How close it is to the road would put me off. Wouldn't have much privacy there as the road there can be busy enough
Yeah, saw that...agent I spoke to about it was really impressed with A1 rating... interesting to see what price it gets... a few things going against re courtyard size, proximity of neighbours and lack of living room but impressive in other ways
Made the Examiner.

I've been there many times, some nice pubs and restaurants, but I'm not especially familiar with the area so anyone who knows more feel free to weigh in
It's a nice area, was quite posh years ago but afaik less so now. I've friends who grew up there and would love to move back but are priced out.
I feel Crosshaven is a tad restricted in getting to and from the city as there's more or less one road in and out without going wildly cross country, but the new Carrigaline road should have improved the commute (if you have one). There would be a decent bus service too.
Any takers for some comment on this? Not from the area so just trying to get a feel. Thanks
Starting to become the norm.
I think you will find that 250 k for a house in Knocka is not cheap in fact its absolutely inflated for that area
400 k for that nuts
Place in turners cross..4 mount pleasant is a 4 bed...The attic room is a bedroom but just can't be called that so in reality it's 4 bedrooms...the velux windows in attic are spectacular and the finishes all round are excellent ..agent said developer got A2 Ber rating but wanted A1 so added solar panels to get it...was under offer almost straight away at 450k but unsure of its market...downsizers with lots of money or rental as the replica house next door is but rent would have to be super high..
problem is tiny yard...smallish bedrooms and only one common area which is kitchen... beautiful refurb though
@JackieChang Like would I be absolutely insane to even think of it?
I'd echo what @the beer revolu said, and suggest you walk around there a few times; day, evening, night, and weekends. I've done this for pretty much every house I've bought/rented and you learn a lot. Try walking to the nearest convenience store, take away, pub, bus stop. You'll get a real feel for the neighbourhood and for what living there would be like. And looking at some of the other properties in the area, are they well kept, do they get their asking price, how quickly do they sell, is the area on the way up or down? The property price register https://propertypriceregister.ie/ can give a lot of clues if studied carefully. You'll also have your own list to check out, schools, public transport, active transport etc. And if you are considering renting out a room etc after you purchase, what's the local rental market like ?
Go and have a walk around the area yourself. I wouldn't listen to people who aren't from the area about how rough it might be.
I'm not originally from Cork and haven't really any experience of that area. But I have heard the north side is rough bai. But how bad can it be? Will I be petrol bombed out of it or will there be clan feuds out on the green?
If that house was in bishopstown it would be €400k. Tis immaculate and A rated BER.
Like would I be absolutely insane to even think of it?
Location, location, location!
Why is this place so cheap? Are they expecting to get some bidding war going?
Thoughts on this? I thought it was ok value considering it’s a bit bigger than the usual 4 bed semis

I think the standout feature is the "walk in wardrobe". Assuming that the drawings are someway accurate, thee are slightly larger than the shower tray - so probably less than a square metre. Exactly how much walking would you do in a cupboard that size after it was stuffed with clothes ?
The price is a ripoff, making a mockery of the First Home Scheme and the Help to Buy grant. But that was always the risk with these schemes, that the developers would simply add them to the base price.
So glad I am at the other end of the property ladder.
Those houses are fecking tiny. 400k for a tenements council house style but modernized.
Both of them right on a pretty often used road too so be kind of annoying at night I'd think.
Interesting to see why both gone up for sale. Both lovely houses.
Both attractive. Same price but what a difference in the BER, A1 vs D1
Ha I thought same myself - house isn't that big for 5 bathrooms ?? .... This just on market 2 doors down on the corner - Bigger house , not as modern .. same price ! The Anchorage, 2 Mount Pleasant Road, Turners Cross, Cork City, Co. Cork is for sale on Daft.ie
You have the first home scheme to thank for the continued increase in new builds, most first time buyers are opted for it now to bridge the gap. Bishopstown area is hugely desirable spot though, first time in a long time something new has been developed there for the private market.
That's a cracking looking refurb I have to say, why 5 baths for 3 bedrooms?
Turners cross prices are heating up - Kathrew, 4 Mount Pleasant Road, Turners Cross, Co. Cork is for sale on Daft.ie
There could also be 40k gone into that house in finishing after the sale price.
I havent seen any real cooling of the market. If its a house you can move into and live in as is then demand is strong. I think bit weaker demand alright if its ber G and total gut job. That house is up 90k in 3 years but cost of building it plus general market rises would explain it. Sickener though
Mother of God.
At these prices young people would be better off going on the housing list.
First phase of the "Waterfall" development on Waterfall Road up on Daft. 400k for a 3 bed terrance, 430k for a 3 bed end of terrance, 500k for a 4 bed end of terrace
800 enquries in the first 10 days of advertisement.
My god what an idea 😂
Where the hell are people finding tradespeople to do up mouldy houses to a modern standard? I was thinking of buying a delapitated house and doing it up, but then thought to myself I'll be waiting 10 years for plumbers and electricians and builders to be available.
