The bizarre thing is that regular plates are not available here (even pre-Gamestop and Argos' departure). I would have thought Smyths would have stocked them.
I had to get my Cosmic Red faceplate from Amazon.de.
I got my plates long before the official ones, I'm using a set of DBrand Darkplate 1.0s
I was very tempted by them but the shipping/customs on the 2.0s was just too high. Are they good? They look pretty cool.

I have three aswell (Purple, God of War and the White one that came with the console). I might sell an Xbox controller to make way for the Spider-Man Dualsense.
They're great, went with the matt black vinyl for the centre as well.

About the face plates, have Sony ever explained why they aren't sold in retailers like Smyths over here?
No, I would imagine its down to each retailer on if they think the product will sell of not but wouldnt hurt to ping an email to sony somehow and try find out.
Saw someone on reddit who checked with Smyths and they confirmed they won't be stocking them at all.
It's absolute madness that Sony don't have a Playstation Direct store for Ireland.

New PS5 update beta being sent out to people today with full update releasing later this year. Nothing groundbreaking but praise jeebus, you can now mute the system startup beep! You can also enable haptics while navigating system menus.... Just in case you were looking for even more ways to unnecessarily drain the battery.

Biggest change there is probably the Dolby Atmos support, it's been available on Xbox for years(albeit as a premium add on for €20).
