Prigozhin was confirmed to have been in Russia a number of times since his aborted march to Moscow, including this high profile appearance at the Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg in July that Putin also attended.
He wasn’t “wanted in Russia”, and could freely come and go (although clearly unbeknownst to him, Putin wanted him dead).
I'd say that immediately after Prigozhin's so called coup attempt, most Russians ( and others, too) would have considered Prigozhin to be a dead man walking.
It was always going to be the consensus conclusion that he was taken out no matter the method of his demise. Putin, at this point, doesn’t need to author his work with a signature.
And that was the first and only recorded clip of Prigozhin since the coup. It was yesterday seemingly and he posted a clip of himself talking of Africa.
There's a possibility the Russians had him dead after the coup and released this generic clip of him in Africa talking of Africa and then put his body on the plane.
We'd never know of course. But Putin's fsb regime love their controlled pantomimes. Whatever exactly. Who knows.
Very unfortunate what happened. No doubt the investigation will finish tomorrow and confirm mechanical fault or a bird strike.

The 2nd in command is Utkin, he was on the same plane. Belarusian telegram channels say that the mobile reception around Wagner camps is down. A Russian transport plane landed near Minsk one hour after Prigozhin's plane went down, this is the first transport plane in a month. In Rostov, all internal security (police and national guard) are being called up.

Doesnt look like an Embraer Legacy which has swept wings and engines attached to the rear fuselage. The aircraft in that video has straight wings with wing-mounted engines, looks like a military transport. It also seems to differ from other videos posted as there is a signficaint flames on view as it nears the ground, the other videos have primarily whiteish smoke but not much if any visible flame. Doesnt mean the other vids are legit mind, but they fit better. This one is certainly off.

Shot down or a bomb on board? It looks like the crash was more or less directly between Moscow and Petersburg, and usually there is quite a lot of civilian air traffic in that area . So my guess would be a bomb, unless the Russian Airforce were reckless enought to shoot a plane down in an area with lots of other traffic. But only in Russia......??
In the turmoil that followed Prigozhin's military convoy to Moscow, and subsequent turnaround, pandemonium reigned. All the top brass had frozen, not knowing what was going to be the result, and not taking any action because of this. They wanted to be on the "right" side of whoever won. Then you had a proportion of Wagners who were very unhappy with Prigozhin too because of what he did. So Putin bought time to take back full control.. moving against Prigozhin would have been a bad move back them. So he bided his time, and when he was good and ready, he struck, and had Prigozhin killed. ( this is the current news, but we will know in a day or two for sure )
Tis an awful pity the plane only hit a field. Would be great if it went down in Moscow like the drones.

Anything that's reported out of Russia can't be believed as a starting point. He could already be traveling under a Belarusian identify and some donor with his passport put on board. So many theories of what might have happened. That's the result of Putin's firehouse of falsehood. Guess we'll just have to see what happens. Private jets don't undergo the same level of scrutiny.
