I got an email yesterday from them and they’re now offering pcp and hp on these. They also have the refresh model on the configurator.
However, if the trade in offers are as poor as they appear to be they’re a much less attractive proposition.
Just seen my first one of these in the wild. Very impressive looking machine. 222-WSomething.
Wouldn't go for the grey colour it was in, but that's obviously subjective.
I bought my car about a month ago now and haven't received my logbook. Is anyone in a similar position? Who should I contact? Polestar Dublin, the tax office or Polestar HO?
I’m assuming you taxed the car? Afaik car has to be taxed for the log book to be posted out, if taxed by polestar make sure they registered to the correct address, failing that contact the Motor Tax office
Mine arrived about a week after purchase, I did tax it online the day after I got it so no idea if that has an affect on it.
...and that's where the problem lies. I thought the log book came first and then I tax it. Thanks, guys.
<<update>>> I tried to tax the car online using the last 6 digits of the vin and the site just crashes after selecting the renewal length. For christ sake.
Has anyone been on Aliexpress yet to change their key cover? Mine arrived during the week. I thought it included buttons so probably would have shopped around for a black cover if I'd known it was just the case. Read the small print.
Cup holder from Amazon arrived today. Nice solution without getting into the 3d printed options.
Does anyone know when the RWD version will be available here?
If you go the UK site that is the version you can configure but on the Irish site it is still the FWD version.
I used the Polestar chat and was told "soon"
Spoke to them. They don't have date for deliveries of the RWD, and the test drive unit for ireland is expected Q1 2024.
Thanks. It does say on the UK site delivery December/January, so similar to what you were told.
But their pricing is up and can order now it seems.
Doesn't appear you can order RWD here yet . As far as I could tell.
Definitely the beginning of 2024. They've discounted the Long-range version of the current model in the last few weeks for similar money to the Standard Range car. You'll see this in available cars on the Polestar website. If it was me, I would get in there now as the new P2 will probably cost more in 2024 and doesn't look any different apart from the new grill.
The long range dual motor is only 1.8k more than the standard range single currently. I can't remember the previous prices but that is a very small difference.
Yeah their pricing doesn't make sense. In no ways competitive with Tesla especially for the single motor standard range PS2. They probably can't be competitive due to production inefficiency and scale, shame.
I'd prefer the polestar tbh.
They reduced the price of the long-range version, probably because they have lots of them hanging about and want to shift them before the facelift next year. The 69kwh battery in the standard range car is more than enough for most people and I'd say they were struggling to sell the Long-range car which if I remember was closer to 60k. Don't quote me on that. Also, car dealers appear to be struggling again. I think new car sales have started to slow down. 0% PCP is back with VAG to start.
It's a pity they are getting rid of the black grill for 2024. I think the Facelift looks even more like a Volvo now. The black grill gave the P2 a bit of edge. It looks a bit like a Mustang from the front which fits in well with it's sporty appeal.
Do they not have cup holders as standard?
That reminds me of the aftermarket addition for the bmw i3. Silly yokes!
There's one visible cup holder in front of the armrest and one under the armrest that's used for storage in every other brand. Silly design.
Right hand drive press cars out in UK for 2024 model.
Why therefore are the irish dealers getting demos only next year...
Cheapest one (standard range single motor) is €54k according to this:
That's mental money when a Tesla Model 3 is €43k
I bought my P2 just after the Tesla price drop. The price drop added incentive to buy a Tesla but, I just did not like the model Y or 3.
Not everybody wants a Tesla but, they are the benchmark so, every youtube review must namedrop them to clickbait engagement.
I won't buy a model 3. 🤷
The pricing on the polestar 2 is a bit odd. Very little different between standard and long range.... Or single and dual motor. Zero point in buying a standard range.
To be honest I would happily pay more for a P2 - but €11K more is stretching it a bit. Will be interesting to see where the 2024 model year pricing will come out
Yes I thought that too. There was a Polestar 2 demo in Dundrum town centre last night, I like the look of it. I thought it being FWD in the earlier base model was a mistake, that's rectified now. The cabin looked nice but very claustrophobic with the huge high "transmission tunnel" between the front seats
And I've no problem with people not wanting to buy a Tesla Model 3, as long as they know that if they spend an extra 11k on a Polestar 2, they will have high depreciation.
The Polestar 2 is a Chinese car and they are nearly looking for German premium BMW i4 money for it. Something has got to give.
This only changed recently as they are trying to shift stock before the 2024 facelift I presume. The SR was originally 51-53k and the LR closer to 60k.
Cup holders are in the armrest so a lot of owners add a temporary one for longer trips. No biggie.
Mine was 52k if you go for the standard colour which is Magnesium. Not available there. That's a good price for a premium EV if you ask me with plenty of range in the SR version. Teslas are just very cheap at the moment.
The FWD makes sod all difference to the drivability of the car but yes there will be more performance with the new RWD version. The high transmission tunnel isn't for everyone but it adds a sporty feel to the interior and it's nice to be able to rest your arm there on longer trips.
You're looking at the China thing all wrong. Where a car is made has no significance. Geely are making great cars at the moment. BMW has been falling behind for years with its interiors and nothing about the i4 makes it any more premium than the Polestar. The P2 is a Volvo and the quality and finish of the car is right up there with BMW.
Being FWD in these is definitely noticeable and a negative point for me.
When I test drove one it was wet and out of a junction it is very easy to notice. The same for a lot of FWD EVs.
The RWD version should be a big improvement in this area.
Slow sales relative to other EV’s. Still excess stock in sandyford.
Has to be the price putting people off as I’d have a P2 over an i4 personally.
Thats a bit rich considering Tesla is a Chinese car. Especially the model 3. Tbf.
