Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Bizarre question.
Why would I want to associated with him? Bananas question.
I've membership elsewhere thank you very much.
RT c/o RTE
Very clearly and definitely the plan.
A good example of why they did it was the questioning by Marie Sherlock and the discrepancy in dates quoted by Noel Kelly relating to Tubridys "paycut". The emails did not match what he was saying. Then you had the contract for years 2-5 that didn't actually exist.
Just imagine what else would have been found had they actually had time to review to documents.
If they were not instructed by RTE.
Hopefully RTE can shed some light on why they were asking NK to send invoices to a UK company.
Agree, should not have been accepted. Just proceed with questions minus document
It is highly likely that Ryan Tubridy has a photographic memory. Can anyone confirm this?
Based on yesterday.
Wouldn't have thought so.
He’s a household name. Most famous broadcaster in Ireland, or infamous now.
What is a celebrity these days anyway?
if it’s a person who is well known publicly, then RT is 100 percent a celebrity.
not sure how you’d dispute this.
hint: it doesn’t mean we love him, or that he’s loved. Is that maybe why you’re disputing it?
and being a celebrity doesn’t necessarily mean you’re revered
He didnt lick that tactic off a stamp the politico Andrews family indeed.
I assume you didn't watch the hearings then, because it was a matter of frustration that Kelly ignored the fact that for many of the questions asked, it didn't matter who instructed them to do it.
One of the TD's actually had to use the old saying: "If he told you to jump off a cliff would you have done it". That is usually reserved for primary school children, that it applied in a committee hearing says everything about the contempt Noel Kelly displayed yesterday.
I would imagine he was pretending not to remember things. I am not stating this based on yesterday.
I can see things slowly get back to normal from now onwards. Some salary caps will be brought in. Some rules on reporting of payments to talent as well as rules on commercial junkets. These over time, however, will be eroded. Ways of working around them will be discovered and arguments will be made that certain of the rules are overly draconian and need to be relaxed.
One fundamental change I think that will last however will be some sort of mandatory broadcasting charge or exchequer funding of RTE. It will be packaged in with other reforms and will have the effect of restoring and accelerating the culture of entitlement within RTE. A lot of people have been saying that they won't be paying the licence fee after this fiasco and reform of the licence will put a stop to that.
"You can see my point. While some questions were repeated, a lot of them were repeated because no straight answers were given, and many others were on the same topic but were not the same question. "Did you send the invoices" is not the same question as "Do you think you should have sent those invoices"
No straight answers were given because those aren't straight questions either.
It's all a stupid performance from a bunch of clowns on both sides. Who cares whether he thought he should have or not. Get a legal team to go over the all the documentation available and pinpoint where the blame lies and with whom. Just deal with the facts and the data.
He did have a better knowledge of the 39 page doc than NK had, and pointed NK to the right page on occasion. Then NK was ridicolous with his fustering.
Just to be specific he said it was his father who schooled him with: "if he told you to put your hand in the fire."
Ridiculous comments from Ciara Kelly saying the BBC story is the real scandal.
She does realise Ireland is a separate country from the UK.
It's for Britain to deal with their own stuff.
I couldn't remember the exact phrasing, and the point remained the same either way so didn't look for the transcript.
I watched it.
That was another waste of the TD's precious ten minutes for questioning.
Apparently two sitting ducks and TD's making childish school yard comments in such a serious matter.
Ryan always knew what page certain information was on.
Ciara is ridiculous most of the time
If anything is the "real" scandal. It's how did Charlene and Ellie's football fever get on RTE.
Tonight Show on Virgin Media leading with and discussing an English story.
The reason there is a thread is because he is employed by a public broadcaster and his wages are paid by us via the licence fee.
When having a Tik Tok or Instagram account = celebrity it just goes to show how much of a celebrity RT is. Self proclaimed and self lauded pretty much like any Tik Tokker or Instagrammer
Forced down the throats of people is more like it, whether you like it or not
The "pack" or "buke" was a prop for them. A crutch in a difficult question like the pale faced "lawyer". A distraction.
It’s quite a story, really. Ticks all the boxes for plenty people. Should not at all be a surprise that Irish media are making it a top story to cover
What would you define as a celebrity?
You are losing credibility if you are claiming Ryan Tubridy isn't a celebrity here in Ireland.
He's one of the biggest celebrities we have. You are delusional if you think otherwise.
You cannot be in media today unless you are programmed to programme the masses.
Just sit at your desk.
Read and paraphrase REUTERs & The Associated Press, copy and paste the pictures.
Top gal. Bingo.
Thanks Lottie.
He's a bit more than a tik tokker or Insta celeb. He's known by pretty much everyone in Ireland. I don't know the name of any tik tokkers.
Being forced down the throats of people is a different matter.
