Large queues at Bank of Ireland ATMs this evening.

That's some amount of false equivalence right there.

Bank of Ireland have probably lost millions at this stage.
The customer will of course foot the bill with increased charges.
Francesca McDonagh swanned of to a massive role in Credit Suisse and left an absolute technology shitshow behind her. Ironically I don't think Credit Suisse have been doing aswell of late.
Then she repays the 300 when the bank opens and it doesn't reach the court.
If this mythical old lady went around several ATMs withdrawing money on a Tuesday despite the fact that she gets her pension on a Friday and withdraws it in full every week, well maybe the judge will believe it's a coincidence, wouldn't bet me pension on it though.
I left BOI years ago.
Was there online banking still a shambles with balances not reflecting in real time?
I often nearly legitimately got caught out forcing an overdraft because of that phucked up system, you never fully knew exactly how much money was in your account.
More reports that people can access the daily limit on more than one machine.
withdraw in bank. or reroute the social welfare payments.
They simply wont stop social payments flr 4 to 5 weeks.
There will be a work around. Watch and see.
exactly.
They wont be prosectuted and they will still get their dole. How can people not see this?
Gaining traction across the water now.
The account physically won’t allow it- your available funds will be either zero or a negative figure- an ATM won’t pay out (assuming this current glitch is fixed😀
Love how people are so confident they will get the money back.
If only they knew how much the system was scammed during Covid and that money will never be paid back to the state, literally billions.
The money taken today is gone forever, yet like the Covid scam payments the honest workers will have to make up the deficit.
A more honest scam 😂
They'll get it, but they won't be able to withdraw it, why is that such a confusing scenario for you.
Prove that in court. Actually, are you bringing 40k of these scrotes to court? How much does it take to prosecute each of these? More than they took by any chance?
Revert back and let me know how many of these are prosecuted
The payments are delivered to the receipient. One way or another. Watch this space.
Big reaction now
Shame on an international level with a threat to their future job applications is all these gombeens understand
I agree with you logically, but wait and see how many folks dont get their welfare payment next week.
Well they’ve just taken out a grand- sure don’t they have loads of money? 😀
they wont not pay out for 4 or 5 weeks. Sob story of kids starving etc. It wont happen!
New tourist guide
"Be sure to open a bank account before visiting this country
Once in a while the ATMs give out free money "
Your knowledge or the Irish criminal courts, or indeed any courts in general is obviously primitive. So everybody who withdraws money from a BOI account on this date is liable? What is an old lady clicked 400 on the keypad instead of 100? And she had 150 in the account?
This was it;

What's the alternative?
I agree that is what they should do. But they wont. Wait and see.
That 6euro "Maintenance Fee" they take out of my BOI account a month, shall henceforth be renamed the "Incompetence Fee". And will now be doubled until they make up the losses from this + a little extra to punish account holders.
Lil ol Ireland hitting the headlines again for all the wrong reasons.
Feels like the place is creaking lately.
From some posts on this thread I can see Joe Duffy show is going to be fun.😀
“The bankers can’t do this….”
Yes they fcking can now let that be a lesson to you- don’t take money that doesn’t belong to you🤪
Surely any half decent responsible adult should have a reasonable idea how much is in your account at a given time, certainly well within a margin of error of a grand. Most people's pay (from employer, SW or whatever source) and direct debits are regular.
Those close to being overdrawn would probably be even more aware than average.
It shouldn't be, and probably isn't, a defence to "not know" there wasn't enough cash there when we're talking about €1000.
There is 0 chance that will happen.
