Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

I dont know but did it occur to anyone in RTE to check? I doubt it.
Plus, only people in front of the camera would need to be Irish. The rest could be natives.
We don't know how many people are over there, but if RTE is as stuck for cash as has been reported, sending a large entourage to the other side of the planet is an expensive affair.
Sheehan needs to get down off his high horse. His boss DOB still has questions to answer regarding the awarding of Ireland's second mobile phone licence.
I have the opposite problem, I have disliked him for years and his unwatchable way of presenting and interviewing, but as I said before, out of maybe 10 female family and in-laws, they all want him back, I work with about another 10 females age range 30 to mid 50's, not all but probably 8 of them think he is innocent and should be back, I genuinely can't get a better answer from them other than, he is good at the late late, and sure wasn't he great to get us through covid. I sometimes think I'm in the matrix and this just can't be real, how stupid are these people
😂😂😂😂😂 sweet Jesus, is this a joke?
Even if he is, that won't be the end of it. The JNLR figures will be critical for him. There is a delay in the data being collected, calculated and published. So he would have a period of grace, but if those numbers start tumbling he's done for. If that happens it would also reflect very badly on Kevin Bakhurst's judgement.
Didn't Gaybo do 2 hours a day on the radio and he usually brought material to the shows? How did Tubs get to do 1 hour of shite talking and music?
I would take that data set with a pinch of salt. 16800 people interviewed for last data set and I was part of that. The questions are repetitive and there is no grey area or explanation wanted or required for any nuances. Also, once you do one survey, you are invited to repeated surveys. With that, I would argue it's not random enough and it represents the continuous tastes of the data set rather than a sample of the radio market. It's a massive extrapolation to the rest of the population. The claim is 3.3m people still listen to the radio based on those answers. Lots of us listen on the way to work for an hour or two. That's about it for most people. Might be on in the background in work but are you really listening to that show ?
It doesn't matter if you personally take them with with a pinch of salt, they are given importance in the industry and every newspaper prints the results when they are published.
when they are down, it's easily dismissed and when they are up they are celebrated. Happens on every single show. Tubs show figures up or down matter not a jot. If he came back, I would fully expect them to be higher based on people's curiosity. Ireland loves a scandal and we never punish.
Never understood why RTÉ never used the diaspora for international news.
Denis O'Brien has largely left the Irish market AFAIK, Newstalk is with Bauer and the Indo is with Meidahaus.
It depends on how much they are down, for example, Tubridy lost 40% of the audience he inherited when he was on 2FM. Any other person, in any other station would of been sacked.
News agencies all over the world use local stringers for news events. And there are Irish people all over the world. So....
That's not the RTE way.
Dee has been busy.
She’ll struggle to work again.
It's all become a "nothingburger"
TV licences purchased in the third week of July fall 37% compared to last year (thejournal.ie)
It looks like nothingburgers all round to go.
Amazing. The high priestness of corporate waffleology takes down her LinkedIn profile.
Perhaps, she has decided to step back in order to think about her plan moving forward at this challenging juncture. Possibly to do a deep dive on potential new career journeys that may open up in the short to medium term.
She is at home right now doing a SWOT analysis.
More like ringing all her old contacts in the UK media scene to see if there's any handy numbers going on boards or possibly a senior consulting position!
She might be sitting on a couple of mill in salary and a fat going away gift from RTE, but those designer spectacles don't buy themselves lads.
Meanwhile at the Irish Times....
If this continues, the Nothingburger fans will have to start singing of a different hymn sheet.
I'm sorry to see the RTE worker bees suffer as a result but this is a necessity. Growth like death is painful. This is national Kemo.
A couple of days ago it was revealed that RTE could run out of money in 4 weeks.
This won't help RTE especially if this continues and it may hasten a government bailout without any preconditions such as RTE has to live within it's means and not rely on government top ups.
If this is the case, let them bleed out. Be rid of it. Soft culture. Its over.
I don't see how this
This won't help RTE
follows from this
it may hasten a government bailout without any preconditions such as RTE has to live within it's means and not rely on government top ups.
Isn't "a government bailout without any preconditions" exactly what RTE wants right now. Seems to me they're very much in a "the worse the better" situation as far as mass licence fee evasion goes...
Alas probably true instead of drastic cuts and redundancies - but this is the way of RTE, run to the government for a bailout because you know we're the predominant station in Ireland and everyone loves us and what would they do without Fair City and Eastenders to watch of an evening, and Liveline is the voice of Joe Duffy Ireland
Well how many of the general public want RTE bailed out by the government without any preconditions?
I know its what RTE wants but is it what RTE will get?
Well you're saying mass boycott of the licence fee will hasten this outcome, unless I've picked you up wrong.😕
So yes I'm entirely certain RTE will get a bailout in the near future, probably not entirely without preconditions, but it will be impossible to determine the proposed reforms are taking effect before the bill falls due...
Well I think we will see an increase in a boycott of the licence fee but not sure if it will be a mass boycott as what percentage of non payment is a mass boycott?
The problem for RTE is they need a bailout within the next 4 weeks and preconditions may not be an option.
