New thread as old one is nearly at 10000 post limit.
Old thread
He has started all of his four rounds well for them to more or less peter out. Needs to not let that happen again.
Ah excellent chip. Should roll that in to stay at six.
Ya 6th sorry. He's chipped his second which wasn't easy to within around a foot.
Ooofff tracker on that drive was wild
Wild tee shot on 7th, well right, but he might have got a break hopefully.
No sign of a meltdown with Harman. Swinging very smoothly
Second would be a good result
Big putt coming up for Harman
Not really. He needs to be winning majors. Settling for being first of the losers is why he isn’t winning majors for almost a decade.
Yes, would set him up nicely for the...no, wait, this is the last major of the year.
Second here is failure for Rory I'm afraid.
It can be both a good result and a disappointment for McIlroy. Not mutually exclusive outcomes.
Outrageous tee on nine
Harman with what could prove to be a crucial early par after dropping a shot on the last hole. Was hoping he'd miss as the nerves definitely would have been jangling then. The lead would have been down to 4.
Nope, best of the rest behind a massive performance by the winner is a good result
Rahm looks to have got a massive break on his tee shot on the par 5 5th. The easiest hole on the course. He went left and into the gorse but it looks like he's found a gap between bushes.
You should get a job as Rory’s brain coach
a bit tentative that Putt
Rory has done it again. Should have made birdie on 9. The putt lags left. He missed a similar birdie putt there yesterday as well.
Do you know who has the most second places in majors
Do you know who cares?
Poor effort, should be attacking everything. Miss by going two feet past. But playing well. Still hope for him.
How could Rahm get that lucky?
Harman needs to feel some heat on the leaderboard. As it is, he's looking up and seeing pars will be grand.
Yes they definitely care
It's one of the reasons they also have the most wins
Ooohhh Harman is in trouble there
Rory not going to be in a position to take advantage on 10.
Same as previous three days. Round petering out for him.
!0th the hardest hole -Rory hits his best drive and still converts it into a bogey.
Fair enough I'll recant that statement and say McIlroy is a step ahead of every single player in the game and is clearly the dominant player in the game's history and clearly has actually massively overachieved since 2014.
Great Putt by Harman. Probably done now
I think many posters have mis read / mis understood your post
I'd agree entirely, but would probably change the first sentence to say he's just another "top tier" player these days.
That killer instinct he had 10 years ago is gone, but that's how sport goes.
But he's still a top tier player and will be challenging for a top 10 finish for a few years yet. Probably will still win another major or two, but to do so will need a special effort and probably a wee bit of luck.
This weekend will not be his.
Good par save from Rory. I think it's too big an ask to win now though. But he can have a good finish.
It's fine margins the commentators say. And it is, as Rory's putt just catches the edge of the lip of the hole and stays out. When you look at the lucky breaks some of the other players like Harman and Rahm are getting. And as I say that, Day chips in from off the green.
