Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

It was! Whatever the reason.
cheers..
is it getting too hyped that it's turning into a nothing as such!?
I said few threads back it will burn out as the level of hysteria can't be maintained.
end of the day, we're ( tax payer) still non the wiser what was going on, buy ultimately we paid for this.
it's hard to know really what to do here.
They failed if they paid Claire Ronan to help them.
Breda O'Keefe - ex CFO.
Never a good sign of a defence of someone when axe murderer is the first thing you go for. Might want to start lower.
Woosh... Well done, you missed what Stanley was actually at...
I'm too tired to look back but how the fcuk is she even getting mentioned here..
Renards closed down years ago, so should she.
I take it BOK is Breda O'Keeffe.. former employee in RTE ( CFO ? ) and member of Exec Board way back when. Direct conflict of evidence between her and NK to be resolved somehow.
Wow! Binge watching the Oireachtas channel has to be a first!
I'll just leave this here.

Expand on this people of Ireland...
NK looks like he has questions to answer about invoicing a company in England for services which were rendered/to be rendered in Ireland. As the invoice raiser he doesn't get to get away with following orders defence. He is liable to ensure that all invoices he raises are accurate. It's simply not credible to thread the boards for 23 years and play the Nuremberg defence especially as he was not an employee following orders but a separate commercial entity.
I also don't buy Tubridy's defence about not knowing much about his finances. He clearly was eager to gobble up money at every opportunity. Money hungry people tend to know about the details of their finances. To accept money for services not rendered you have be devoid of scruples.
Another problem for Tubridy is the scale of his salary has given him an exalted view of himself. He sees himself as some sort of national treasure. Whilst having good self confidence is essential to all of us as people it does require us to maintain perspective. In Tubridy's defence that has to be hard when you are outrageously remunerated. I'm not surprised he developed an added sense of entitlement. Given his lineage he would have been born with an inherent sense of entitlement but his salary would have sent that skywards.
I'm still struggling to get my head around his 'we're all in this together' spiel as he trousered a wage increase while the majority of his audience were most likely struggling financially.
That's been a very unusual day. Can't really compare it with anything.
Brings me back to October 1990 and Brian Lenihan's sacking etc. Different circumstances but similar drama.
I'm middle aged. I'm not pale or stale. But I am male and proud. And as the Dan Breen I'm familiar with said 'I'll make no apologies to any God nor man' about it.
Tubs had no problem firing out numbers when he was talking about his pay reductions etc
He had no issues when he was talking about the number of donations etc.
Once he was asked about anything else it was the "Me no nothing"
Seems a bit odd that to me
Didn't get to watch very much but absolutely agree with everything you said.
The self-delusion is strong with both Tubridy and Kelly. No wonder I suppose with the success they had over the years, grabbing money left, right and centre, from an extremely ineffectual and badly run RTE.
I saw the clip on the news of Tubridy with his 'fifteen times, my name was mentioned fifteen times. And I was not consulted...DRAMATIC PAUSE...once' .. ends with quavery voice, looks around as though expecting applause. 🙄
He should audition for a part in an amateur dramatic production but he wouldn't get very far.
Ex CFO - before Richard Collins whom I believe was mislead in a big way and very naive in his role.
Its been obvious from the start that Forbes and Kelly were most to blame for this scandal. GOL and BOK have questions to answer though. There is no way RTE can do business with Kelly again after he was found to be colluding in creating fake invoices and concealing the true nature of those invoices.
Fionnan couldn't seem to grasp that tubs got money in advance of doing some gigs! Fionnan never came accross as the brightest but why he goes on live TV to display the fact is beyond me! Remember the time Vincent Browne goaded him into losing the rag!
He couldn't go off script.
More Pinky and the Brain. :)

This is like what I imagine a conversation at a Legion of Mary meeting must have been like back in the day!
Toyman, The Musical
Is Ryan totally playing up this man of the people, lover of children thing or does he actually believe it at this stage?
"Mouth Breathers":
Normally seen outside Marts, in Co-op yards, standing in line at rural funerals/ dole offices/plaque-unveiling ceremonies and in the background of inner-city news reports.
Docile, simple creatures. Rarely travel outside their county borders. Avid Club football supporters. Also known to elect independent TD's, drive Toyota's and weekly readers of Ireland's Own.
Sometimes seen at Croagh Patrick, Knock Basilica and standing outside Eason's on O'Connell Street in Dublin.
How much is NKM paying you? What Fionnan said is so easy to understand and follow, nobody else but you has questioned Fionnan.
As an aside, when Breen was asked about any regrets he had about those he shot during the war of independence he said his only regret was that on occasions his gun jammed! Plain and honest speaking whether you agree with what he says or not is what is badly lacking in today's world.

He said the only regret he had was that he didn't kill more, the number that got away.
