Can someone please tell me what this symbol means?
Renault
It’s the diesel particulate filter warning.
Great thanks I'll pass that on.
So much for add blue at €32 per 10litres at Applegreen eh.
That's pricey enough, you'll get 10l for €20 in Aldi or €21 in B&Q.

I know yeah but it's a work vehicle and a fuel card is used at Applegreen for diesel, oil, add-blue and car wash.
Absolute daylight robbery though.
And not doing much good it would seem on a 2022 vehicle.
I don't think adblue has anything to do with the DPF.
Short journeys and not getting the engine up to temp is what clogs the DPF.
IMO diesel has had its day. There's more equipment in the engine to clean the emissions than to make the wheels spin.
Thought that's what it was specifically brought out for.
What does it do so?
The DPF is used to capture diesel exhaust soot created when the engine is cold. When the engine heats up and the exhaust gets hot, the captured soot is vaporised.
The problem is that many people don't drive the regular long journeys required to get the engine to temperature. So the soot blocks up the DPF and you get that engine light.
Adblue is a mix of urea and water whe. Is injected further down the exhaust to reduce nitrous oxide emissions.
It wasnt brought out for that - it was brought out to reduce emissions further after the dpf has done its work. Not all diesels use adblue.
Dpf cleans the emissions as they are leaving the engine ie they trap the unburnt fuel as soot and then when the car regenerates it turns this unburnt fuel into ash which comes out the exhaust which is why they have a lifespan - once they block with ash they are basically useless.
Adblue is usually injected after the dpf system unless the car has a Dpf / Cat combined (the DPF is always first and then the cat second) where it can be injected in to the catalyst but still after the dpf. Adlbue mixes with the exhaust gases specifically Nitrogen oxides (NOX) converting them into harmless Nitrogen and water.
Thats a simple explanation. While the 2 work together to reduce emissions a blocked dpf wont be fixed by filling with adblue.
One of the reason why people think a fill of adblue will unblock a dpf is because if there is a fault with the adblue system at all (low tank / blocked injector etc) it usually wont allow the car to regenerate until that issue is resolved.
It's almost comical that at one stage people were urged to buy diesels.
Never bought one myself and never will.
Adblue and DPF problems are the bane of my life. Not a day goes by where there is someone with one issue or the other.
The problem is that when the green party urged people to buy diesels you had the little old person buying them and literally only driving to their local shop every day. They never even get a chance to regenerate.
There was one old lady that I remember really well and she had 2 dpfs replaced under warranty plus multiple forced regens.
She used to bring the car into us once a months for us to drive up and down the m50 because she had never driven on a motorway or dual carriage way in her life. The manufacturer wouldnt cover a 3rd dpf because it was down to driving style and she was told she`d need to drive it properly to keep the dpf from getting blocked so she got us to drive it for her.
That was a regular thing with the older generation that bought into the diesel thing.
And no doubt the people selling these vehicles knew full well that most older people would have that issue.
They wouldn't be told, all they could see was the chape tax and 50 plus mpg 😏
Not the dealers fault - I told loads of customers at the time to stick to their petrols - most wouldnt listen to the advice of experts over the government advice.
Comical?? almost comical?Didn't and don't buy people buy diesels for fuel economy, driving long distances.Truckers,Buses and Trains must have something wrong with them.
never heard that story before that auld wans bought diesels and didn't now how to drive them.wish I could meet a few and make a few euros.too late now I suppose but at least 10 years to do something
Open a DPF cleaning shop and you’ll make a few quid off them
It's still happening, a neighbour of mine complaining there's a light on on her 171 Renault Captur, dpf is like a clinker according to her mechanic, she does home visits for the HSE, the car never covers more than a 5 mile radius. Be a great job for an old leaf.
Seriously?
You know full well that's not the demographic I was on about.
You must have big muscles moving goalposts all over the place.
