I personally don’t buy into any of that and I’m driving EV’s since 2012.
Maybe in the early days when we had Renault Fluences and Nissan Leafs. Not nowadays.
The batteries are big enough now and have enough expected cycle life that any impact probably won't be apparent for the first 400,000km.
Also buffers top and bottom!
Well to be fair, why do the MS and MX still have driver displays so?
It's hard to get used to and not as convenient as having it under your line of vision.
I like the car myself, but I feel that for some things like quick climate and wipers you need to take your eyes off the road for too long. Thinking of getting those S3XY buttons to compensate for a couple of things.
climate and wipers can be allocated to long press of the left button on the steering wheel
Voice commands also work perfectly for these functions.e.g. "I am hot", "I am cold", "Set temperature to 20 degrees ", "Turn wipers on/off" etc
Do those extra screens do the nag for autosteer? I find that the warning to move the wheel is too low on the main screen and by the time the blue haze appears on the top it's too late to provide input. An audible cue would be useful. The ID.3 gives audible and highly visual prompts to hold the wheel.
What is "it" in this discussion?
Just speed, right? (as climate and wipers aren't on the binnacle in an ICE car either, and won't show on a HUD)
And wipers are there on the end of the stalk if needed.
"It" would mainly be the speed yes. I'm used to it now but some people are just used to old ways.
Windshield demist and wipers I find are a bit cumbersome to activate quickly. Voice control works fairly well but not always. I'm a bit of a safety nut if I'm honest and I'm looking into the S3XY buttons as an alternative. Happy to pay for the peace of mind. 😀
I find the Tesla speed easier to see than an old fashioned speedo that was regularly blocked by the wheel spokes, or angle of wheel if driving someone else's car and it's also higher up so don't have to look as far down. I'm sure a HUD would be better but never had one to compare.
HUD is good and I feel a Tesla would benefit from it. One thing I miss about the Model S is that the nav gives zoomed in next directions in the dash speedo where as the M3 keeps the larger display on screen.
This is where a HUD would aid if big time.
We should all tweet @Elon and tell him what we want and it will happen. 😉😉
I had a HUD on the Mini, was very handy for the speed display and turn by turn instructions. I think it's one of those things you don't appreciate until you've used it.
So two months in and all going well with the car fingers crossed, I’ve done about 2500 with 132 Wh/km mainly 90% driving around Clondalkin with a few longer spins. Don’t use sentry mode at all never have so no phantom loss at all. I have that Tessie app which I find good for stats but starting to get board looking at that.
edit: had one problem I charged at Sandyford from about 10% to 90% just to experience it and never got charged the Tessie app picked it but the Tesla app never and still have my 150 free kilometres I have not reported it in the app 😂😂
Only thing I’ll say about sentry, is the one time you need it, you’ll be sorry you were not using it.
You can exclude home in the settings so no phantom overnight drain.
Yep pal understand I run that risk. The supercharger one is a strange one though have the charger at home but will pop back across some day to see what happens sure I have to use up my free 150.
One nice new feature with the latest release of Tessie is that it allows to use your apple watch (if you have one) as a bluetooth key.
Regarding range for RWD, started the day with fully charged car driving between Ballincollig/Cork City center/Cobh then back to Dublin on Friday (a rainy/windy day).
300KM of driving with usage 142 Wh/km, back home with 26% which is really good for long motorway driving (Sentry/AC on all day) . very impressed as I didnt have to stop for charging as intially planned at Ballacolla.
Where does the aircon in the MY discharge the water? Is it the front middle of the car? Somewhere around where this hole is?
not bad at all given the conditions.
That's really good efficiency. I'm travelling North Dublin to Kilkenny and back at the weekend, RWD also, and I'm hoping not to have to stop for charge. 280km round trip. ABRP reckons 90%, hoping being over cautious and will have better buffer just incase.
Yu should relax. Not sure why you are worried about a journey of 280km ...thats well within range
Ah yeah I know. 4 months into EV ownership and have only charged at home. would like to leave sentry overnight also, know that would use 8-10% also. But not the worst if have to leave it off either. I would have have thought would be handy enough, until I checked route planners.
What was your average speed for the journey? 400km is the maximum range I'd get from our LR at 120. Although the RWD is more efficient than the LR, I'd hope that the LR still has a few kms more range than the RWD. Otherwise the extra €7k is only useful for overtaking.
Why not charge in Kilkenny preferably at destination or few minutes at a DC charger. They are plenty now in Kilkenny, quite slow but 15 mins would add 20% which would give you piece of mind. When we go to Kilkenny and visit de castle or having a stroll in the city center we park at the city hall cp and charge up there. Very convenient and avoid sitting in the traffic and searching for a parking spot on the street.
Hello all,
Looking for some help here... There is a high-pitched noise (sounds like electrical current noise) in the rear part of my MYLR every time the speed exceeds ~70km/h. At low speed, the noise is not there.
Is this normal, or something that I need to be concerned about?
Thanks.
The electric motor maybe?
Is it very loud, which is a subjective question.?
It is certainly noticeable and I don't think it's the motor, since the noise is intermittent, i.e. it is there most of the time when driving at relatively high/steady speed but its volume drops down occasionally.
Try record it next time on video and you can submit that in app. But maybe submit anyway to get them to confirm it’s ok.
