If you were on Tubridy's salary and won't get that salary anywhere else, you might think different.
Even if RTE change the entire policies around pay levels for presenters, Tubridy would still make more money working at RTE than anywhere else.

I suspect they knew it is a bit of a grey area, so why get bogged down in it.
For example, what does contracted to RTE mean? Some people do 200+ radio shows a year, some do adhoc tv appearances here and there, some worked this earlier year but don't currently have anything lined up, are they all contracted to RTE?
Its too easy to burn minutes having the likes of Kelly equivocate and pretend that nobody actually works for RTE at all because contracts end at the end of the day or some other such shite, so why waste time on it.

Just started listening to Nicola Tallant's latest Crimeworld offering on Ryan Tubridy appearing before the Oireachtas Commitee. Tallant feels sorry for him and her two guests think he did enough today to get back on RTE airwaves/tv again. The three of them truly are clueless. Tubridy is now a hate figure in Ireland. The RTE staff required to put his programmes on air are unlikely to facilitate that. Tubridy would have some brass neck to step foot back inside RTE.
Surely even he is not that clueless is he? I remember Charlie telling us to tighten our belts while he bought his charvet shirts. I remember Padraig Flynn's horrible remark about Mr Gilmartin which showed the former to be a nasty piece of work. Even with time I still think Flynn is a horrid little man. Tubridy seems to come from the same nasty entitled mindset.
That could be his 3rd company!
The main takeaway from today is that a lot of TDs and senators are extremely stupid people. One or two of them appear to be actually illiterate. SF in particular seem to have a real shallow pool of talent to draw from.
Its like climate change and covid - what we say in the ruling class is true. If you dont beLIEve it you're cancelled. Also Succession was brilliant and dont say otherwise.
What bewilders me is how RTE treated him like royalty with the salary figures thrown at him and also how anyone could actually enjoys his shows on TV and the radio. He's next to useless as a presenter.

I can't get my head around who Ryan would be paying the €150k back to if he doesn't do the 6 gigs outstanding? Surely the way it's lined up it's Renault as beneficiary of the gigs, however the money appears to have been sourced directly from RTE and sent via Astus to NK Managment who sent it on to RT.

I mean the man was sitting there lying to them (going by his website) so I think it's absolutely a valid criticism that they didn't seem to on know/care.

The big part of today was confirmation from Noel Kelly that no other media in Ireland or the UK was looking to poach Tubridy.
I'm sure the same is for Claire Byrne and Joe Duffy. Their salaries are equally outrageous.
Not this well over 50 lady anyhow. Nor a café full of them when the story broke and the gossip spread, nor when I was working in the libraries and his name would come up among such customers at the desk. I have met hardly a person who actually likes his shtick.
