There was a good condition C-Zero for sale a while ago, asking €3k. It remained unsold at that price for about 4-5 months. I'd say someone picked it up for around €2k.

They really should be a lot cheaper to buy than a Leaf as they are a step under them in every way, except for ugliness, they have the same exceptionally high score there 😂

I like the scraped off L plate on that one though, a smart young man or woman learnt to drive in it. Pointless spending all that extra money learning to drive a manual ICE car when they will be extinct soon.

€4,250 for an 11 year old small car is on the high side.

The 12 year old leaf for 3k is better value-wise but still not great

Remember these cars were 20k and 27k brand new

I remember buying my first car, an 11 year old Ford Fiesta for €1,200 back in 2010... If we want uptake of EVs then we need better second-hand value

Can't say I agree with that point in general. Even at the (certainly nothing like a bargain) €4k, the C-Zero will likely have a lower total cost of ownership than a similar size, age and condition ICE car costing half of that. And of course be better for the environment.

The uptake of EVs (I presume you mean people buying a cheap second hand EV as their first EV) is slow because people are ignorant of the above point about cost of ownership. And scared. It's human nature. People want things to stay exactly like they were yesteryear. And most people don't care about the environment until they feel the cost heavily in their pocket

On Total cost of ownership, the Czero wins for me, apart from a few leaf's I bought in the uk and sold at a small profit. Obviously haven't sold it so can't be sure of the total depreciation cost, but that aside it's been awesome.

I think I have had it 4 years, and in that time have NCT'd it once (passed with no issues) and put two tires on the front (which were €45 each plus fitting which is cheaper than decent tires for my bike!

That appears to have 4 battery bars left, i would say it has a range of 30 to 40 km?

Oh Jaysus, I didn't spot that. Far from a bargain then, thanks for the update, I would have hated someone to buy that because of my posting it. Range in winter you wouldn't even get 30km I'd say.

The car would still suit someone as a local car / for a very short commute but it would have to be dead cheap.

The photo shows range remaining of --- with 4 battery bars remaining, and also 4/12 battery capacity bars. The EV system warning light is on too. Most of those could be an issue with LCD refresh rate on the photo, but tread carefully as the photo also shows a missing Audio unit and vents which would indicate some work being undertaken.

And the ad says "Trade sale, no warranty".... for a car dealer to be saying that its a clear red flag if ever there was one.

I'd say its not even usable as a run around.

21k for a 3 year old car that size with 31,000kms

    Now that's a bargain

I paid that for my first leaf with slightly higher mileage

And better yet they would surely accept €19k or so if you negotiated a bit

Nice that has the range extender aswel, so probably 400km

I honestly would buy that today but damn that colour

Edit: Pre-revamp? Small enough range on that no?

Ioniq asking €12500, 2 full years NCT, the market is stale and a total buyers market at the moment. I'd say at a push you'd get that for €11k and at that it would be one of the best EV buys out there imho

    VW ID.3 1st Plus for under €24k

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/volkswagen-id-3-pro-2020/34896783

Same asking price as a 2021 Life spec. The 1st Plus was a decent spec for the price at the time so personally I'd take it over the newer one

Interior quality is a bit meh, but it's functional. I actually thought the fabric seats were nice but some people are obsessed with having some dead animal skin on their seats

Looks like the software is still the original version, so get the software updated to unlock the 130kW charging and fix a bunch of the bugs and you've a fine long range EV

I’d offer €8.5k in person and go from there😁

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 298 ✭✭eltoastero

To me that looks like good value. Compared to what equivalent golf you'd get for the same money (2020, <50k km, manual 1L TSI, trendline) I'd pick the ID3 1st plus any day of the week, a lot more car for the money.

The 1st Plus was over €40k back in Sept 2020 when we got our base 1st. 7k more expensive, but had the excellent matrix lights and reversing camera, etc.

Depreciation seems massive, but I suppose it has returned to a more normal level..

The early high spec ID.3s are amazing value right now. Anyone who can get their hands on a tour - it’s a bargain compared to the new asking price now.

3 year old 202 M3 LR for €31k, (half its original price?):

    high mileage

Not bad, but a regular on here got one recently for €25k (plus auction fees). I suppose that was sight unseen and the one you linked to is from a garage, presumably with a 1 year warranty. If you need the range, but not the risk, it's a good buy.

Edit: BTW didn't spot it before, but not sure why you call 118k km (73k miles) high mileage, the car will be covered by Tesla bumper to bumper warranty until the second half of 2024, so not really any added value from buying from a garage. So I change my mind: not such a good buy.

Start running fast if you make that €8.5K offer in person. I expect it will be taken as an insult.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,125 ✭✭✭✭unkel

Yeah it's just a silly offer really. I'm all for negotiating hard and getting a bargain, but an offer like that will get you nowhere.

Haha, if you don’t ask you don’t get. Me and my mate managed to get a €23k car for €17k recently. And before that I got a €9k car for €6k. And neither car was overpriced. Worst they can say is no.

That Tesla seems poor value to me. Any 3 year old car should be at least half its value when new, especially one with over 100k km’s.

New price is now just over €50k so Id really love a 3yr old LR for €25k. Unlikely though as not too many 3 year old cars losing 50% of new price

Before Covid it was all the norm, and seems to be happening again now that supply has increased.
