Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

OK but it's not currently optional if you watch broadcast TV, even if your ariel is temporarily disconnected m'laud.
Why would that change what has happened in the past ?
What if he came back on a significantly reduced fee? 150k ?
This would be half the solution.
An organised public contacting any company that advertises with RTE saying they will boycott their products if RT returns to the broadcaster.
It has happened to great success in the past.
Friday the 25th August.
"When will the Irish people ever teach the Politicians who they are supposed work for"
I agree.
This is the inherent problem thus the long streak of piss will flow back in.
Thanks for doing that.
A small sample of 100 people and 91% say a big fat NO to having him back.
Unfortunately the poll was closed so well just have to assume that percentage would have remained consistent even had 10,000 people voted.
How do we share this 91% with the decision makers ?
There’s no argument to have him back that is based on any reality that the public would understand.
Hopefully the public continue to protest by not paying the TV licence.
High time the next general election reflects on this type of corruption and the people vote accordingly.
When will the Irish people ever teach the Politicians who they are supposed work for.
It is optional, no TV no TV Licence.
You can have a 60 Monitor and stream all the content in the world without a TV licence as things stand
I am sure there is an "expert" RTÉ commissioning editor reading their script right now, actually they probably have a new Comedy series starting on RTÉ hosted by Doireann Garrihy.
And yet in all this debate where is the TOYMAN?
Where are you?
Would be a different scenario for actors and repeat footage etc (songs and what have you), doubt it would apply to news, current affairs progammes etc and even if it was contractors and employees are on a set wage - they are not paid per production
I hope if they bring him back everyone abandons rte or tell the advertisers they won't support them. Smarmy little leach.
I'd listen to morning Ireland if I was driving or listening to radio at that time. I'd possibly listen to CB depending on the subject she was covering. No way I would listen to Tubridy in between. He wouldn't hold to me but I would switch back to CB to hear what she was covering. Wouldn't listen to Callan either
That slot is just tittle tattle
Jesus, that Dr Harold News account is about as funny as hearing a rumour over breakfast there's going to a mandatory redundancy announcement at 11am.
I said way back that Bakhurst wouldn't get rid of him.
New broom was needed, Bakhurst isn't a new broom, unfortunately. 🤷♀️
I think they do..Fair City wasn't on rte +1 for a long time..same with reeling in the years !!
Don't be giving them ideas
Do RTE shows and presenters get more money if a show is played on the same station but by plus 1 hour.?
Like RTE 1 and 2 have a +1 from 8th it looks like TG4 will have +1. That's showing up on my TV box.
I did it and it was shut down. You can see the link to it below.
When do you think KB will announce RT is back?
You can bet your life there'll be no live calls and only the nice texts will be read out. They're probably composing them in Bakhurst's office at the minute.
I think the government don't realise how much this will damage them in the next election. FG went on and on about rooting out cronyism, corruption, waste and elites and golden circles when they brought out the New Politics manifesto. As we all know, they jumped into all that greed themselves as soon as they took power but now RTE reflects all of those vices in one relatively small organisation. If the government don't deal swiftly with RTE, they would look utterly complicit and supportive of a dysfunctional national broadcaster.
"Morning all! It's great to be back after all that unpleasantness. Now, lessons learned and moving on from all that, we are very much open for business. Call or text etc etc etc......" 🤮
The politicians don't give a hoot either way. Its all for show. Aren't they on the bandwagon themselves. Who else gets 5.5K per year unvouched travel even if you live 100 yards from the Dail. Its only the small man who has to scrimp and scrape.
Yip, rather sadly I think we will have to accept that RT will be back on the airwaves. There's just that feeling about, isn't there?
It might annoy some of his 'team', or other rte staff but they will just have to suck it up and get on with it, cos the powers that be see him as a prized asset.
Bakhurst will promise the sun, moon & stars on reform of RTE governance until he gets the new funding system, But once that is in place how much oversight will there be? IMO if the system is based around direct exchequer funding the public and hence the politicians will largely lose interest in how RTE is run...
He'll be back in the last week of August. Still quiet enough during the holidays so that it's in the 'dead zone' when nothing happens. Then he can get the increased listenership in September with all going back to work and NK can claim it's Tubridys charm that got the listeners back.
He'll be in the money again in 2024 when doing some sort of junket documentaries that involve him flying to Washington, Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and any other hole the 'Irish' branch of the Democrat party hang out. Or some stuff that involves him delivering a load of toys to an orphanage somewhere in Eastern Europe.
Bakhurst won't get the gravy train under control and those who benefit from it now, and those who will benefit from it in 5, 10, 20 years from now will ensure that it keeps steaming along at full pace.
Grand, as along as there is a root & branch overhaul of RTE finances. And that these supports are also spread proportionately across other broadcast media. Along with an end to agents and self employed contractor presenters. Full time employment at reasonable rates for a full years work with statutory holidays only.
KB says TV licence players have a right to feel let down, and we are still being let down as he told us a decision on RT would be made by the end of the month. When will we hear about RT's future?
TV licence fee revenue is down more than €2.5M in the last month.
True and RTÉ can go on their jollies with no oversight and no one complains about RTÉ because we have forgotten that we pay for the broadcaster.
