Oh my God! They are truly awful! The same thing happened a couple of months ago and it was down for over 24 hours.
Whatever about the app down, from what I gather people can't pay for stuff using their card or withdraw from the ATM.
That's unbelievable! They are getting worse. Will really have yo make the effort to change banks.
I had no problem using BOI debit card about an hour ago, so don't think it's effecting that.
But a truly horrible app, needs a complete rebuild

Yea this could be big news in the morning - seems issues are growing.
Since the App is critical for SCA approvals, online transactions might have issues. Didn’t have issues paying for stuff though earlier.

Maybe they had no funds on their debit card? Worked for me anyway so shouldn't be an issue once you have funds
ya people with empty accounts are taking out money at ATMs
There are queues at all BOI atm machines, people taking out cash. Overheard someone say "I dont care its in my account".
Think some people got an unexpected windfall...
I saw BOI trending and had seen this thread but was wondering why it was trending because the app is down a bit so it’s hardly news and then I looked and Jesus that’s gas.
They are saying they have the funds.
These people realise they have to pay this back😂
And What is max an ATM give you, 700€?
I guess if your tight for a few weeks you might be desperate enough otherwise stupid waste of time
The poor bank of Ireland Twitter account which normally finishes for the night is still online. I’m with BOI so hopefully this is sorted soon.

Ladies and Gentleman I introduce the biggest embarressment to the banking sector in Ireland, BOI.
In this day of age to have these kind of issues and one of the worse apps around is just beyond me.
Seems to be paying out in shops online etc
Going by their Twitter account I’ve seen several replies from them to others sayings it not a hack or a leak.

No idea how it doesn't cross people's minds that they're accounts will be minus by end of day tomorrow probably.
The overdraft fees alone from this will cover the cost for BOI
Glad I moved away from them when I did. This seems to be a monthly reoccurrence and if this is really a tech issue, you'd imagine one of the largest banks in Ireland would have plenty of failsafe's to keep the core parts of its network running in an event like this.

Working in IT myself it's well known by people in the industry that BOI are poor enough on the infrastructure side.
This just adds to the long list of silly outages they've had in recent time.
Last few times have been human caused, updated software, failing to update certs etc
So I presume each person who got money will have to give it all back
They might be able to repay a fiver a week.
