The clip is here: It's a full on Tubs interview with a major star. Constantly referring to notes, talks through her, `she goes into a bit of depth about what receiving the Oscar means to her, he follows up by going to a clip on the screen, he gets defensive and patronising when she points out she's made a lot more films than the English Patient over the past 15 years, interrupts again and is obviously pissed with her after she corrects him on 'small movies'.
He actually admits his lack of intellectual depth by stating he prefers blockbuster 'popcorn and coke [sic]' movies to ones with more depth.
She throws three majors pieces of bait to him about her views on cinema and the film world, where he can expand the interview and make something of it. He turns them down every time and sticks rigidly to the cards. He asks he about Sarkozy and interrupts her answer. Has another dig at her just before the end instead of fleshing out what she was saying and asks one last question and gets her out the door.
She was intellectually too far ahead of him, even speaking in her second language. He should stick to interviewing TikTokers.
The interview should be dissected by media students as to how not to do an interview. And they wonder why they can't get A-listers on the show.

Fair city seem to operate shifts , you’d have shift A for a week or two then shift B for a while , makes a mess of storylines and continuity mainly because when they change shift the writers forget what’s going on

well yeah,didnt have the time or interest to ask everybody that works here(250+people) but theyve all different interests(news,current affairs,sport,motor racing,film,culture,music etc) ages(20yrs+ to over 60+) so a fair though small cross section..and im sorry but none of them want to watch it..

just did a wild quick vote with workmates,about 2 dozen or so and they all said no,i dont want to watch it,the only person i know that watches rte is my mother and i think thats because she keeps losing the remote..

Well then you should try Louise McSharry's podcast! I can't recommend it enough! (You might actually enjoy it I don't know, I can't say I'd be listening to either).
Never heard of her. I’d rather unblock a toilet in Croke Park than listen to Joe Brolly’s podcast. I’d imagine it is full of snorting, guffawing, long-winded stories, name dropping, and petty points scoring.

Brolly can’t get work on RTE, BBC or anywhere else for that matter. So he did the most unimaginative thing an egotistical middle-aged bore can do - he started a boring podcast. If Brolly was a regular in your local pub then you’d find a new local. He’d be on the cover of Ireland’s Great Bores.
Might you be referring to the Juliette Binoche interview instead of Marion Cotillard? I remember watching it when it first aired.. 2010. (wish I could find a clip to it now but here's a thread on it :https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2056120600/ryan-tubridy-juliette-binoche )
It really showed up Tubridy for his lack of 'talent'. Juliette Binoche.. one of the most beautiful women in the world but also blessed with intelligence and very articulate.. and Tubridy conducted the 'interview' with a frown on his forehead because he knew he was completely out of his depth.
To make matters worse, in an attempt to save face, he then went on to belittle her on the following weeks radio show. If it's not a Kathryn Thomas or Roseanna Davidson type.. the gimps mask becomes undone!

Top cast members like Tony Tormey and Aisling O’Neill could be booked for 30 to 35 weeks and earn between €99,000 and €150,000 a year on the show.
Other well known faces from Carrigstown could only get 10 or 15 weeks, which means they could earn as little as €26k a year.
Just to make this clear. Actor on Fair City get between €1.8k to €5k per week.
So lets you get a 40 week run on the lowest level, you would be earning €70k per year, but realisticaly because RTÉ run on a 35 week year you'd "only" get €63k.
Yes on the weeks you don't work on Fair City, you work in other jobs. That is how it works.
I'd wonder how much cast members of Red Rock and Ros Na Run get, and if actors equity are worried about their income.

Whilst it mightn't be to everybodies taste The Rose of Tralee has been fairly consistent with the last few years with Dáithí Ó Sé but for some reason they needed to add Kathryn Thomas to the mix.
