It might be tabloid click bait but D'Arcy is the most likely person to get the show. Wouldn't be surprised if he's in there in by September. I'm no great fan of D'Arcy either but at least he would put more effort into the show. It shouldn't be very difficult to come up with one or two items each day. I hope that he gets rid of the Paper Review. Tubs was just putting down time every day. It seemed like he put in no effort and was out the door at ten.

    Communication was the greatest fatality

D’Arcy seems to be unpopular everywhere tbh. Ian Dempsey allegedly threw a leaving party for him when he left Today FM - but D’Arcy wasn’t invited. 🤣

I personally think the Patrick and the President photo is more illustrative of the man behind the mask so to speak.

Both are very insightful as to the opinion he has of himself, but I think the PatP is the worst - or best depending on how you frame it.

That’s definitely the definitive job interview.

He seems to fancy himself as a Jeeves and Wooster character. I think that there was a genealogy programme a few years ago and he was very happy to find that he was distantly related to some English courtier from the Middle Ages. Not quite a royal connection.

I’d say Ray especially loves the morning slot as he does t drink at all and would never chance to have a hangover, a short bit of waffle for breakfast, porridge after in the canteen and off he goes about his own personal day.

Where can I see the Patrick and the President photo?

I just find the auditory experience of Ray D'Arcy is equivalent to being in the presence of an annoying flying insect that you just want to swat.

    Surely, they can do better?

Also, the Patrick of the title also seems to be modelled on Tubridy.

Darcy will love giving his opinion on the news, don’t you know, but it might have some more relevance to the listeners than the pure inane scutter from Ryan.

Qyestion then is who will fill the existing afternoon Farcy slot, maybe someone to be given more limelight.

The sheer arrogance of Flynn, such an odious man.

The way Gaybo says you came from humble beginnings is priceless, thats what a proper interviewer does, he set the trap and Flynn did the rest.

You'll see the photograph of him re-enacting the cover if you go back 2 pages on this thread, whilst if you go back just 1 you'll see some drawings of him in the book itself - multiple images of him and he's not one of the main characters in this work of fiction.

Straight after work Ray would be able to hook up with Ronan Collins on the golf course as Ronan has the unique ability to be in two places at the same time.

By no means the same thing, but D'Arcy had Joe Duffy on a few years ago on the TV show and there was a similar set up and put down:

Mr. Duffy - an NKM client btw - who has "earned" millions (approx. €8m) from the National Broadcaster over the last 20ish years always talks about his working class roots, his working class values, his working class accent, and his working class work ethic. He's just returned this week from a month off btw.

Mr. Duffy's working class work ethic equates to him working approximately 6.25 hours per week (with breaks) for approx. 38-40 weeks a year. He's about as far removed from working class as most can get.

His man of the people act is as manufactured as The Toyman's.

Joe Duffy is about as much Ballyfermot as Ryan Tubridy, and as much working class as King Charles.

There are only two radio hosts in Ireland worse than Ryan. And one of them is D’Arcy

If they're looking for somebody that can get a sponsor for the 9-10am slot (and they are) D'Arcy is not the way to go. He hasn't had a sponsor for about 4 years

D'Arcy's listener figs have been falling consistently and despite the show getting new expensive researchers and a new top of the range producer, head of radio Peter Woods still can't figure out where the problem is...I can see Peter's predicament alright - it's a tricky one

Speaking of the JNRL figs, I think Bakhurst is waiting to see next weeks figs which will remain largely unchanged and then putting that into the mix - then he'll have the reduced TV licence figs, no sponsor, reduced advertising and public concerns to worry about

Then there'll be the phone call:

    Ryan, it's Kevin

    Hi Kevin, what's the craic?

Welcome to Dumpsville Ryan, population - you. Take care bye

Dempsey is a legend who sees the bigger picture and knows the job so well he can spot a spoofer

i keep saying this but he said tubridy would be found out eventually

Needs a lot more cue cards on the desk, but apart from that it's spot on.

D'Arcy in Tubridy's slot would be dire.

30 minutes of him sighing and pontificating over the papers? No thanks.

He could take it the direction of his old Today FM show and have something fun and fats moving, but i think he's beyond that now, he's just a boring, cantankerous man with a superiority complex.

I think the need to do a Sean O'Rourke on it and throw someone into the mix who hasn't done much on RTE. Doesn't have to be an insider, doesn't have to be NKM and doesn't have to be paid any more than €80-100K

New figures show that TV licence revenue fell again in the first week of August, with €900,000 less revenue collected than in the same week last year.

Could approach a 4 million Euro loss for August. Looks like the Irish people don't want Tubridy back and aren't too pleased with RTE either.

I wonder if we'll be seeing something in the near future quoting "insiders" spinning the refusal to pay as a protest about Tubridy not being brought back yet by RTÉ. I would be surprised if NKM/Tubridy are not thinking about it at the very least.

Will be something along the lines of people on 200k+ worried the future of RTE their job

    DARCY in Tubridy’s role today:

    “Sorry about that, wrong button..

Morning folks, just returned from the canteen here in RTE and they had no porridge, I mean at this time of day you’d think they’d have porridge, wouldn’t you? Had to go for cornflakes, and they’re not my thing, you understand.

About the police thing in NI, who actually posted up that data by mistake, and where did they post it to so that everybody could see? Can anyone tell me where I could have found it?

    I don’t know, I don’t know.

It says here an advisory team is being created to oversee Artificial Intelligence in this country, like what you YOU think of AI, could it replace your or my jobs? HaHa HaHa, nothing could replace me talking to you, hahahaha.

Dublin Airport, night flights over Swords and drones. I don’t agree with the drones, like they could go into an aircraft engine just as you or I are taking off on our holidays to somewhere sunny, but you can’t blame the local residents for being annoyed. CAN we?

    I don’t know, I don’t know…. “

RTÉ paid nearly 1,100 allowances across 2022, with one presenter and non-manager, the 20 th highest-paid worker receiving €42,778 for the year in terms of benefits on top of a €158,366 salary.

Some 61 staff received the allowance in 2022, at an average payment of €10,765 per head, according to figures released by the broadcaster

Look, I had to do the sums when I came here. I already said I took a relatively significant salary cut to come do this job. It’s a pretty demanding and high-profile job

He retorted and finished with a whisper "Irish **** peasant"

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

And don’t forget, apart from the lump sum allowances, the other allowances are not subject to tax or any or deductions. Nice little earner. Bit like a TD, in fact.
