Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Lynch may have got his job without an interview and recruitment process but in fairness he's pretty good at dodging and weaving. Something to be said for the process of direct appointment.
We're all getting Catfished on this whole debacle...

Adrian repeating the same line over and over now. Is he NK in disguise?
I'm mispronouncing it now on purpose just to annoy them. Renalt.
Oh sh1t it's the spelling police 🤔
How convenient! Hello Dave or is it Pat or Claire or Duffy :)
RTE getting a right roasting this morning and the mood in the PAC does not match your hopes.
Give us our pound of flesh etc
If Bakhurst doesn't call in the Gardai to investigate the false invoices and fake tripartite scheme, he will have failed in his job to get accountability.
It's a handy government propaganda tool, wouldn't make sense to close it down, when its great at that, would be more expensive to push that to private stations
Getting a roasting? Is that meant to be progress, results, impressive?
They all stepped down with hefty pay-offs and some were due to retire anyways. That's not consequences, that's rewarding them.
I think the legal rep for RTE has already stated that they consulted the Gardai regarding the invoices and no laws were broken by either RTE or NKM, and that the invoices were incorrectly worded and misrepresentative of the works etc, but that there was no theft or illegal profiting from it. It was for works which were agreed to by parties regardless for how the invoices were worded.
Well if 2FM is to be kept, it can no longer lose money. Anything in 2FM that loses money has to be stopped as does the bloated salaries that certain DJ's on there are getting paid.
The two parties colluded in an off the books scheme designed to conceal from auditors and the general public.
The question is who actually owns and funds RTE, because its the owners and funders who have been defrauded. Forbes was an employee of RTE, and never informed her employers. I'd imagine its the non executive board who are technically the owners, but someone will probably confirm that. She concealed these transactions from them.
Dace Fanning has apologised for his remarks.
Second apology in as many weeks.
He's a liability.
I couldn't watch this today, any new revelations?
Although I think Tubs was not being honest in this whole scandal, I feared that this would distract from the fact that RTE is a bloated, entitled, self serving organization. However, it's fair to say that this is coming through in all of the hearings. Lies on both sides.
……
I agree, and while those acts are unethical, against all best practices and deceptive, that doesn't necessarily make them illegal. The reporting and accounting of the payments was deliberately falsified, but the actual payments themselves were legal and contractually obliged, and nobody unlawfully profited from them.
Stanley asking Bakhurst what way RTE will be run with public money. Does the chairman not realise that he who pays the piper calls the tune?
Dreading being cancelled by the mob!
It took Fanning 6 days to apologise for his insensitive snobby remarks about Christy Dignam hours after the man died.
He's been a bit quicker here and perhaps got a call off Noel Kelly to say something.
You could have more than 1 person sitting in an office on a teams call
Yep! took 6 days cos he was getting heat and no choice. Odious individual.
You're arguing for the Government to have it's own fully and tightly controlled broadcasting arm. I know some people think RTE is already that, but the fact is that it does have editorial independence, and editorial independence can only come with a certain level of financial and corporate independence. Yes, there needs to be governance changes, and yes there clearly needs to be changes to how it operates in a commercial sense. But if RTE, or it's proposed successor, were to literally become a core Government operation, we would have much, much bigger problems than inflated salaries.
Invoices to state entitles for 'Consultancy Fees' or services should be subject to Professional Services Withholding Tax.
Individual income tax at the standard rate (currently 20%) is deducted from payments for professional services by government departments, state bodies, and local authorities. Credit is granted for any PSWT withheld against the corporation tax (or income tax for an individual) liability of the accounting period in which tax is withheld.

There is that risk and why retaining a licence fee to the public is a good idea. As the public can then hold them accountable with collective action. Commercial funding is equally risky and conflicted.
Interestingly, RTE are not responding aggressively to Noel Kellys statements from Tuesday. They are actually taking pains to defend him in various ways, and the only counter they have related to one teams meeting that they say did happen between Dee Forbes and Noel Kelly.
They are again getting slated by the committee members and basically getting called bluffers by all and sundry, but whatever hold NKM has over them is clearly still there.
....
Richard Collins a nervous wreck.
