Renewed sim only bill pay plan with Three. Got a €10 discount per month for 12 months.

Just thought I'd let people know about this. Was on a 12 month contract sim only bill pay plan with Three which ended last week. Was costing €31.34 a month. Rang them up with the intention of switching to prepay for €20 a month.

Agent offered me a €10 per month discount for 12 months (now €21.34 pm) to continue on the bill pay plan, so went with that. It's better than the prepay option as you get a better calls to other network allowance, plus the EU roaming allowance is better too.

I'm on the 15 Euro 3 Hero plan which is unlimited everything. It's useful as you can activate it as you please, and not locked into a contract. 15 Euro seems to be standard these days.

With the prepay plans like the Hero, dont they renew every 28 days?

That would effectively mean you are paying for 13 renewals every year (i.e. 365/28=13), as opposed to 12 on a monthly billpay sim only plan.

Worth it if you need to drop off for a time period or swap networks and/or plans frequently, but long term billpay seems to offer better value.

Nope - you can renew as you please. It's not automatic. Sometimes I don't renew for a few days or so if I am working from home for days. I was abroad for a few weeks and renewed the next month when I came back.

I'm on this, switched from Vodafone, finding the quality really bad.

Reception very touch and go, internet also bad. Call quality bad. Much cheaper then Vodafone, but honestly feel like going back 😞

I'm also with 3 mobile for a few years now.

I have 4 x sim only plans that are registered in my name for myself, my wife and my 2 sons.

Up to last July 2023 I was on the €30 plan with €20 off for each number.

Then at renewal the price increased to €33 with a max discount o €15 off each number.

However, I was able to amalgate all of the numbers under a Family plan which gave a further 20% off. This discount actually comes off the full €33 amount.

Now I pay the following

€33 less €15 = €18 less €6.60 (20% of €33) = €11.40 a month.

So for 4 x sim only plans I pay €45.60 a month. This offer is valid for 12 months.

Probably because it's always a risk switching to a relatively unknown company. Lack of familiarity with customer support will always stop people switching. Nothing worse than needing customer support and discovering that it's awful or nonexistent. You could be left without service for god knows how long, or struggling with atrocious data speeds.

I'm in the same boat, just out of €35 per month, 24 month contract. They offered €30 first, then €25 per month on live chat but I refused. So they said their Loyalty Team will ring me Monday to see can they do better. I'll accept €20 for 12 months, but if they can't do that I'll look elsewhere.

Internally, Loyalty Teams are called the Retentions Dept. They're not rewarding you for loyalty, they're just trying to keep customers.

(Be nice to them, they're not gonna want to help someone who's cranky... but don't be fobbed off by a not-so-great offer, just say you'll have to think about it.)

It's not fool proof and no step by step guide but basically go into the Mobile service

Sim Applications and update the Going aborad and when abroad.

It might take a couple of times and turning off and on the phone but last few times I was all set up before leaving airport.

I havent been abroad in about 12 months, but I was told that they have fixed the issue with new sim cards if you order one. If that works or not, I couldn't tell you but might be worth trying.
