Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

The hundreds of thousands of listeners to his radio show would give lie to your claim that there is zero evidence that he is well liked.
Even if you claimed there was very little evidence he is well liked, your post might be a small bit credible, rather than the hyperbole it is.
Listenership figures do not mean the host is liked. The show/slot and the host are differing entities, apologies if you missed the nuance.
If I hear the sound of a pneumatic drill in the background and have no choice but to listen to it as I'm passing, it doesn't mean I like it.
I see you also ignored the point re. how the perception of the man has likely changed in the last 7 weeks. Intriguing.
Someone in the committee, possibly Catherine Murphy, picked him up on that - along the lines of do you really want to go back to a company who treated you like that. Can't remember exact words - but it definitely needed to be said.
His initial response also when the news first broke was basically blame RTE, they did this, not me.
Again, not his exact words, but general gist.
You absolutely despise the man, and your opinion is therefore clouded at best, Butters. That’s ok. It’s your “thing”. You aren’t an impartial external observer though as a result.
Presumably John Murray was also loved by the nation. He had even higher audiences when he was hosting the show before Tubridy.
Charles Haughey got an overall majority. The past is a different place, H.
As I have explained many times, I don't despise the man. I despise avarice, greed, corruption, lies, deceit, cowardice, misrepresentation, dishonesty, fraudulent behaviour etc. Not saying The Toyman is guilty of any of those of course, I'm just listing things I despise.
In one of the red tops
Don't think that anyone actually believed that in the first place. Noel Kelly seems to have some kind of hold over RTE. So transparent to see the articles released through his minions over the last few weeks.
Are you accusing Tubridy of avarice, greed, corruption, lies, deceit, cowardice, dishonesty, fraudulent behaviour etc?
That's just click bait stuff, designed to stir the pot.
RTE management know full well that a substantial portion of the public think Tubridy's services should be dispensed with. They will also be very aware of the fall in TV licence renewals. It's very straightforward.
I clearly pointed out that I wasn’t. Mr. Tubridy is the most honest man in Ireland after all.
If I were a betting man I’d place a large sum as to the origins of that story. About as accurate as the “Tubs and Kelly fly to London for meetings with ITV and BBC top bosses” article from a few weeks back I’d say.
An obvious puff piece filled with quotes from unnamed "insiders". It may cheer up some on this thread but there has been a sea change in how Tubridy is perceived. The ease with which Tubridy was replaced demonstrates the abject stupidity of the argument that RTE had to pay such high fees to the "talent" to prevent them going elsewhere. Elsewhere obviously doesn't want them.
That part about 2FM dying with Gerry Ryan doesn't mention who replaced him on 2FM and how the audience figures for the show subsequently collapsed.
Regards...jmcc
"I am now at the point where I'd really like to see Tubs back on a short term contract."
Daithi O'Se should stand aside as RoT host and give RT a chance to show everyone how popular he really is....."Welcome to the dome once again, thanks to all our sponsors...Renault, Cadburys and all the be-kind non-spongers still paying the TV tax."
Ideally the industrial action would take the form of an extended strike that would take RTE off the air for a few months. The would wean the public off the idea that RTE, like Tubs, is irreplaceable.
Mr H this goes back a long long way, back to even when Fred O’Donovan was head honcho and Uncle Gaybo was supposedly heading to the USA.
That was in fairness a runner, but apart form Wogan and perhaps Kenny of that genre nobody moved or was in any danger of moving.
Now you are correct when you say nobody believed this ….except perhaps RTE management who shelled out taxpayers eurons at alarming rates for minimal return.
This place I have said before has been run like a black hole in space, not even light gets out of it,for far too long.
Only a bit of luck opened the can of worms and let the taxpayer see how he/she was been ridden ragged by these stults.
Don't let yourself be baited Butters. You're a target.
You're right BB. It was a bit of luck that we found out and remember they were only mandated to report salaries from 2 years ago. They would still be basking in barter accounts now if the audit hadn't taken place or the findings had been shelved. O'Leary and Forbes and the ex CFO are still laughing at the Taxpayer. I don't think we have seen the extent of waste and corruption yet either.
I know that, it’s plain as day what’s going on.
I seem to remember you lambasting the likes of Dunphy, Brolly, Sheehan - basically any journalist who dared to criticise Tubridy.
You attacked Brolly as an individual, making reference to his age and gender.
Playing the man and not the ball.
I guess that means you aren't an impartial external observer though as a result, based on the standard you have declared in your post here. Which is why it is entirely valid to point out the double standards.
It doesn't take much to see that you are now being targeted.
There's a saying in Montrose that goes something like "You don't f*ck with Noel Kelly".
Not sure where it came from. His PAC appearance painted a picture of a sharp, affable and ultimately quite capable man, but not this mafia don type.
You would wonder though.
That’s a very generous description of him. You’re entitled to your opinion, but I wouldn’t use the words you used to describe his committee appearances.
I wouldn’t for example describe his deliberate time wasting, off topic rambling, irrelevant monologues, or his complete avoidance of questions as showing him to be sharp, affable, or capable; but as I said you are entitled to your opinion.
You forgot ''hypocrisy''. He's certainly guilty of that. ''We're all in this together''.
Really?
I got a totally different impression. It was a much hyped appearance. People thought himself and Tubs would be fed to the metaphorical lions but it was quite the opposite.
It was a masterclass is saying just enough and just the right thing. He had them charmed.
And his chocolate answer was just *chefs kiss*
@Cluedo Monopoly, @alzer100 and @Butters@ButtersSuki please don't take thread of topic. The PM facility is available to you if you'd like to have a discussion. Funnily enough commenting on thread is giving attention to the very posters you are talking about not giving attention to.
As always if you have any problem with any post report it please.
Yes, really.
I’m not alone in thinking his performance wasn’t in line with your appraisal of it, but you’re entitled to your opinion.
I think that's fair. We can agree to disagree and leave the matter there. There's not much more to say about it.
You think so?
