracha bbq sauce. I’ve had tge wasabi version on cooked chicken over the last few days and it’s gorgeous. Haven’t tried the bbq one but it didn’t taste great in a quick taste test but may improve paired with food.
There's a small counter selling lovely freshly made sandwiches in my local Aldi.
It's the Lidl Deli at Aldi
Did anyone get any of the wagyu steaks? I forgot all about them on Thursday and of course they were long gone by the time I did get in.
Some feedback on them here on last page

Thanks. Not really a whole lot to go on there. One person saying they didn't bother due to the lack of marbling and one other saying they prefer the regular steaks.
Wonder will they get them in again.
