RTE isn't part of the Public Service, though. It's a "statutory corporation", which is similar to a limited company, but is set up and governed under specific legislation.
I think a lot of the debate around RTE assumes that they're all public servants, or should be treated like public servants, working there. This just isn't the reality at all.

I predicted on here yesterday O’Leary and Collins would be gone and Lynch would remain.
It would have been nigh on impossible to remove Lynch AS WELL AS the CFO and Head of Sales/Commercial. I know some of you think he’s being very lenient here but as someone who works at Director Level to lose/remove/fire your CFO and Head of Sales/Commercial on the same day is very rare, to lose the guy acting as Interim DG too would be pretty much unprecedented. There were always going to some who remained, and Lynch was always the favourite. I’m not endorsing him or his appearances before the PAC btw, I think he’s been atrocious.
O’Leary will be fine. She was retiring in 7 weeks anyway. Crucially however, and this is important, her resignation/“retiring” will remove the PAC’s ability to request her to attend before them again as part of an RTÉ attendance. She can request a meeting as a private citizen or can be asked to attend, but the compulsion element is now gone.
Collins however will really struggle. He’s taken an awful lot of flak for this and ultimately any kind of financial wrongdoing is on him. His performances before the PAC will have doomed him professionally however. He won’t be getting a €200k a year job again.

Re Richard Collins CFO - how did he get the job? Connections, luck? Work his way up the ladder? I have never seen a person as poor/evasive in any post. Anyone any background on him? Previous employment etc.
