Why would you be clamped if you were in a designated parking space and actually using the Aldi?
Anyway, good that you are walking to the supermarket 😉
For the last three years I've been looking out for it every time I set foot into an Aldi and always came away disappointed. I always thought to myself, how could they have something in UK Aldi that sounds so Irish, but not sell it in Ireland?
It has been described as tasting like boozy Milky Bars and I do love the taste of Milky Bar.
And there it was today, sitting on the shelf in its pearlescent white bottle and priced at €10.99.
Now, I haven't tasted it yet, but there's a bottle Ballycastle Limited Edition White Chocolate Country Cream in the fridge as we speak.
I hope it doesn't let me down!
You should try the Lidl one. I went in especially for one today.
You can use their slicers to slice it to the thickness you like.
Anyone else’s Aldi got trigger-happy clampers?
I’ve stopped parking in mine. I either walk or use the nearby on-street parking now.
Centra and SuperValu are the same shop really, it's just Centra is their convenience brand and SuperValu is their supermarket brand.
Sorry to throw yet another retailer into the mix but I quite like Centra's Sean's Brown Bread (Centra and Supervalu are both owned by Musgrave, I think?). I guess you've tried Centra's take on it?
I tried the Atlantic Wheaten bread that was suggested here following my earlier query about an alternative to SV Sean's Brown. It's quite nice - definitely the best of Aldi's offerings. None of their soda bread options are any good however.
The apple tart in Aldi is decent. Nowhere near home made but for around €3.20 it's decent. Bought a specially selected vanilla ice cream to go with it which is surprising bad actually. Definitely don't recommend that. It's in a small tub and produced in the UK.
Thanks. Not really a whole lot to go on there. One person saying they didn't bother due to the lack of marbling and one other saying they prefer the regular steaks.
Wonder will they get them in again.
Some feedback on them here on last page

Did anyone get any of the wagyu steaks? I forgot all about them on Thursday and of course they were long gone by the time I did get in.
There's a small counter selling lovely freshly made sandwiches in my local Aldi.
It's the Lidl Deli at Aldi
The Aldi Sriracha and wasabi sauce is very nice. It’sa special along with a sriracha bbq sauce. I’ve had tge wasabi version on cooked chicken over the last few days and it’s gorgeous. Haven’t tried the bbq one but it didn’t taste great in a quick taste test but may improve paired with food.
School sandwiches from the 80's. Still available I've bought it in Dunne's and Tesco's just for the nostalgia 😀
My heart used to sink when I saw that on the table, it generally came out the day before shopping day. 🤢
Jaysus, that brings me right back!!!
Shipman's was a meat paste sandwich spread. Nothing like heinz.
(why am I even talking about Shipman's?)
It's one of those things that has a taste that's very difficult to describe. Salad cream with a bit of vinegar and some carrot / cucumber I think.
I think it was considered posh back in the day!
Think Aldi have it in the centre aisle still. Taste of my childhood, yum!
Barf in a jar basically
Oh that's it!. How in the heck did I not remember heinz did it?. The vinegar smell meant I never tried it..
Jaysus, sandwich spread is something I haven't had in years.
I think it was basically salad cream with bits of veg in it!
Shipman's is still around I believe.
They were teeny tiny bottles, this was height of a jam jar but much much narrower.. Though those little jars were pretty..
To be on topic the aldi version of a Bueno, especially the double chocolate one is beautiful
Nooo.
You're thinking of Shipman's pastes.
Newman's Own was a food brand started by Paul Newman in 1982. Started with a salad dressing.
Are they the crowd who made the sandwich spread in a little glass jar? I was never able to bring myself to try it as a kid!
There is still very few NO products available nowadays in Ireland, at least in the big supermarkets. Tesco appear to have stopped stocking them altogether. That's a pity, because they are constantly very good quality and value, and basically an anti-thesis of a modern celebrity brand or a large brand in general.
That brand is around Ireland since the early 80s I'd say. My dad bought the salad dressing and the bottle was used for years for homemade salad dressing,so it feels like we always had it in the house. Think it was just the vinaigrette available then.
Saw Newman's Own mayos in three flavours in the special buys aisle today. I bought one called "hot dog" and it's nice and zingy. I love the brand and its quality products, hope to see more of them in Aldi.
yeah, they used to be 800g, they are a kilo now. It's messing with my portioning
