Can anyone recommend a decent leaf blower for light work.
Stuff like blowing the lawn cutting bits off the tarmac and generally giving the tarmac a "sweep" / tidy up.
Probably prefer battery but would consider petrol one.
I'm a crank when it comes to leaf blowers so apologies for interfering in your thread but please have a think about just getting a yard brush.

I'd advise that you don't spend too much on your purchase.
A mains one will get you going and you can use an extension lead.
The bag facility provides a kind of outdoor hoover which is handy.
Don’t go for anything Petrol. If your back is bad, the vibrations will drive you nuts. If it’s only for a “sweep” of a driveway, then battery will suffice. I use Petrol Husqvarnas (I have two) but also have a few acres and a long driveway. Petrol is literally overkill if you have a small driveway. It WiLL work but why spend the money?
Ryobi make a few nice models blo and suck options, green works also… prices from around €55 to €149
Your leaf blower sucks up the leaves?
Life's too short for sweeping drives as we get older. Get a cheap corded one and an extension lead. It's sufficient for the amount of use you'll give it.
Most have a bag attachment that converts it to a hoover. This is really only for leaves, as stones and grit will destroy the fan.
I have a Makita, one of the smaller ones they make. Already had the batteries so I think it was only €50.
Works brilliant, cannot fault it for light work. Waaaaay quicker than a sweeping brush for the same task. Probably one of the better things I use for garden work. And yes, also have a good outdoor brush as well - but 9 times out of 10 it’s the blower I’ll be reaching for.
Downside… the other half things it’s stupid. But hey, I’ll live with that.

I have a Makita battery unit and find it is light, well balanced and works well for my patio and driveway. I haven't used for blowing leaves from grass. Like JDextra I already had Makita batteries.

I got it from Handy Hardware here in Ireland. Looks like the price has gone up since I got mine over a year ago. Keep an eye on Screwfix and Amazon for any deals.

Cant beat that machine it's a great blower for gardens and driveways etc. I have one myself. Just an FYI be very wary of buying anything off screwfix, they tend to advertise great deals but rarely have the stock and or would supply a lower voltage battery than whats industry standard in some cases.

Don't have any other makita tools. Are the batteries and chargers ever on offer? They seem expensive
If you have any other 18 Volt battery tools try to get the same make in a leaf blower. You can then buy the basic unit without a battery and charger much more cheaply!

Lidl have a good battery operated one that would suit your needs I think if its for light work. in my opinion unless you have a heavy duty blower not many are good for wet leaves etc

I’d stay away from petrol ones, battery is the way to go. Less noise, less weight, less vibration, no fumes. If you have any power tools with batteries already, you’ll find a compatible leaf blower. If not, it might be time to invest.
Would anyone recommend a lightweight blower (has to be light for health reasons here too)? Wet leaves on grass and dry/wet leaves in 20ml driveway gravel.
Some of the cheaper battery blowers don't have variable speed which is essential.
Wet leaves on grass need quite a lot of power. I use a Stihl petrol hand held.
Anyone have an opinion on this one:
Neighbour has one of the corded ones and its a bit of a pain. Now his is awkward long one but I think hand held is way to go
My Stihl has a vacuum attachment that I never use. They are too slow, cumbersome & it's so much easier to blow the leaves onto a sheet.
A Stihl will cost you around 330 but it will cope with anything & last for years. My spare is over 25 years old & still running.
For just tarmac & light work I would go for Lidl/Aldi. Wet leaves on grass is a very different proposition.

My First reaction to that one is the round end to the nozzle. You'd have little or no directional control with that.
Is there one around that price range that you would recommend?
Is the leaf blower from Lidl any good?
They have one on offer this coming Thurs.
It's half acre size with a lot of deciduous trees so afraid the 10 or 15 minute battery ones will run out before I have the job done
