This case had been absolutely harrowing for all involved.
Those poor babies and their families.
Words cannot describe the depths of cruelty at present here. My first child was born 6 weeks early. They are so delicate and helpless.
This vermin Lucy Letby deserves to rot
Probably had murderous fantasies since before she was a teenager.
They'll find more victims connected to this bitch.
It goes back much further than mid late 20s
The BBC's expert who has worked with murderers and serial killers says the intention to kill is there and they make a particular career choice to suit that
Sounds very sinister but it makes sense
You don't have a vocation to work in nursing and then suddenly turn into a baby killer
no you're not. it's all to easy to be a keyboard hero sitting there with a GnT. completely different matter in real life.
What I am unsure of is where they making claims (to management) of her being a danger due to incompetence or due to a her being a deliberate threat to the lives of babies? There is, of course, a clear difference between the two..I am thinking the former, hence her being put on admin work. If the latter then this should be straight to the police..
That’s not clear at all. What qualifies you to make that diagnosis?
She pleaded not guilty. She says she did not murder the babies.
Did she have any excuse at all? Was she saying that some higher power was ordering the killings, or that she heard voices, or that deep down she was doing a good thing or something? Just weird that the writings found in her house expressed her sadness about what she was doing.
If a whole team of paediatricians are telling me, the hospital manager, that they are deeply concerned about a nurse, then I’m going to be on the phone to the police before they even leave my office.
Has she ever in her whole life shown her true colours to anyone?
Parents or school friends must have seen something down the years.
One can't turn from a decent human being to a secret baby killer in your mid to late twenties.
i thought she was "an evil monster" not "little miss perfect" ???
Because she was guilty of those crimes, and nowhere near as clever and as manipulative as she thought she was.
Some people show remorse and please guilty.
She put countless families (including her own) and hospital staff through a 9 month trial.
Self delusional murdering fantasist is going to be lifed off on Monday and I take great pleasure in that. Not so little miss perfect after all
Quite a frightening thought
She pleaded not guilty
What's the relevance of "little miss perfect"
What would happen if the HSE hired a baby killer like Lucy Letby, or a killer of the elderly like the German nurse, Niels Högel?
The HSE pays out hundreds of millions every year for "medical negligence" cases which are flooding our courts but no medical staff are ever held to account. Are we certain that nothing more than negligence was ever involved in any of these innumerable cases? If medical staff reported to HSE managers about a suspicious pattern of "negligence", how quickly would the HSE call in the Gardai? And how long before the Gardai could put together a file and get the DPP to prosecute and the trial would come to court? Ten years, fifteen? Never?
Sad truth is a baby was brutally murdered in Ireland over 40 years ago but the DPP has been sitting on the Garda file for 4 months now. No one would ever have even asked a question about this baby except that the tide brought its murdered body back to shore. The Gardai made a pig's ear of their investigation which led to a Tribunal investigating a family who had nothing to do with the murdered baby and 38 years later the High Court quashed the Tribunal's report (or did something to that effect, who knows?). Through all of this, the murdered baby's parents said nothing, even after they were arrested and identified by DNA. Their solicitor has been all over the media complaining about the Gardai but our "public service" media never asked him about the baby's murder!
If that baby had died mysteriously in an Irish hospital, there would have been no murder investigation but the parents would have received a very large settlement from the HSE without admission of liability and with no accountability for the medical staff.
What choice had they?
She was never gonna go along with an insanity plea. Little miss perfect
No one does. Does that mean you ignore consultants when they raise concerns of that nature?
That consultants interview yesterday paints hospital management in a very bad light.
They ignored 7 consultants concerns over Letby and her daddy. More babies died because of it.
Was she diagnosed with anything? Has she a history of psychiatric issues? Not that I heard. Her defence may well have tried to paint her as mentally ill (whatever that actually means these days), but were not able to.
She pleaded not guilty, hence the defence that she did it due to a mental illness is not really available. She wasn’t claiming that she did it, or did it due to being mentally unwell. She says she did not harm or murder the babies
Even her friends believe she could not have done this due to her being a really good person.
There seems to be no reason for it other than her being an evil monster for the period of time she decided to murder babies.
no i would not agree with that. but that said it clear she has deep psychological issues. probably Munchausen syndrome by proxy, but i am not a shrink. personally i think her defence counsel did a very poor job in not highlighting this from the outset.
Obviously. Half of them true and the other half embellished or made up because the British press excel at this sort of stuff.
i disagree. it's all too easy to be clever in hindsight. let's be honest here, who expects a nurse to kill little babies?
Criminal charges. parents should not be involved with an adult. How the feck they agree to that?
Sacked at minimum and jail.
I'm presuming you're pulling the pish here?
Gonna be more of these stories coming out I bet
Management are not complicit in the murders
That would actually be great if they could face those charges.
They facilitated these crimes and share culpability.
Like they drove the getaway car.
They should be charged as accomplices, actually.
It’s a perfect illustration of what bureaucrats will stoop to, in order to avoid breaking their daily routine.
Crappy people who I hope will be shamed by their neighbours, etc…
Hospital management has a lot to answer for
Maybe send your analysis on to Letby’s lawyers, I’m sure they didn’t think to make a defence like that about the prosecution’s evidence during the 9 month trial.
Given he was an ugly old man, and not an attractive young woman, my guess is no
In a way, she’s the real victim here
