Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

NAMA sold loans at 97.5% discount to debtors' relative (rte.ie)
As I said, the NAMA scandals will make this stuff look like insignificant. A lot of people made killings. Connected people.
I thought the contribution from Paula Mulolly(?) was a stand out moment, but on reflection maybe it wasn't as It's still a he/she said situation. We really need to hear from Forbes. She could have some grenades to throw into the room.
Maybe someone has paid off her not to attend:)
#NeverForget
T-shirts anyone?
I know how Ryan is getting his fan mail!
I wonder how Noel and Ryan are getting on in London today? They've have had an early start to get to the airport for the first flight out this morning, and then no doubt in back to back meetings all day with the BBC and ITV executives. It's great the BBC and ITV execs cancelled all their scheduled meetings at short notice to accommodate Ryan and Noel at such short notice....the BBC in particular considering all tat's going on there. But I guess it's not often that true global talent makes itself available. I wonder are they staying overnight and more meetings tomorrow, or will they be back this evening? 🙄
I'd say Ryan is exhausted, he's probably put in more hours these past 3 weeks than he does in an average 6-9 month contracted period for him.
Excellent summarisation , I think it was Imelda Muster who pointed out the differences in NK documented evidence and RTES lack of, and when asked why evidencentre hadn't been provided RTE legals said they had handed the documents to Grant Thornton, the retort 'copies would suffice ' summed up the annoyance of the PAC today.
I was one of those young people in the naughties, and Gerry Ryan would have had far more name recognition than Tubridy. We had grown up watching him as the slightly eccentric presenter of "The School around the Corner" and "Secrets", and came across as a naughty uncle compared to the other adults on TV.
I have a vague recollection of being impressed when Tubs was selected unexpectedly as the Rose of Tralee host, simply because he wasn't one of the usual old guard, and a unknown to me at the time. By the time he was announced as Late Late Show host I was already far more sceptical about his abilities.
Will NK invoice Astus for todays trip I wonder :)
One pertinent thing is that Alan Kelly didn't bother asking questions, instead he set out a list of requests, one of which was to provide a full and complete chronological list of events relating to the scandal, to be personally signed by Bakhurst as the DG.
I think it highlighted just how fed up the committee are with the spoofing from the RTE board and the criminal lack of clarity about what actually happened. Multiple hearings later and people still aren't certain about the who, what and why.
But then how could they be when the main culprit slunk off to her bolt-hole on day one.
Cringe 10/10.
Please stop posting that picture. Thanks.
It quite literally makes me feel ill.
Not really she completely lied about
She may have done nothing illegal but she certainly filled her pockets.
Its pure fraud to carry out services in Ireland, paid for by an Irish company, but to route the invoices through a UK broker so as to avoid any VAT being paid.
The only thing saving RTE is that it would be the dumbest tax avoidance in history, since the fees charged by all the agents involved would far exceed any vat liability had they just paid Tubridy directly in the first place.
It would be very hard to argue that they intentionally tried to avoid VAT by using a scheme that cost more than the VAT would have done.
I don't think it can be posted enough TBH. A picture tells a thousand words as they say..........
Just saw the clip on Virgin Media news of Lynch attempting to read out the text message.
They really are in a parallel universe, all of that lot.
That sums it up. I mean what kind of organization is it if they aren't sure what was paid, how it was to be paid and why? Where are the proper records?
What was this about? Another new poster with a "gotcha"?
That first point is very important, a good request.
Haven't seen today's proceedings, but will try and catch up later. Thanks for the summary.
I opened Twitter on Monday morning to be greeted with repeat pictures of a BBC newsreader's bare ar$e.
This picture of Mr Tubridy; a man apparently totally lacking self-awareness, upsets me more. What sort of mind thinks this sort of staged photo would be a good idea? (Rhetorical question, obviously).
No, not at all, it was a complimentary
"Whatever ye did Butters, do it again, this is gold! they're coming out of the walls for ye!"
It was posted after the latest re-reg did what re-regs do.
Yep, that's what I meant, the post you quoted was a reply to a "new account" insulting you.
Another review, this time into BOK's exit package.
Said this yesterday, not as detailed and well put though haha. But yeah that is the sad reality of the situation. I think he will be back on.
In addition RTE cannot provide the audited accounts for previous year, these should be sitting on a shelf.
I think Renault should ask for those gigs to go ahead - no such thing as bad publicity and they could rightly milk this- bet they’re kicking themselves they didn’t have a more solid deal in place at this time.
Another gem today is there are 4 on the audit committee but only two internal auditors....
Only one of them is an accountant.....
It really was ridiculous. Refuses to appear to answer questions she may not want to answer, but texts in to answer one to defend her own redundancy package.
I was hoping in and out due to work.
One bit I caught was RTE's internal auditors didnt pick up on these accounting errors it was the external auditors who did.
This speaks volumes to me about what goes on in there. It was business as usual at Montrose.
As Alan Kelly said we are none the wiser and even more confused which appears to be the tactic from RTE.
In my opinion I'd say RTE wanted to drag this out with drip feeding info to take advantage of the Dail summer holidays.
Looks like there’s a question over whether it’s a contractor status contract …
I just watched it again on RTE and am still shaking my head.
It shows how little respect either she or Lynch have for the whole thing.
Unreal.
It’s clear from the sentiment on this thread that unusually, we’re all pretty much agreed on the performance of the terrible twins this week.
As much as most of our major issues are with RTÉ itself, it’s interesting how a major figure in RTÉ programming hasn’t come out of this debacle with even a minority of support- it’s pretty much overwhelming negative - rightfully so in my view- we’re not easily hoodwinked with talk of “I believe that children are our future” speeches
