Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

You cannot as an employer legally refuse a resignation. So essentially nothing can be done.
That’s what he’s getting paid to do- he appears to be making all the right moves so far but let’s hope this doesn’t become all style and no substance
Same ol’ same ol’ then?
His father in law (his wife is deceased) was the former Fine Gael chief whip Fergus O’Brien (also now deceased).
It’s/he’s been discussed at length earlier in the thread.
www.PUBLICjobs.ie - it's in the name.
I'll keep this simple.
IMO, ALL vacancies which exist in ANY organisation which receive money from public coffers to support that job, should be advertised on www.publicjobs.ie. End of nonsense.
It's not rocket science. It's called transparency.
And yet they benefitted from public sector pay increases.
They haven't been fired though I think. They've been removed from the board but will continue to work in RTE.
He did regular fill ins on BBC Radio 2 for a number of years. It all seemed to have stopped in 2014. Digital Spy's radio forum posters were left underwhelmed by him. He admits himself that it was a struggle.
"The biggest challenge was trying to adjust my head to a British audience.
As countries, we are only a small stretch of water apart from each other geographically, but we are oceans apart emotionally and mentally.
We are a very different people, and just trying to adjust to that was the biggest challenge for me."
He'll get offers, but I would be surprised if he's a big hit over there, or even a moderate one.
N'ah - when the new permanent executive board is established, they'll all be gone - including Adrian Lynch
Oh right I see....
I found Richard Collins Linkedin page - his RTE page has already been removed.

But yet after all that we get that level incompetence/cluelessness...
If you are referring to Tubridy, he tried the UK before with mixed results. The reviews are still online. I'm not sure he has the ability to hold an audience like a Wogan, Gay Byrne, Gerry Ryan, etc could.
Good luck to him if he tries it though. Maybe a fresh start abroad is what he and others need. Although he will have to find a new line of questioning to "So tell us about your Irish roots".
Ffs ah - that's frustrating. She holds a lot of the answers. And also needs to answer on her own freeloading from the taxpayer.
Great, I look forward to be surprised. Good luck to Tubridy with the new job in the UK and good riddance.
i would have thought your average Audi driver would have been quite proud to have her fly the boy 'er girl racer flag.
Is 5,000 on flip flops precedented? I don’t think what’s usual for out going board members applies in this situation?
what’s next RT back on air…
I think people are missing the point by focusing on all of the big names here. The problem is systematic waste, entitlement and inefficiency at all levels of the organization. A relation there was an intern for a while and she described situations where it was nearly impossible to get a whole camera team in at the same time. Everything needs to change. My fear is that by focusing only on the big names we're ignoring the huge waste that occurs throughout RTE.
And I think that's the difference between the really great broadcasters and not so great, the ability to do it anywhere and in any country.
Forming a connection to your audience is massive in radio.
Wogan, Norton etc had and have that ability.
i agree it isn't the reality.
But it should be.
EVERY corporation/company/entity/group/fellowship who receive public money to provide jobs in their entity should have to advertise on www.publicjobs.ie to ensure tranpsarency.
Govt have the power to insist this happens when it comes time to give funds to that entity. Oh yeah, here's your 180million but from now on, you have to ADVERTISE your vacancies on www.publicjobs.ie - take it or leave it.
Virgin Media say they will broadcast the Committee hearing with a news special tomorrow.
i can assure you that they may not have been “fired” in the US sense of the word and what you see on tv but they won’t be back in RTÉ. You can’t “fire” someone at that level in Ireland.
Coveney and O’Leary were not officially fired, but clearly they were told their positions were untenable and they resigned. This line that they “resigned” is common in corporate world, but everyone knows what happened. A jump before they were pushed type of thing. Even O’Leary said she hadn’t planned to go early.
Collins is the one in deep doo doo as CFO however. He could I believe be sacked for his enormous failures in the performance of his duties. I suspect however he too will “resign” before that happens..
It’s also nigh on impossible culturally and from a work / HR perspective to have some who was for example the CFO last week now report into someone who was junior to him last week.
Think you're being harsh on Collins. He was no more incompetent than the previous CFO. He asked for the barter account details to be brought in house. The previous CFO was happy for it to be off the books. The issues with NKM and Tubridy were there for years before he joined and he came into the middle of the negotiations. What exactly did he do any worse than the previous CFO who in my book was more culpable.
All of those with huge questions to answer have been allowed retire early and/or with massive payoffs - Forbes, GOL, Breda O'Keefe.
like i said it's not just RTE that has a few skeletons hidden under the floorboards.
dig deep enough and there are very few large corporations that do not, but we Irish do love a bit of moral self-flagellation.
Admit it @ButtersSuki
you are Kevin
They didn't. RTE staff pay is negotiated independently between RTE management and RTÉ Trade Union Group that comprises of the various unions that represent the staff. It's completely separate from the Public Service pay negotiations.
Current CFO getting the blame for all the shady shite that went on when the old CFO was in place and buried her head and let it go on
why didn’t the old CFO let the auditors check what was going on in these accounts and why did she allow the junkets without saying anything?
Try this
i'd love to see O'Leary and or Collins properly reprimanded.. its actually disgusting what she was at..
And of course the Savage eye some of the best content RTE ever showed has been taken off the player and is now unsearchable except for clips already uploaded to YouTube. For some reason RTE don't see fit to do reruns of this like they do with Killnaskully et al.
Mcsavage was born into the golden circle but he savaged all the nepotistic links that everyone else took advantage of
OK I misread an article on that one, its negotiated separately with 6% increase over 2 years negotiated last year.
