Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

NKM busy again!
Also…..#woke
Never heard of her. I’d rather unblock a toilet in Croke Park than listen to Joe Brolly’s podcast. I’d imagine it is full of snorting, guffawing, long-winded stories, name dropping, and petty points scoring.
Well then you should try Louise McSharry's podcast! I can't recommend it enough! (You might actually enjoy it I don't know, I can't say I'd be listening to either).
Just saw that on the RTE website.
I presume that means that RTE now have to pay more as there are two hosts instead of one.
Somewhat tone deaf, to say the least, if so.
just did a wild quick vote with workmates, about 2 dozen or so and they all said no,i dont want to watch it,the only person i know that watches rte is my mother and i think thats because she keeps losing the remote..
So when you say RTE should be showing what “we” want to watch, you really mean you and your workmates.
I think Tubs mentioned doing a podcast 🤔 himself
well yeah, didnt have the time or interest to ask everybody that works here(250+people) but theyve all different interests(news, current affairs, sport, motor racing, film, culture, music etc) ages(20yrs+ to over 60+) so a fair though small cross section..and im sorry but none of them want to watch it..
Tubridy has stated he’s desperate to come back and has nothing else , on that basis he should be offered 35k a year 😂
Maybe that's why Ryan was talking about setting up a podcast. He knew he'd get nothing else.
At least Joe gave somebody a kidney so he might have somethkng to talk about.
Quote Louise “as I drive my ev accross town the fact I’m saving the planet enters my mind”
the rte episode was rather good
He has an awful temper, the Derry girl sent him into overdrive 😂😂😂
Fair city seem to operate shifts , you’d have shift A for a week or two then shift B for a while , makes a mess of storylines and continuity mainly because when they change shift the writers forget what’s going on
I thought that too. Maybe it was arranged before the scandal broke when waste was a priority.
Yes, apologies, I meant Juliette Binoche.
Thanks for the correction.
The clip is here: It's a full on Tubs interview with a major star. Constantly referring to notes, talks through her, `she goes into a bit of depth about what receiving the Oscar means to her, he follows up by going to a clip on the screen, he gets defensive and patronising when she points out she's made a lot more films than the English Patient over the past 15 years, interrupts again and is obviously pissed with her after she corrects him on 'small movies'.
He actually admits his lack of intellectual depth by stating he prefers blockbuster 'popcorn and coke [sic]' movies to ones with more depth.
She throws three majors pieces of bait to him about her views on cinema and the film world, where he can expand the interview and make something of it. He turns them down every time and sticks rigidly to the cards. He asks he about Sarkozy and interrupts her answer. Has another dig at her just before the end instead of fleshing out what she was saying and asks one last question and gets her out the door.
She was intellectually too far ahead of him, even speaking in her second language. He should stick to interviewing TikTokers.
The interview should be dissected by media students as to how not to do an interview. And they wonder why they can't get A-listers on the show.
Brolly makes a multiple of what he’d get from RTÉ from his day job. Unlike Tubs and Co., it’s not his full time job.
But you know this of course.
it’s such a humongous nothing burger that here you are 5 weeks into this attacking anyone who dares to criticize Tubs, NK, the wider NK “Family”, or RTÉ.
Anyone who criticizes them or their behaviours in your eyes seem to be male, obsessed, and paranoid to varying degrees.
To steal an abbreviated line from Hamlet methinks you doth protest too much…..if it’s really the giant nothingburger you claim it to be, there’s no need for you to keep defending the main characters 5 weeks on.
2.2 million down on Licence fees this month so far. Yes nothing to see here haha.
Very first second “what brings you to Ireland “
bad start , more like like drew Harris job interview
Thanks for the link! (I really need to brush up on my search skills).
That one particular comment "forgive us lowly cinema goers that enjoy Jurassic Park, Mission Impossible".. Jesus, how patronising!
If Katryn Thomas is after getting the ROT gig alongside Daithi, does that mean that RTE management are back negotiating with NKM? Bakhurst said previously he will not engage with him.
Or did she do all her own negotiating?
All fees agreed between RTE and Contractors should be available for everyone to see.
Bakhurst said he wouldn't with Tubs, plus of course he can always say he isn't and its legal/contracts etc
Many many instances of this, the guy was useless
IMO it is old school RTÉ. RTÉ's first summer of Fair City focus solely on Hughie and his wife and some crime gang something to do with loan sharks.
Almost all of the regular cast did not appear on the show. And as you say the regulars have 30 - 35 week contracts so you get shifts. Nice work ... if you can get it.
It was said a good while ago that a woman will be hosting also.
I assume they knew then.
I watch Fair City. Done petitions the lot on it.
However it's another element that shows how badly run RTE is.
When Covid hit in March 2020.
They ran out of episodes almost instantly. The cut back to two a week then one a week.
The last episode aired on Easter Sunday 2020 and the St.Patricks Day decorations were still up.
It didn't return until September.
A few characters in the last few years have left very aprrutly.
I think that I can recall Will Ferrell saying "Fair City is not very fair"
I'd say that Fair City is may a month at most ahead of what is broadcast. I have no real issue with Fair City. I view it as a soap. But its costs is way out of kilter with the market that it exists in. And as you point out the production of the show is badly run.
Have RTÉ ever replied to your petitions/emails?
On that Juliette Binoche interview, what work where they doing in the background? I can't watch it myself he's a fool, but she's amazing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EF2nY9LVCOQ
I think Kathryn Thomas may be on one of those contracts where she's committed to doing X amount of hours of radio a year and Y amount of TV.
it's possible they are giving her this to fill those gaps, possibly this was thought of months ago. Either way, she's been stealing a living for a couple of decades now.
No Irish government made up of any of the current 'major parties' would ever let RTE 'go broke', even if the intention was to launch an overhauled PSB on much the same lines a couple of years down the road, a sort of 'Glasgow Rangers Newco' option. This is because there would be massive disruption to news, current affairs, sport etc. in the interim period.
