Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

I’ll just leave this here as an example of the brain-dead defenders of RTÉ.
Dont ya see the real problem is that the Irish people haven’t been giving RTÉ enough of their money. if we gave RTÉ all the money they wanted there’d be no more scandals, only top class productions like we see in all the other wonderful European public broadcasters. It would be well worth it to have programmes that
variously reflect, interrogate and critique aspects of the culture and identity of the nation.
Like Eurovision but every day
This pair are doctors of the FuJo Institute at the Dublin City University school of communications
Did you know that the FuJo Institute is not a martial arts school but the Institute for Future Media Democracy and Society which is
a pioneering space to advance research, innovation and best-practice in journalism and media.
And it is generously funded by Sir Rupert Murdoch
(Just joking, can’t take this crap seriously)
Spoofer who believes his own bs.
Trying to gauge the mood rather than leading.
Dunphy has been on this from the start and didn’t wait to see which way the wind was blowing before he declared it “a grubby little stroke” by Tubridy. To say he waited is akin to saying you’ve read my posts on this topic and you think I’m pro-Tubridy and NKM.
Try a bit harder next time with the deflection and misinformation.
……
She is thinking whatever decisions I make on RTE will have an impact on the next election. She is too busy thinking about her job in the future and not her job now which entails her not **** around and handling the RTE situation properly and promptly.
I broke my hole laughing too. Its brilliant.
Never liked him from day one didn't watch late late or his radio show have young kids and never watched toy show like we say in Kerry he had sneakey ould head on him.
It seems the Minister might be busy putting out a fire of her own
Might be fair to highlight the last point in the piece;
“The minister submitted the correct claims for the period in question but owing to an administrative error by the department the wrong mileage was entered on the travel and subsistence system when processing the claim. The matter has been rectified.”
It does not affect my soul but it makes me happy.
She's not as I said no minister with responsibility for RTÉ has ever been returned to the department
Martin- unlikely to get reelected and unlike to retain dept in next dail
Bruton - Now Back bench FG
Naughton - Resigned as Minister
White - Did not contest election AFAIR, cycled up to Howth to offer Moya Dohert the chair of RTÉ (Two RTÉ Stickies AFAIK)
Rabbitte - Sacked because he was "too old" replaced by man not too far off his own age.
Carey - Out going FF in 2011
Ryan - Resigned and lost seat
Dempsey - Moved to Transport following election
All she is concerned with is retaining her seat as she knows she won't be back in government after the next election.
Apart from RT being very unlikely to return to RTE, has anything actually happened of any significance? Or will anything happen?
RTE on the verge of financial collapse. They will need emergency funding imminently.
Dave Fanning disgraced himself again this week according to Eamon Dunphy.
No and unlikely - same old brigade with one of their own in charge
Look to Finland (ad free), same population as Ireland, and the likes for how RTE should be run - multiple channels in multiple languages and the most anyone pays is 140 euro a year, more employees than RTE and still successful - I wonder why that is
Convenient that eh! Always the pesky little people causing problems. I wonder when did she realise she was overpaid or maybe because she earns so much in tax payer funded expenses, how would you expect her to notice a few grand difference here or there. Kettle and pot maybe
It wasn’t just according to Dunphy. It’s according to anyone with any degree of impartiality and general cop on. To comment like he did when his agent is involved in the scandal AND he’s a contractor for RTÉ AND attempt to ridicule the work of the committee like he did is outrageous. He should be suspended from RTÉ for his tweet.
Fanning is a very lucky man. One could say Kelly’s greatest ever achievement - even more than getting obscene fees for Tubs, even more than getting Lottie Ryan a job despite any evidence of talent - is the fact that he’s kept Fanning “employed” for so long at 2FM (the National Youth radio station btw), when Fanning is older than most grandfathers and stuck in a time warp musically.
A very lucky man indeed.
Fanning should be put out to pasture. He is an idiot well past his sell by date.
Any Reno cars I knew gave expensive trouble. You'll never beat word of mouth for advertising
Any presenter in the NKM stable should be barred from commenting on the situation regardless of who they work for but most definitely anyone in RTE
That's why the 2 Ciara's, Doherty and Kelly left NKM.
I am surprised that Lottie Ryan and Ciara Doherty both had agents. I assumed that Ciara Doherty had been given the Tonight Show job because she was VMTV staff and it would be cheaper to produce. Audiences feel when the dropped Vinny B. and again when Yeats and Cooper left.
I'm surprised the agent took them on their books.
€200 million more in budget is part of the answer why Yie can operate without advertisements.
Other potential reasons - cable companies pay for the carriage of the national broadcaster / the Yie tax is collected by revenue / no loss of income to a collection agency ie An Post
Well Lottie is the daughter of his first client.
Just talking to a mate who lives in Cavan, he said that 20 people had been up in court I think this week for non payment of tv licenses. The judge dismissed all the cases because of the carry on in RTE. Now he loves a story so I do put an * beside it
But interesting he made the comment about mass non payment with people he works/lives with. People are massively pis*rd off and he can see the numbers growing hugely in next 12 months.
interesting times ahead
Yes and businesses pay more, I don't think hotels et al pay any extra in Ireland, single licence covers the hotel no matter the size
Cable/satellite companies should pay some amount for the transmission - after all they charge customers for the privilege of the channels
The Ditch is worse than RTE….
