Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

That's not necessarily the case. I don't think we have seen tubs contract yet and the grounds for termination contained within, or indeed review clauses or the like. RTE consider his contract officially terminated after he quit the late late but there seems to be gentleman's agreement to pay the radio portion.
It isn't clear cut whether tubs is on contract and whether or not he will be back on the radio.
In any case it might matter little what the public think..he needs people to work with him otherwise he has no show. I can't see tubs being all that welcome in Montrose for a good while.
He will probably get a gig on British radio for a bit then fade away.
Apparently Bakhurst is going to ask RTE staff whether they want Tubridy back or not. This is simply farcical. Read the room you idiot. This new guy is as a big a clown as the previous one. Grow a pair, read the room and make an executive decision.
His TV contract is finished. RTE says his radio work contract was under negotiation and currently suspended.
Tubridy/ Kelly claims he has a valid contract but they would, wouldn't they.
Liveline callers very much anti the PAC attack dogs.
And who had the authority to spend tax payer money? RTE.
I am not absolving Kelly, comes across as a slimy character who exploits cracks in the system. But the end goal of this should be to remove those cracks, and the only way to do that is by instituting change in RTE itself.
That Brian Stanley lad wouldn’t be the sharpest tool in the box.
Just as well Tubridy's not a bar of chocolate or he would surely have licked himself out of existence by now
Given how brutal most of the RTE execs were, it has actually helped Tubridy enormously. It is like watching a junior match, then the senior team comes out in the match afterwards.
Tubridy is also extremely lucky in that he never seems to have represented himself, having NK provides distance at the very least - which is what agents are for I suppose.
At the rate things are going though, RTE employees will be posting signed contracts on social media, to show they have 'nothing to hide'.
I thought his contract was up?
Couldn't they just pay him the value of his contract and send him on his way?
Would love it if the PAC could treat Tubridys insincerity like this 🤪

Not if RTE & the government want the public to keep paying TV licences. Maybe if RTE is now funded direct, then they can try putting him back on.
Bottom line is that he took and made a virtue out of a 20% pay cut but knew that he was getting the money anyway in the back pocket. That's being plain dishonest.
If that’s true then it just backs up my point.
I don’t really care about fees that are paid through RTEs commercial earnings so if the majority of high earners are paid though these accounts along with their agent fees, then fair play to them.
Public money shouldn’t be spent on things like agent fees, broadcaster salary etc, but rather programs important socially and culturally to Irish people. But RTEs mismanagement of funds and throwing everything in the same pot makes it really difficult to see what we actually get for our tax money.
Very true. When you accept zero responsibility you lose credibility.
He doesn't.
The invoices were indirectly paid with tax payers money and NK writing invoices to whoever he was told to is fraud .
The only person who has the power to decide whether Tubridy goes back on RTÉ Radio, is Tubridy.
Why? Because RTÉ haven't got a single solitary ground for keeping him off it. Unless they wish to unilaterally break his contract and get sued for the full value + damages.
I thought I'd explain that, so that some people here have time to tape their heads in position, in case they spin clean off their necks when Tubs' voice comes across the wireless in the next few weeks.....
Stanley focused on this last and made a comment to the CAG who was sitting in on proceedings about it .
NKM will be audited after this at the very least , files sent to Revenue and DPP possibly .
These big agents are the ones that would have people out giving briefs and opinion pieces about why direct employment is a bad idea.
overly confident about his prospects of a return to RTE.
Hard to know if he really believes that. Kind of has to keep up the font as part of his "I'm an innocent mon" schtick.
Kelly makes 30% of public money spent on signing and keeping "talent" with RTE
To say it's not about him is bizarre really
RT and NK saying that RT was responsible for generating €150m+ advertising revenue last year and made a point of saying that he was not referring to the licence fees. Yet last week GOL was saying that she was solely responsible for all of the commercial revenue that came in the last few years.
It's funny how RTE as the national broadcaster did not attract any of that revenue itself just by existing and in some cases being the only TV and radio stations that people around the country can listen to. There are some very narcissistic traits in RTE, as they have put a very high (that's an understatement) value on their own self importance, and how much they are worth to RTE. GOL must have been disgusted having to answer to that filthy committee.
Nearlly everyone wants more money. And I say even more would take it
Most companies have a contract clause dealing with an employee bringing their Employer's company into disrepute.
But since Tubridy is treated as an outside contractor, and NK negotiated the contract, probably unlikely.
Found today to be a bit of a side show. The whole point of these meetings is to establish if public funds have been misused and to what extent.
They obviously have been, and severely. But really, that’s on RTE management.
The thing that sticks out for me is that there needs to be clear delineation between RTEs public and commercial accounts. Public purse pay caps and clear guidelines as to what production gets public money. And generally increased scrutiny on the public side of things.
Kelly is a slimeball and Tubridy likely knew more than was letting on, but ultimately it’s not about them, they are not in charge of spending tax payers money.
Trying to work the compo angle
The bit that annoyed me NK has said a few times 'we are just a small company of 8 people....'
Aren't most of them gone though
Never mind Tubridy, any other media person who wants to work with RTE will need to distance themselves from Noel Kelly pretty damn quickly.
He hung RTE even more than Tubridy did.
It put in context how ridiculous the "following instructions" defence is.
He runs his own company who issued the invoice. RTE didn't issue the invoice. He wasn't pushed on the "didn't you consider it odd to send an invoice to a UK company for services rendered in Ireland?"
In my own employer, when we get invoices from providers to be paid, we send them to a division in the Finance Dept. If you don't have a signed contract with the provider, or the name on the invoice doesn't exactly match the contracted party, it'll be sent back to me.
Even if we appoint a new provider for the first time, they need to be set-up on the system and need to provide certain information, VAT number etc.
