Planting stories about non-entity "stars" being "seen together" in tabloids is a trick as old as the films, so it's relevant to the topic at hand that RT and NKM and you are making as much random, widespread and scattergun noise to try and rehabilitate the situation back into a profit stream.

Licence fee due here and it's just going to sit on my desk for as long as possible, pending confirmation that Mr.Bakhurst and Minister Martin are 'draining the swamp' of excessive expenditure at RTE including the termination of Mr.Tubridy's contract.
Save yourself some money. Buy a box of matches and put the license demand out of its misery.
The risk with a licence fee boycott is that RTE exploits the situation to beg for more government money or get something mandatory brought in like a communications tax.

The Tubs component of all this was a complete nothingburger. The new DG will have to deliver on some reforms of RTÉ though. He comes with a big reputation so I’m confident he can.

According the Oireachtas Media committee, that is all RTE ever did year on year. They demanded extra money but failed to produce answers for where all the money was going. Griffin said that the TDs were waiting for many answers long before the Tubs scandal broke. They even published salaries that were 2 years old.
Good news. The licence fee will be done away with.
Bad news. It will be replaced with something worse. A broadcasting charge.
At least if you don't have a TV, you don't need a TV licence (sort of). There'll be no getting away from the broadcast charge. It'll be deducted at source, either from your wages, or your social welfare.
What matters is that the cost for running our national broadcaster are significantly reduced. It's currently a black hole. Lower salaries for the "talent", less waste, no illegal accounting, fewer junkets, less scope for garbage shows dreamed up by NK/Talent.
