No huge surprise, there. Although if he does have doubles, could he not just send one of them in his place? Wouldn't that sort of be the point of them - to wheel them out to public appearances that might be dangerous?
Obviously, Putin hated Prigozhin's guts after Prig started mouthing off and then did that thunder run toward Moscow, but if polling is to be believed, only 8 percent of Russians believe that Putin had something to do with Prig's death, so him showing up to it wouldn't cause that much head scratching in Russia itself. Putin could even do a eulogy. I wonder if he's secretly a fan of Peep Show? He could quote this with contextual alterations.
Is it allowed to post juicy rumours here? Most stuff posted is of a serious nature, with ok-ish sources.
Go for it if you have a source. Just let people know about the source if possible. Sometimes they are right, sometimes they are wrong.
If it's a terrible source I'm sure it'll be clarified but you can't say "juicy" and not share either.
He is speaking about a Russia that existed a very long time ago, not Putin's Russia. If anything, he's pointing out the great differences between the two Russia's.
Where does he condone Putin's actions?
Nice
Except for the fact that it's the same Russia that Putin evokes.
He shouldn't even be in Russia spouting "peace" crap because the only peace is for Russia to withdraw and any other suggestion is appeasement.
Just an increasingly irrelevant figure trying to look important.
You'd have to see the full context of the statement to make a judgement. Nothing wrong with telling Russians to develop what is good in their culture. He might add 'And stop murdering people while you are at it'.
As the Pope, his mission on earth is Peace. What else should he be saying? Sure, I'd be happier if he was threatening Putin and Kirill with fire and brimstone if they don't change their ways, but I'm not one of his advisors. Of course Putin evokes a Russia that existed in the past, and one which he claims he is reviving, but that's just a cover for his mafia activity's, to legitimize them. in fact, Putin is in the very act of destroying the very Russia he claims he is reviving.
The hammer becoming the symbol of 21st century fascism, who would have thought it.
He didn't. The remarks about Peter the Great were given in Spanish, not Italian, and apparently were extemporaneous. I'd view it as something the Pope felt was true and important to say - why go off script? The majority Catholic countries adjoining Mordor are unhappy:
Oh I didn’t mean to do the teasing thing, I just saw some instances of rushist self-destruct behaviour near the front being reported on, and that will always make me kinda perk up. Will find and post.
Progress is definitely happening.
Hopefully true.
The beating will continue until moral improves! I reckon moral improved after that commander got a duffing.
"As the Pope, his mission on earth is Peace"
History would very much disagree.
This pope is famous for standing up to evil dictators I thought as was JP II so ya he could just come out and say Putin is evil.
Was that poll about only 8 percent of Russians believing Putin was behind Prigozhin death done by the Kremlin? No doubt we will be hearing shortly that the Russian investigation has established that MI5 or the CIA were actually responsible for Prigozhin's death. I hope remnants of Wagner throw their lot in with Ukranian intelligence and the Russian militia that attacked Belagrod(?) I don't think it will happen but one can dream
In Putin's Russia mysterious death are the leading cause of statistics.
Railway depot in Moscow
That gives a little more context. Thanks.
Comrade Stakhanov did over a 100 tonnes of coal in 6 hours with a pick and shovel.
It can be done
That's the new "Drain the swamp"
Dreadful video. I stopped after about max 10 minutes - the guys says Putin is mega popular because 85 % of Russians support him. Without asking the Q of how reliable a poll is in Russia. Like if Ireland was run by a Fianna Fáil dictator and the Fine Gael leader, let's call him Alaster Navalnaigh, is rotting in prison...and you support FG and they come to your door...are you going to say "Sure I'd vote for FG"...or will you say FF?
He may have some points but this kind of crap just makes him hard to take seriously.
The IMF saying the Russian economy will return to growth in 2023 is astounding. I've been reading about an imminent collapse in Russia for ages now, seems we are being fed a steady stream of horsesh it.
Another dramatic shot of the railway fire in Moscow
Your head could be in the freezer and your feet in the fire but on average you're comfortable.
I hope this is correct
It's normal for it to grow relative from the dip it took in 2022.
I haven't read anything about an "imminent collapse"? The Russian economy is certainly having issues, their currency has lost almost 60% value from this time last year, and that's with some pretty extreme capital controls and interest rates, they've lost their biggest energy customers (in Europe), they have to sell oil/gas at a pretty hefty discount, they are getting gouged by India/China, they are heavily sanctioned (which doesn't stop them getting what they want, however can make it more expensive and difficult), they've had to double their defense budget estimate for this year (it's probably significantly higher that that)
Any links to IMF saying that?
Was this on the bingo cards?
