Haha I loved mine but it ended in catestrophic engine failure.
Did it? Lord I'm shocked to hear that 😉😉
Definitely a case of they all do that sir...
I saw my old one for sale on Dungdeal a few years ago and was amazed the piece of SH 1T was still running!!! I
hated that car so much.
Anyone enquired about this Ford Fiesta yet? https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/ford-fiesta-steel/34588407
Looks tidy with a long(ish) NCT but the ad's been up for over a week. The 089 number and relatively new DoneDeal account are making me suspicious.
Changed ownership 1 month ago.
A car being for sale 9 days is not a red flag
Being 17 years old I can't see it suiting a new driver, nobody will insure it.
Well I'm not a new driver but I got a quote of €335 for fully comprehensive cover. That was the first one I tried as well, I haven't even shopped around yet.
When it's considerably cheaper than similar examples I'd say it is. The fact that the seller has a relatively new DoneDeal profile and a burner 089 phone number doesn't exactly inspire confidence either. Alan pointed out that the current owner has only had it for a month - what does all of this tell you? I've been looking for a cheap car to tide me over for a couple of months and I've noticed anything that looks half-decent with a recent NCT seems to sell within a couple of days (often within a few hours).
New driver wouldn't, I couldn't even drive it on my extension as it's over 15.
I said a car not being sold after 9 days isn’t a red flag. I didn’t say anything about the new account/089 number.
Car market is slow at the minute, a lot of people are on holidays or just back. I have a few cars for sale under market value for a while now with no bites.
Do you still have the tt
I hope your not talking about that overpriced one from last Summer cause that’s certainly not me😂
Remember that one
No, I remember a while back you mentioned you had one - was/is it green ?
It was blue, 3.2 quattro. I sold that last Summer. Was looking for something to replace it with this year but couldn’t find anything
Hard car to replace in fairness.
Anything interesting? Especially in the Banger category? Watched few cars and Gods help me, people expect gold for rust driving mud buckets.
I have been using an 089 number for years now, didnt know that they were viewed as 'burner phones'.
So i'm back. Prius unfortunately for me doesnt work. Any other auto in banger range worth checking?

Corolla
Are photo # 1 & # 10 of different cars? One navy & one black
Judging by the different number plates yes they are two different cars
Could be a mistake by someone who is blue/black colourblind perhaps? Although you would have thought that one being a 2007 and the other being a 2008 would negate that.
So along with being colour blind, they are dyslexic and have more than one Corolla too... ok sounds plausible 🤣.
Clean car inside and out, I'd hate to see what his dirty cars are like😡, that yoke's a skip...
The seat fabric in those year Toyotas are notorious for staining very easy - nothing a wet vac or a scrubbing brush and hot water wouldn't sort.. He probably has a few cars for sale and doesn't put effort into a car only priced at over €2k..
Also just to add I put the same effort into selling a car for €500 or €5000..
These type of car adds are possible bargains - as said by many a YouTuber I watch and exactly the kind to look out for. The corolla only passed the nct a month ago
There is loads wrong with the add.. The heading says 09 where its actually a 08..another corolla pictured wrong in the add... Not a great description in the add.. Doesn't look to have cleaned it at all.... Actually worth a look tbh
I’ve said it before but those are the types of adds you need to look for if you want a bargain.
You’ll rarely find a bargain if your only looking for cars that have been spruced up in litres of tyre and dash shine.
Like you said, nothing a bit of elbow grease can’t sort, or a €50 valet if your lazy. At this end of the market the only thing that is important is that the engine & gearbox is healthy.
I'd agree 👍
If they didn't care about inside of the car what are the chances that they did care about rest of the car?
Look at the add... It's surrounded by cars... It's in a yard - not a garden of a house.. He even has another corolla in the add by mistake.. My guess is he got the car for cheap possibly fixed an issue with it and is now selling it with a fresh enough new nct..
I doubt it's his only car he's owned for years.. All my guess work but thats what I see when looking close
I don't see missing interior plastics.. Broken bumpers.. Dented doors.. Tears in seats... It's a bit of dirt from being used.. A good clean and drive it on.. It's a Toyota corolla - good for around 300k miles
Also it could be a sh1tter 😂.. But I doubt it
I dont doubt that there still could be some value in that Corrolla, but from personal experience as well as talks with my mechanic, loads of cars which look like pig pen inside weren't threated properly. For me it's a red flag. If you can't be bothered with hoovering the car once in a while, or even getting a cheap valet, there are slim chances that that person would remember to service it when it should.
On the opposite hand I'm not saying that all the nice and shiny cars are OK. They could be bigger t@rd, only polished to look nice.
I did spend last week going around, looking for something decent, I'm at the point where I kinda gave up. I would call, ask about details, yeah new Nct, service done, then come to see half the car needing work. "But it went thru Nct.... -seller"
Really, sometimes I still wonder how much now it does cost under the table.
