Constantly repeating that he "was doing what RTE told him to do" doesn't constitute a masterclass in anything. least of all being convincing.
Perhaps it was a masterclass to the kind of rare people who listen to the Ryan Tubridy show and believe everything they hear? In reality, the PAC and Media committee hearings were an unmitigated disaster for Tubridy, Kelly and RTE.

Yep they were absolute car crash to everyone that answered questions. It was hard to figure out who was the most unlikeable. Noel Kelly and O'Leary were the most dishonest. Tubs was the most fake. Nobody likes liars and they were all at it.
The arrogance was outstanding. That's what annoyed the public the most.

By packaging Tubridy as "Mister RTE" RTE management effectively created a single point of failure. And it certainly failed. Turbridy's brand has been tainted and the idea of repaying some of the money is simply an effort to rehabilitate him and is pure PR.
It's very simple, RTE are hemorrhaging license fee revenue due to poor management at the highest level and of course the PR train wreck that is Ryan Tubridy.
Oh I don't know about that now and this line of 'nothing to see here' that you keep peddling.
There was lots to see and hear at those PAC & Media Committee investigations, they were revealing to the common man. Lots of repetition alright, as those being asked did their best to deflect, disseminate and avoid addressing what they were being asked. What I saw & heard were RTE management along with Tubridy & Kelly having their feet held to the fire. What I saw & heard was requests for clarification and further information on several related matters.
We are far from the end of these matters, there is a strong sense that something is rotten in the kingdom of Montrose. A stink of wasted public money & incompetence mixed in with elements of tax avoidance.
So carry on with your attempts to whitewash over the gaping cracks but the public are not fooled.

Indeed and the unions in RTE have their eyes all over this as well. Strong suspicion of inconsistent application of criteria.

Having Tubs back on the radio soon isn't going to happen and you know it. He's not the late late host nor the Toyman any more, Hes the man that **** the bed. Brendan Courtney and Oliver Callan well able to put in an hour a day and not manage to close down the national broadcaster.
I haven’t heard Courtney but he’s usually good. Callan is a definite no-no though. Just doesn’t have it.

Ryan isn't The Second Coming, no matter what he or his agent - or anyone else - might think.
Personally I found it a minor irritation and sometimes, for reasons I won’t go into, I’d find myself not in a position to change the dial or turn it off, however the current banter 9 - 10 for me goes easy on the ear, and I’ve liked some of the recent interviews.

If people criticized him without listening to the show, you’d give out that they didn’t even listen to the show and are just complaining for the sake of it.

I think if rte had the balls to show Tubs the door, which I don't think they have, most people who have stopped paying their licence would start paying it again.

Rte radio 1 mornings are going along OK without him. He's not the messiah.
Cut him loose, save the huge wages and regain some credibility with the licence payers.
I think he'll be back unfortunately.
The longer he's off air and the dail/pac being on holidays combines to dilute the initial public anger.
The only thing that might throw a spanner in the works is if the rank and file within rte refuse to engage with him and make his day to day life within the organisation unbearable.
