Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

I don't get it. Was she made redundant or what?
She is retiring in 7 weeks so doesn't care. I guarantee you she has plenty to hide and wants out. She was the biggest liar at the Oireachtas committees thus far.
She may play the mental health card this week and clam up for the 7 weeks and then cannot be touched.
When the father died there were rumors that a scandal was going to break about him. But once dead in Irish tradition he was a great lad.
Gerry Ryan's godfather/Uncle was Eamon Andrews, who was Chairman of the Radio Eireann Authority in the 60's.
Cathal Murray nephew of Colm Murray
2fm producer Lindy Clarke is the daughter of the former head of 2fm John Clarke
Des Cahill mentioned in an interview with Pat Kenny a couple of months ago that his son is a producer on the Sunday Game
No idea far above my pay grade but if there is any suggestion I am sure they will be on it
I believe Ian Dempsey's brother is in RTE HR, so there is another connection.
It seems like she was given a golden handshake as she had started asking too many questions about Tubridy pay deal and was looking for an actual pay cut etc.
She would not have signed off on the under the counter payments - at least according to her statement.
So they replaced her with a new CFO who they thought would be more pliant / go along with the flow.
But the new CFO though seeming out of his depth ultimately blew the lid on the shenanigans by bringing the barter account to audit attention.
Noel Kelly or Tubs could enter to this.
She’s retiring in 7 weeks. Even if she survives….she’s gone at the end of August anyway. But that’s a potentially double-edged sword for the DG. If he sacks/removes her people will say “she was retiring next month”. If he doesn’t they’ll say “look at what she got away with and all the junkets she brought the hubby on*” etc.
What the DG will be weighing up now is the PR “cost” of another “resignation” (pre-sacking resignation) and the optics of same. The mental health card played last week might be her saving grace….
If I were a gambling man (which I’m not), I would bet she might retire a little earlier than planned, but with these people who knows?
* on the “+1” policy she mentioned that she formulated. I understand if you’re inviting guests you might have a +1 for some (but not all) events. What I find very weird and strange about it is that she thought as the host it’s ok for her to have a +1 too - that’s not by any means normal. And it seemed to be for all the major events. RTÉ, i.e. us, ultimately paid for his trips, concert tickets, meals, bus from one part of Drumcondra to another part of Drumcondra etc etc
It will be very interesting if some of the 372 pages here are echoed on Monday and Tuesday.
Claire Byrne and Joe Duffy could sing it as they sashay in.
And of course this one from 1999 ish..
I'm sure the new DG will accept retirements. Clears the decks.
Worth listening back to this. NK got 150,000 for providing advice on how to deal with agents during Covid. An agent giving advice on how to deal with agents?? The DG wanted NK to provide advice on how RTE should be structured during Covid. The power this man had is incredible. I find it disgusting that people would use Covid to make money off the taxpayer.
A "good" resignation? :)
Regards...jmcc
It probably looks a little better on the CV to say you voluntarily left your position rather than you were sacked - that's why Coveney jumped ship today.
If any of these are looking for positions/cushy numbers, people won't need their CV to know.
I’m no fan of NK but this is not correct. This was a story Dee Forbes invented to explain the payment to Tubridy when the auditors queried them
If you acted the maggot all day no breaks for years on end and look like Skeletor's wife from He-Man and its all normal behaviour in her value system she'll be grand.
Is that the 150k NK sent in a false 'consultancy services' invoice for?
To explain the 'consultancy invoice'.
Yes but the 150k went to Tubridy not to NK. There was no Covid advice
Exactly
...
Yes that was very dubious and needs further explanation. You can't make a person redundant, you have to make the role redundant, which clearly didn't happen.
Tubridy has two choices on Tuesday.
1. Admit everything and come clean about any other hidden payments. Offer to give back the payments.
2. Deny everything, rehash his statements, blame others including Forbes.
To take the second approach would be disastrous and career ending for him in RTE.
No matter what RT does, his career in RTE is over.
Well you can but you can't rehire the same position for 2 years IIRC and other reasons can be a reason to rehire (but not the case here)
The PAC on Tuesday will be an interesting affair.
Picture the scene - Committee members nattering amongst themselves, waiting patiently for Noel Kelly to arrive. Door creaks open, silence descends - A disco ball starts to spin overhead as the lights dim - The Jam's, 'That's Entertainment' fires up on the PA. Noel enters the room pushing a wheelbarrow cradling his scrotum followed by an entourage of scantily clad rides. Noel works the room...shaking the Committee members hands, slipping a wedge of cash into their shirt pockets. The committee members blush pretending this is the first time they've ever met Noel
The music stops - Noel takes a seat (a special seat with velvet bollock cupping indents) as the girls leave the room with a minimum of 6 TD's phone numbers tucked into their bra's - Silence
The door creaks open - Ryan enters sheepishly with his underpants on his head and a pencil hanging from each nostril...
Not exactly accurate. The auditors brought it to his attention first and asked questions he was unable to answer, he asked Forbes to clarify, the auditors were unhappy with her explanation and here we are.
