This feels more like Up For The Match than post All Ireland banquet.

One of the things that always amazes me is how these lads are in a fit state to be interviewed at 11:30pm for national telly.

Fair play to Limerick for going home, right headache for RTE

They better get used to it from here on in unless Dublin pull off a miracle!

Kilkenny were out the door too and I'm sure every other county will follow suit!

He definitely is. He financed the cancer wing of UHL to the tune of millions. Personal experience here. My OH received top treatment in that wing, before he passed away last month in Milford Hospice, which J.P. also funds.

Years ago, he asked me for directions to the Catherine McAuley School. Found out later, he has given a power of money to that school. Great cause.

Not very. Failed to score from play in either the semi final or final. They got excited about him showing up at corner back in the Leinster Final but he's picked as a forward and scoring is how most forwards tend to be judged. No doubt he is very over-rated right now. Too static and not available for the ball played into space like most good forwards.

    P.Casey got MOTM

Kyle Hayes got (RTÉ) hurler of the year, which surprised me a bit. I’d have Gillane, T.Morrissey and Byrnes all ahead of him.

Agree totally with you as a neutral, JP has done a lot of good for people and looks for no big publicity and his love for hurling has done more for the game than the gaa have done in recent years, example the Dillon Quirke that the gaa messed up. JP has done a lot of good. How many of Irelands big names and money people done for their own area. What has bono, etc done,

All Ireland in July, no post match banquet, no minor final, all very sad.

By fit do you mean not full of pints? They’ve all had a few drinks but JP is fairly strict on them keeping themselves in check. They’re representing the county and are wearing his pride and joy Adare Manor on their right tits. He’ll look after them if they behave themselves. They went abroad on their team holiday a couple of years back and the rule was no drinking on the flights over but they could do what they wanted when they got there. At all times, they’re representing the county and they’re fairly well reminded of it by all accounts. This thing with Pat Ryan I wouldn’t be surprised if JP made the call to bin him off.

With regards to todays game. It was men against boys for the last 30 minutes. Which is ironic considering Kilkenny are relying on the geriatric Richie Hogan coming in off the bench to try and change the game for them. The man doesn’t even look like an inter county hurler anymore. Lyng should have cut him from the panel the minute he got the job to send out a statement to the rest of them. I can’t remember at what stage he came on today but if he touched the ball once I’d say it was a lot. Kilkenny were their usual dogged selves for the first half but the touch of class took over then when Limerick woke up. Kilkenny were hammered today and it can’t be dressed up any other way. This Limerick team, and I’ve said it a few times in the last couple of years, are chasing history. They’ll do the 5 in a row no problem I don’t see how any other team will improve that much in the next 9 months. They are just an awesome team.

One word on JP McManus. Anyone who has anything negative to say about him has no actual knowledge of the man or what he does or has done or will continue to do. I’ve met him and he’s nicer than he comes across in interviews. A total gent and the unseen work he does in Limerick and across Ireland is something else. A remarkable man.

To say he looks for no publicity is a little bit untrue as everyone seems to know about all his philanthropic acts a lot better than he can explain where his money came from or how much tax he pays.

Because it’s the Sunday game. Limerick at the peak of their powers today. KK had no answer in the 2nd half. Horsing long ball into that half back line is not the way to beat ye. It’ll be figured out in about 5yrs time.

The motm award and the whole Joanne Cantwell outside broadcast looked absolutely dreadful. It’s gone from a suited and booted banquet dinner to what looked like the smoking area out the back of a pub. Looked terribly twee and amateurish, exactly what Donal Og was complaining about.

dont agree , limerick decided to have it at home , split season is a master stroke by the gaa , only fair weather supporters could be complaining of it

If I was a player, I'd much more enjoy tonight's chilled affair than being kept in Dublin for a banquet. Let them at it

Donal Og has some chip on his shoulder. He really needs to have a bit more balance. Upset because every paper has not got hurling front and center from last Monday to next Friday

Really gas watching the follow up to the announcement of hurler of the year. Donal Og has hard on for Quaid all year. I say he was upset because he did not get on the RTE team of the year. To add insult to injury he was not in the running for player of the year.

There must have been a bit of an argument before the show between Jackie Tyrell and Donal Og. Joe Canning announced the winner and told them have at it.

Tyrell left Donal Og waffle on and then put him back in his box. He made the point that Kyle Hayes has won every one of his battles this year and scored in a good few games as well and as Jackie said he was having a quite season this year.

JT was correct Hayes was immense in the Munster Round robin and if you consider that Limerick wouldn't be in the final if they got knocked out of Munster this year.

Donal Og's comments about the Tailteann Cup especially considering his involvement in the GPA exposed his true colours.
