Very sad accident with gun.
Let's just say yes, it's the farage-signal and people need entertainment from a few souls willing to sacrifice their remaining credibility.
Nope.
It is already an EU "accession candidate" state, and I think has been for long before the current Erdogan era. A process that has been going nowhere fast.
On contrary though it may not be politic to say it out loud, I think the whole Islam issue and religosity of the Turkish population (vs Europeans, seemingly straying ever further from God's/Allah's light!) is still a big stumbling block (one among many) and counts as a reason why Turkey should not be allowed to join for now.
Quoted for gatling.
Still dug in on the F-16?
So Boris Johnson and the brexit lads were right, Turkey is joining the EU?
Turkey inhabits the creamy nougat middle of a geo-political weird zone where they’re technically Asia but close enough to Europe historically to maybe get into the EU if they weren’t a single party totalitarian state cosplaying as a democracy.
Cyprus are technically in Asia themselves, and are in the EU, while Georgia harbour dreams of membership despite being even more in Asia. But it’s *close enough* to maybe get in.
Quite the turnaround, looks like Turkey is welcoming Sweden in to the NATO family.

This isnt a big deal. Let them apply and begin a twenty year walk to gain EU membership if they reach the criteria. Currently, they are far, far away from anywhere near EU membership.
Most of the country isn't even in Europe. They can apply, but I'm sure Turkey knows they're very far from meeting any sort of membership criteria.
News just in; https://edition.cnn.com/2023/07/10/politics/turkey-sweden-nato/index.html
No definite precondition re Turkey's admission to EU, apparently.
Turkey has been involved in discussions with the EU on membership for a long time. Under Erdogan, this process stalled and went backwards for obvious reasons. So if Sweden now "supports" a Turkish application this is pretty meaningless: membership will ultimately require unanimous support, and presumably there are well-defined creteria fro eventual membership which Turkey will struggle to meet for decades.
What is the objection to Turkey applying for membership of the EU?
Presumably it will have to jump through the same hoops any other country would have to.
Not sure why the EU needs to be any bigger or why Turkey wants to join but you can't set your face against new members unless there are good reasons.(and having an Islamic population cannot count as one)
Edit :is this off topic? If Turkey has agreed to back Sweden's Nato membership then the matter is finished as far as Ukraine is concerned, not so?
@correct horse battery staple, you've been making claims of Russia running out of shells for a year now, along with other dubious predictions.
Rather than continually being wrong, I suggest you hold your water until we see actual evidence that the shell imbalance is being reversed.
So what?
Yeah .....
NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg has said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has agreed to ratify Sweden's accession to to the alliance.
Mr Stoltenberg, Mr Erdogan and Swedish PM Ulf Kristersson met earlier in the day to discuss Turkey's concerns around allowing Sweden to join NATO.
Sweden has reportedly agreed to support Turkey's attempt to join the EU.
Hungary is now the only NATO member who has not yet agreed to Stockholm joining the alliance.
No.
"President Erdogan has agreed to forward the accession protocol for Sweden to the Grand National Assembly [Turkey's parliament] as soon as possible and work closely with the assembly to ensure ratification," Mr Stoltenberg said.
The Nato boss said "Sweden and Turkey have worked closer together to address Turkey's legitimate security concerns.
"As part of that process, Sweden has amended its constitution, changed its laws, significantly expanded its counter -errorism operation against the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party), and resumed its arms exports to Turkey."
Earlier, Mr Erdogan had appeared to suggest Turkey would only back Sweden if the EU re-opened frozen membership talks with Ankara.
But EU officials rejected the demand, saying those were two separate issues.
It's all done on purpose by Erdoğan
He knows full well the EU wont have anything to do with Turkey (rightfully so) so it's an excuse for not letting Sweden into NATO.
Blackmailing Erdoğan fucker
I'd rather they came out and said that the EU is now full ,and there will be no further accessions to the block,
In heaven?
Hopefully the EU sees sense and don't let these fuckers in
Not much sleep so tonight somewhere..
As long as turkey is supported in joining the eu
Turkey will back Swedens bid to join NATO
Tik Tok Troopers ran, those traffic lights must have fought back.
Turkey are looking for some trade deals, if there was a time aspect to Sweden joining NATO then it would have happened already.
That one black hawk helicopter is used in everything even though it's seems to be primarily a vip taxi
I would imagine the video is put out there to signal intent and capability, more so than to directly announce events on the battlefield. The element of surprise in battle is very important.
NATO doesn't have much to do with the EU, so it's not going to work. Erdogan, Stoltenberg and Kristersson (Swedish PM) are meeting right now, so I think we'll hear something new very soon.
Maybe it's going to be something like "Sweden is open to discussing EU membership with Turkey" or something equally meaningless like that. And then Turkey will suddenly validate Sweden's NATO membership.
I don't think it is necessarily predicting anything. Just a comment on the ongoing 'day' of reckoning???
