I flew ORD-DUB on EI-EIL last week in economy. I could have done without the big metal box occupying around half my leg room, but leaving that aside I didn't think the economy product was particularly rough.
The lack of TSA PreCheck was a much bigger nuisance for me. I'm working on the basis that that will never be fixed.
It’s a serious matter and they’ve been questioned by TDs for less so it should be headline news.
The issue being raised publicly is likely the only chance at management actually being shamed into doing something about it. That seems to be the culture at Aer Lingus unfortunately.
Once maintenance keep SNN based fleet going everything is fine inside Leinster House!
Delighted to see GEY back in the air, last of the Covid bunch!
DAA got the day off while EIL was inflicted on the unsuspecting Toronto passengers.
Noted on jethros for the latest A320NEO EI-NSC.

Do Aer Lingus only do Rome and Milan during the winter to Italy? Was looking at Venice for February but it's pretty much just Ryanair who are flying there. Seems a bit of a missed flight due to Carnevale but also nothing on that side of Italy for the mountains there.
Finally nice to see DAA fly to Orlando today!
-NSC and deliveries onwards have the larger overhead bins, USB A/C power and mood lighting.
Great. Thanks for the info. Be great to get a cabin photo once it's flight ready. Due in DUB tomorrow.
They serve Verona during winter too.
At last! The big o'head bins (per AA for example) make such a big difference. If they're the size that allows wheely bags on their side then there's much more chance of getting bags accommodated near your seat without hassle and will reduce, hopefully, the scrum to get on first to get bags up. Get this right and I'll forgive the unnecessary mood lighting...
I quite like the mood lighting, well the Airbus standard seen on the A321LR, not that cheap alternative Aer Lingus retrofitted into the older aircraft.
Good to hear about the larger bins and other improvements, this brings the short haul cabin up to the standard expected.
Pity it’ll probably take them another 10-15 years to replace the rest of the fleet!
Yes it’s the larger bins that allow the bags to be on their side and hold a lot more luggage. I quite like the mood lighting much nicer than glaring white light.
Be good to see EI-NSC in Dublin finally. Entry into service is of course an entirely different matter…
Due to do DUB-LHR on Saturday… fingers crossed
EI-NSC spec is excellent to see for Europe finally, mood lighting of a much higher spec with Airspace Cabin even USB-C option (!). Toilets even are, fancy (if that's possible!). 60% more luggage capacity versus A320ceo.
-SA/-SB cabin refits should be planned shortly (Timeframe I won't go there).
MPL-DUB as EIN995 this evening.
I’d imagine most passengers would much rather EI maintain their existing short-haul cabin with relatively comfortable seats over a cabin similar to that on BA’s neos
According to flight radar it's operating flight ei152 in the morning
True, however all short-haul in IAG for Airbus 320neo is now Y186. They are now moveable standard assets.
It arrived in very poor weather but here's a shot for the record.
Omg, so inconsistent with the rest of the fleet…. It has matching engine cowlings pfffft 🙄
EI-NSC is in service on EI152 DUB-LHR this morning.
There’s lads in the hanger with a white engine cowling ready to swap it out.
the engineering issue seems to be a yearly problem for EI. From what I’m told they lose loads every year and then struggle to keep the operation going. This year it’s particularly bad because FR are offering a huge amount and attracting loads across. EI management are just standing there with their hands in their pockets shrugging their shoulders. I guess they won’t actively do anything until they just can’t run the operation legally anymore, being capped in aircraft numbers is just the start. Surely it’s cheaper to increase their poor offer than to keep paying Privilege style a fortune to hire in ?!
Standard pennywise pound foolish approach from IAG/Embleton, so long as they can keep the deck of cards standing on the bare bones that's what they'll do.
Fairly standard in companies at the moment. Look at the health service vs private health. Same thing. Bleeding staff yet they won't do a single thing about it.
Really do not believe EI are being over zealous in a Y186 configuration, its main competitor operates with majority Y189, soon to be Y197 and has new aircraft on the way with nearly 230 seats for short haul. To be retaining a Y174 configuration in an ageing fleet which means increased cost would be foolish.
Being able to accommodate 12 extra revenue seats, with reduced operating costs is essential to remain competitive. The cabin will still be an upgrade versus its main European competitor.
The older A320's maybe more comfortable but the condition some of them are in with cheap stitched seat backs, shabby interiors - these Neo's simply can't come quick enough.
Does anyone know what kind of seatback pockets NSC has, if any?
Netted.
