Thanks, good to hear.
I've tried Argentina, Turkey and India.
I'll give it another try before I pay full whack
Argentina and India have new finance laws, turkey should be easy to do though.
I'm the same. I have tried it lots on different days.
I've been having the same issue, my Indian subscription failed after my card expired and wouldn't let me update it. Have tried Argentina, Turkey and India and have had no luck with any of them. Just signed up to Singapore. Its more expensive than the others but at least a little bit cheaper than the Irish one.
I tried setting up in Turkey, India and Argentina and none would work, giving the 'Transaction declined. This purchase requires a payment method from your billing country. [OR-REH-05]'.
Ended up getting it to work for Ukraine (individual €2.50 p/m or family €3.50 p/m), I guess with the massive amount of Ukrainians displaced from the country that this rule for the card being in the same country has been relaxed there.
I set up a new Google account, created a youtube family and added my existing account to it to avoid having to re-subscribe to everything.
@redtom33 what VPN did you use to get Ukraine working? was it a paid VPN?
Cheers
i got it working with Ukraine using Urban VPN with revolut virtual mastercard, €3.64 a month for family.
First time, no issues with 'billing country' error
I used Surfshark
Thanks @redtom33 I've just signed up to Ukraine.
i had mine on turkey last year..it was due for renewal today, tried turkey using vpn and revolut but got the country error.
connected to india vpn and clicked on renew and used an indian card and it worked fine.
Just a tip: laying annually does work out cheaper, but you need to handle the renewal each year. If you get a good deal and pay monthly it just keeps going. I've been paying ~€2ish for Indian youtube for last few years, any changes they've made don't affect me. Something to keep in mind...
I think the problems start when your card expires.
I had a young French student visiting. He was studying computer engineering. I had a laptop to which I had forgotten the password. He opened it in 6 minutes. Then he installed Premium YouTube and Spotify for free on my phone.
He finally asked...."are they any email accounts you would like me to hack for you?"...
Genius.
Why didn't you ask him how he did it?
@redtom33 You legend. Ukraine has done the trick.
I have an Indian YouTube family (paid monthly, no annual payment option for family). Got message that I need update payment option.
Is there any way to get an Indian bank card via Revolut or another method? I am getting error that card should be from the same country.
I got a payment error notification.
Card still two years in date so not sure what happened.
It won't allow me to change or add a payment method. Am I missing something?
Signed up and working through Ukraine still
Got it set up this evening to turkey.
Turned off my location.
Only issue was setting up another family member. I had to turn on the VPN on their phone to turkey to allow them accept the invitation.
It's usually easier to set up the family first, then sign up for premium.
I remembered that too late 🫣
Thanks @redtom33 I've just signed up to Ukraine
I’m currently in Turkey and I’m premium the last 2/3 years from here.
Was setting my wife up today and I’m being hit with the card issue as being issued from another country. Tried Revolut and N26.
Time to switch from Turkey or is there a way around it?
Do you need to link your email address to the country you want to sign up in?
Or can you use existing email address but VPN plus local billing address?
An existing email address with an Argie local billing address worked for me
You must be only getting this email now, I got that email last November or so from Google. Tried all methods to update new card to India but no joy so cancelled sub and moved the family to Argentina, started at €3.50 per month and now with exchange rates it is €2.40 per month - paid via Rev Virtual Mastercard. Not an issue since, touch wood. PS. Had family set up prior to moving also.
Hmm. Once I cliked 'Buy' - nothing seemed to happen - even though Google verified my card (Revolut MC).
I think I actually turned off the VPN at this point and payment went through. Try that, it could have worked for me - was last year so can't remember exactly. I did have to turn the VPN off for certain subs when trying to confirm payment and went through.
What VPN did you use?
Damn it anyway
When I try to subscribe now, via either Argentina or Ukraine, all I get is USD pricing 13.99 per month.
This is trying using Windscribe and then KeepSolid.
