Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

How is it "alleged"? They have provided the invoices and confirmed they paid 0% VAT on them. A nice little video with NK admitting it so.
Maybe the Gardai won't prosecute but it's illegal and admitted at PAC. So the statement about "nothing illegal" is incorrect
If they start getting exchequer funding rather than licence fee funding it could work out very well for RTE as the public would no longer be tapped for the fee every year.
The problem for RTE currently is that the general public are directly involved in how much RTE gets in funding. That's the reason Tubs was forced (to pretend) to take a pay cut when everyone was taking one. Had he not been seen to take one, then people had the right to legally not pay their licence fee if they were upset.
This is why the politicians are talking about "reform" of the licence fee.
Thinking that reading out the text was acceptable was daft, but nowhere near as daft as Verona Murphy's faux outrage.
I’d imagine they’re waiting for the story to die down some more before commenting. It’s not what I would do but you’d also have to assume they’ve gotten their collective derrières kicked by the French HQ and are probably paralyzed with fear of saying the wrong thing. I doubt you’ll hear from them for a while yet,
There was. And the he contradicted that in his own evidence on Tuesday,
As far as I remember, there was a comment early on that RT had asked/told RTE to arrange said chauffeur drive car for NKM’s Niamh.
“Every little helps”?
And what about all that pollution? 😮
Three weeks into this and the car company has remained silent
what’s going on?
If you are referring to the VAT, then yes I would agree.
RTE are probably paying the tax liabilitiy on top of the wages.....
They would be VAT registered, so yes there is 23% VAT on the fee, I've a feeling the published fee is the ex VAT amount?
The main saving for the 'star' is on PAYE / PRSI & USC as they draw a much more modest wage from their company over the years keeping the tax bill lower by spreading the income over a longer period of time, there would be a corporation tax liability but I'm sure they are offsetting expenses, reducing the annual profit thus lowering the liability.
Do you think they are guilty?
I don't want to go on about this but Shirley...
If RT oreded/recieved a car from RTE (€847) to attend a Renault LLS in Drogheda he'd have had to sign off/pay the guy.
If RT knew the car and driver were supplied by RTE his excuse of "seperarion of interests" doesn't hold tight?
Wonder know will RTE bring back DAB Digital radio to finally bring Ireland choice in radio that they we've identified what a corrupt body they've become.
You're forgetting one word "alleged". Not a chance of there ever being a prosecution never mind a conviction as a result of all this charade.
I suspect a lot will change at RTE. The Taoiseach said this week he thinks the TV licence system is outdated and should be replaced.
^^^this Guy Fooks^^^
Oh I know that. I was just high lighting the nonsense and charade of it all.
The conduct of Pat Kenny and Fanning this week proves that the upper echelons in the Irish media still have contempt for the public. They do not intend to change.
As I watch the committees and coverage around the Tubridy fraud peter out I suffer a sinking feeling that nothing will change.
The politicians jockey for a few soundbites and promptly disappear on holiday. The media elite pass the blame and steam on.
Only public action will force change. Mass refusal to pay the TV is the only instrument to dislodge the pigs from the trough.
Not paying the TV license was a reasonable position; it has become a moral imperative.
If you pay it you support Noel Kelly and Ryan Tubridy.
They forget what's inconvenient to their point of view.
Except all the illegal invoices
The moving money via a UK account to stop paying VAT in Ireland which is illegal
You forgot that bit?
Why?
The Ditch is worse than RTE….
Yes and businesses pay more, I don't think hotels et al pay any extra in Ireland, single licence covers the hotel no matter the size
Cable/satellite companies should pay some amount for the transmission - after all they charge customers for the privilege of the channels
Just talking to a mate who lives in Cavan, he said that 20 people had been up in court I think this week for non payment of tv licenses. The judge dismissed all the cases because of the carry on in RTE. Now he loves a story so I do put an * beside it
But interesting he made the comment about mass non payment with people he works/lives with. People are massively pis*rd off and he can see the numbers growing hugely in next 12 months.
interesting times ahead
Well Lottie is the daughter of his first client.
€200 million more in budget is part of the answer why Yie can operate without advertisements.
Other potential reasons - cable companies pay for the carriage of the national broadcaster / the Yie tax is collected by revenue / no loss of income to a collection agency ie An Post
I'm surprised the agent took them on their books.
I am surprised that Lottie Ryan and Ciara Doherty both had agents. I assumed that Ciara Doherty had been given the Tonight Show job because she was VMTV staff and it would be cheaper to produce. Audiences feel when the dropped Vinny B. and again when Yeats and Cooper left.
