Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

But they must go down with the ship and take responsibility for success and failure.
Nice guys finish last.
My post is being taken out of context. The question I was originally answering is below.
And how many of those companies paying that rate are begging for millions from the government each year?
I used the example of the HSE in that the HSE are an organisation asking for millions billions from the government each year.
My post showed that there are an awful lot of government organisations with their hands out and who have staff being paid over €100k on the books.
I agree with you on that point. Those who think €100k will attract top managerial talent are not living in the modern world.
RTE however seem to not just overpay the “talent”, they seem to grossly overpay management too.
What a ****head.
Did Paul not say goodbye to him as he walked away from the LLS?
But they aren't getting top quality management. I think this is where the issue lies, its not that those in charge shouldn't get paid well its that they didn't do their job.
As you say your work 30 - 25 hour week, I assume you also have good holidays 30 - 40 days per year. Do you think they are doing more than you? or less? or have more knowledge in their field than you in yours? I'd expect that Dee Forbes, Noel Curran and Kevin Bakhurst should be able to sit down with me and have a broad conversation about the services that RTÉ provide and would have a good knowledge of those service and where they are positioned.
do you think they have shown their worth? and if it is a case that you aren't getting that calibre even though you are forking out €250k plus expenses and a car allowance. What do you do? Take the chance on someone who's only senior broadcasting position was CEO of a local radio station? Or the Head of BBC Foyle?
The problem with all the board however is no one was accountable or responsible. It was all those meanies Dee and Noel. 🙄
The RTE Execs haven't shown their worth.
That said, getting good replacements for them will cost more than €100k per head.
It was jobs for the boys culture and a golden circle with the tap on full blast that got caught by an outsider; Dell-oited.
Indeed , you are quite correct there, however comparing the Hse with over 100,000 people employed and RTE with around 1800 employed is a little lob sided, I’d say mesel.
How much would an energetic young executive like yourself Brendan do the DG job for?
Yep. Agreed. Although, in my defence, I did state that what RTE get in comparison to the HSE is chickenfeed. And I also said that fact doesn't absolve RTE of their shennanigans.
It's a very odd thing to do and a very odd story to tell to the press or anyone for that matter??
I repeatedly badgered someone for a selfie despite being told no clearly.
Eh OK, well done...like wtf.
Yes, indeed you did.
As I see it leaving aside from the presenters wedge, RTE management showed up to be, from a long way back, to have
supported a cartel, allowed outside agencies to have far too much clout, were seemingly led along by the nose by the so called ‘Top Ten’ and stovepiped everything they could from their paymasters- JQ Taxpayer.
Only pure luck they were found out.
I can't disagree with that.
To be fair to RTE this is the best entertainment they've served up for years
Wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole Dr. Way too toxic and disfunctional.Wouldn’t be into cleaning up the decades of easy touch management that brought the place to where it is now.
Now if I had been brought in earlier I would certainly have shifted the dead wood out of the gaff, ensured that the on air dudes were too tired to do these off campus gigs for 3 or4 g a pop.
Wouldnt have the energy for it now Dr.
I agree to the point where I think its made up to a degree.
Bad stories travel faster and keep this twat in his sphere.
Two horrible basterds LYING to the Loyal Public they rob.
Speak the Queen's English you kent or Irish you dope.
You're an embarrassment to your self, family and nation.
You're a bar manager at best.
Well Tubs is not being paid for his knowledge or his talent which is limited.
Adrian you're nearly 50.
The hair do.
Fook off.
1990's
What are you doing Daddy?
Prepping Mr. Tubrity.
Tubrity Toilets?
No my dear. KB is the toilet.
You talk a lot of **** dad.
I do.
Complete BS and I can usually spot it 😉
Out of curiousity, which industry are you in? Lower-Middle management tech or PR is my guess. I would PIP you for being on Boards so much.
This isn't Linkedin spoofer! MBA from Trinity me arse 😂
You might be on the button.
Devil in the details.
I was the only one who responded to this argument and I received no THANKS or post.
RT is a wanker balls to bone like his Grand Father.
Im not mistaking anything. I quoted the other poster 👍
Less of the personals please, Cluedo. I'd never work in PR!
I'm a self-employed contractor working in tech in an extremely niche role that is well-paid. We exist. Lots of us. I'm paid for my knowledge, not for my time.
I don't have a MBA from Trinity. I do have a PhD from Trinity though. I don't want to say too much more as I don't want someone stalking me online just because I present hard facts (like having to pay C-Suite level employees C-Suite level wages; that a lot of the issues with RTÉ are because of non-payment of the licence fee, and that it should be replaced with a standing charge gathered through electricity bills, that Tubridy is a reasonable presenter who brings in multiples of his salary in advertising, and that a lot of this outrage was just silly season stuff).
I don't think the public will tolerate Tubridy being back on air at RTE. The drop off in license fees should act as a wake up call to Bakhurst unless he too is blessed with the same lack of self awareness as Tubridy. Tubridy is no longer a star name in fact he should be seen as a name which will cast a negative shadow over RTE as long as he remains on their books in whatever capacity.
Indeed when all the 'top' earners in RTE who appear either on radio or tv have their contracts up for renewal then they should have their salaries slashed to a max of 200k. The public are not going to accept excessive remuneration for mediocrity. The last decent broadcaster on RTE was Sean O'Rourke.
Are RTE seriously trying to tell us that no one born in Ireland during the decades of the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's has emerged who can match up to Sean O'Rourke. A nation that produced Olivia O'Leary, Terry Wogan, Eamonn Andrews, Gaybo, Brian O'Farrell, John Bowman, Mike Murphy, Gerry Ryan and Pat Kenny has suddenly dried up its well of talent. Horse manure.
it should be replaced with a standing charge gathered through electricity bills
Would it not be more 'progressive' (not to mention simpler) to source RTE funding from general taxation, as the rich, corporations etc. would contribute proportionately more, whereas a specific broadcasting charge would presumably cost Michael O'Leary the same as some lad on the dole...
Ya, that could work as well. Not too sure what the precedent is though for funding semi-states through general taxation. I think getting ESB Networks to just put a charge on every electricity bill would work better. Commercial properties would be charged more. There might be complexities there with prepaid meters, knowing which accounts are registered to pensioners etc that I'm not aware of though.
Tubridy doesn’t bring in the advertising, the station and the slot do. He’s at best responsible for a very small % of it. You act like there would be no advertising on the radio show if he wasn’t the host and there would be no advertising on the LLS if there was another host, both of which are simply not true.
Your statement is akin to Geraldine O’Leary’s claim that she brought in €1.6 billion (apologies if that’s not the correct figure she stated) in advertising in her time there. Was she responsible for some of it? Yes. All of it? Absolutely not. And again, it’s not like there would be €0 revenue if there was someone else in that role.
I’ve also never seen a “silly season” story last over 4 weeks, with more to come.
Nothing to Hide for Tubs
