Munster joinery wood door paint

got a new door from Munster joinery and had the guy out to do a snag on it as it was not closing 100%.

he informed me that the door paint is not weather resistant and thats its just a water based coat. i called the rep and he said the same thing as they cant use waether resistant coat in factory. . this means i need to paint the door ASAP which is not an easy task is there is over 20 glass panels that need to be taped off. i was hoping to get a few years at least out of this nicely sprayed coat they put on.

is this normal that MJ give windows and doors that do not have a weather resistant coat?

What the actual feck? They sell a weatherproof door with a non-weatherproof finish...? Was this documented by them within their communications to you and was the door delivered with your chosen colour?

Sounds like somebody is green-washing by advertising that they don't use solvent based fininshes... but don't provide a robust finish. I'm kinda hoping that this is a joke!

no i checked the emails from them and i dont see nothing about needing to paint door. rang rep and he said its a timber door of course you will have to paint it. they can only use water based paint in the factory.

over 4k this door cost and got quoted around 1k to paint it as it has over 20+ glass panels. Our experience with them was brilliant other than this. I should of listened to the reviews i had seen before buying.

i would of never known this if it wasnt for the guy that came out to adjust it.

i got doors from them, and somewhere in our contract it did sate we would need to paint the door within the first year

just had a look there, it was in an email from the rep that i dealt with, so not exactly watertight from them

i feel your pain but i would get a good coat of paint on it asap, those water based paints are for the most part useless...
