It might be tabloid click bait but D'Arcy is the most likely person to get the show. Wouldn't be surprised if he's in there in by September. I'm no great fan of D'Arcy either but at least he would put more effort into the show. It shouldn't be very difficult to come up with one or two items each day. I hope that he gets rid of the Paper Review. Tubs was just putting down time every day. It seemed like he put in no effort and was out the door at ten.

D’Arcy seems to be unpopular everywhere tbh. Ian Dempsey allegedly threw a leaving party for him when he left Today FM - but D’Arcy wasn’t invited. 🤣

I personally think the Patrick and the President photo is more illustrative of the man behind the mask so to speak.

Both are very insightful as to the opinion he has of himself, but I think the PatP is the worst - or best depending on how you frame it.

He seems to fancy himself as a Jeeves and Wooster character. I think that there was a genealogy programme a few years ago and he was very happy to find that he was distantly related to some English courtier from the Middle Ages. Not quite a royal connection.

I’d say Ray especially loves the morning slot as he does t drink at all and would never chance to have a hangover, a short bit of waffle for breakfast, porridge after in the canteen and off he goes about his own personal day.

Mr. Duffy - an NKM client btw - who has "earned" millions (approx. €8m) from the National Broadcaster over the last 20ish years always talks about his working class roots, his working class values, his working class accent, and his working class work ethic. He's just returned this week from a month off btw.

Mr. Duffy's working class work ethic equates to him working approximately 6.25 hours per week (with breaks) for approx. 38-40 weeks a year. He's about as far removed from working class as most can get.

His man of the people act is as manufactured as The Toyman's.

If they're looking for somebody that can get a sponsor for the 9-10am slot (and they are) D'Arcy is not the way to go. He hasn't had a sponsor for about 4 years

D'Arcy's listener figs have been falling consistently and despite the show getting new expensive researchers and a new top of the range producer, head of radio Peter Woods still can't figure out where the problem is...I can see Peter's predicament alright - it's a tricky one

Speaking of the JNRL figs, I think Bakhurst is waiting to see next weeks figs which will remain largely unchanged and then putting that into the mix - then he'll have the reduced TV licence figs, no sponsor, reduced advertising and public concerns to worry about

D'Arcy in Tubridy's slot would be dire.

30 minutes of him sighing and pontificating over the papers? No thanks.

He could take it the direction of his old Today FM show and have something fun and fats moving, but i think he's beyond that now, he's just a boring, cantankerous man with a superiority complex.

I think the need to do a Sean O'Rourke on it and throw someone into the mix who hasn't done much on RTE. Doesn't have to be an insider, doesn't have to be NKM and doesn't have to be paid any more than €80-100K
