Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Methinks he's talking about RTE
The post I was replying to was where someone asked a question about staff being related rather than a conflict of interest situation.
If you are related to someone, e.g. someone's wife, then you can't be banned from a job under the legislation. That's clear, marital status is one of the protected categories.
Looking at the definition of Family Status, I was mistaken on its meaning so apologies for that.
Regarding rules around interview panels. It's very difficult to ensure a level playing field. I'm not talking about pulling strokes here and trying to influence the interview panel but it's quite easy for someone in an organisation to help coach their siblings/friends/relatives for an interview in that organisation. It might possibly give them some inside knowledge and therefore give them an advantage when going for the job. I freely admit that I've helped friends to prepare for an interview in the organisation that I'm a part of. And when I was going for my interview, I know I asked every friend I knew who worked there for as much information as possible.
Put the 'talent' on Civil Service wages..ends all the crap.
Still nepotism. All companies are like that. But they want all the community to buy their products.
Marital status is protected. You cant not hire someone just because they are married.
But where are you seeing something specific about it protecting who you are married or related to?
Put the civil service on the “talent” wages.
Like a match! Go on Marie Sherlock, jaysus Mattie would you get tighter on Tubridy he's causing havoc at the back😅 Ah ffs ref NK was a mile offside.
Reeling in 2020 and 2021 they can put up the old rte test card for most of the show!
No, I don't see something specific about it protecting who you are married to. But it still stops discrimination against you if you are married to someone in an organisation and that organisation has a policy of not hiring spouses of employees, i.e. they won't give you an interview because your spouse works in the organisation.
I'm open to correction but my reading of it is that you can't penalise someone for either being married or not being married, full stop. Therefore it would prevent a company from discriminating against someone whose spouse works in the same organisation. It's not specifically written to say you can't bar someone's spouse from applying for a job, but ultimately it would make such a decision illegal because the company would be banning someone because they are married.
I've already admitted I was wrong about the related part of my previous post.
Why do the oireachtas not also bring in lawyers ?
our public representatives are a disgrace and a joke.
there are some good performer like Munster, Griffin, Carrigy but that’s it
Why don't we all chip in with some RTE connections. I'll go first:
Philip Boucher Hayes (RTE Countrywide) is a nephew of Myles Dungan (RTE Rattlebag, Drive Time, Presenter etc.. retired)
Eileen Dunne (Newsreader, retired) daughter of Mick Dunne (RTE commentator, sports)
Ryan Tubridy (former LLS presenter) started paid employment in RTE aged 12 grandson of Todd Andrews ( chair of RTE Authority)
Lottie Ryan (2fm) daughter of Gerry Ryan (2fm)
Mike Ryan (various roles in RTE, engineer, DJ, continuity) brother of Gerry Ryan
Doireann Garrihy (2fm) god daughter of Ian Dempsey (formerly 2fm)
Paul Magee (RTE sport) son of Jimmy Magee (RTE Sport)
Miriam O'Callaghan (Prime time) ex wife of Tom McGurk
I'm not suggesting anything about the work of these people. I'm only pointing out familial relationships.
There could be a whole other thread about RTE personnel and their links with other, non RTE, influential people.
He had those qualities in abundance 🤣🤣🤣
Marital status is now called civil status - so single, married, divorced, same sex relationship etc. It would be illegal for an employer to discriminate against a divorced person because the employer is religious etc.
It's not illegal to hire a family member, but organisations should advertise positions and hold competitive interviews, it would be illegal to employ person A because they're related to you when person B was demonstrably more qualified and experienced.
We all know that doesn't always happen in the real world, but RTE is reliant on state and licence fee funding and should be playing by the rules. They're not, and Lottie Ryan is proof of that.
The Committee members have been briefed by lawyers, as per 'The Week in Politics'.
We could go full circle and have a session of Gogglebox filming people in pubs watching the PAC.
"members of the Public Accounts Committee will get a "legal briefing" from the Office of the Parliamentary Legal Adviser half an hour before they are due to meet with Ryan Tubridy and his agent Noel Kelly next Tuesday"
https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/politics/ryan-tubridy-and-noel-kelly-will-have-solicitors-when-they-face-oireachtas-questions-on-rte-pay-controversy/a1196963737.html
**** RTE might aswell just be called Noel Kelly and Associates.
Tubridy on Tuesday
And a small family owned business is the same as a National broadcaster...naturally.
Tubs should sashay in performing one of his song and dance routines, he'd clear the building before he had to answer anything.
I'm all in favour of that😅
Money, Money, Money or Send in the clowns would be good
I really hope they put you in charge of RTE and they can keep it in the family.
Lottie to anchor all radio shows.
Bonnie Ryan to host Prime Time.
Babette to do all news Bulletins.
Rex to do The Late Late Show.
Elliott to fill in every where.
We can also wheel out Susie and Crona Byrne when there on holidays.
Miriam's lot could do Fair City.
And a Tom Cruise impression for NK.
I have several times. Nepotism is the reason entitlement thrives. When people get jobs based on who their family they're hardly going to care as much about the job are they. They'll also be hesitant to call out the corruption because other family members are likely involved.
All positions should be advertised online. But “recruiters” could be another fly in the ointment, as I’ve heard of cases of recruitment being done by a personal friend of jobseeker without anything other than a 20 minute phone call from a single local manager in the institution. One case I know more details of didn’t get past senior heads, though, and offer was redacted. But it demos what kind of stuff generally goes on and this would very likely pervade into RTE even if jobs were advertised, unless very stringent oversight was involved.
Can anyone think of a suitable musical for his theme song & dance as he enters the chamber.
There’ll be two extremely busy threads on Tuesday, this one and Liveline hosted by Joe Duffy unless the latter hasn’t gone down history lane if there happens to be some vague distracting historical anniversary that nobody gives a toss about that day.
Fiddler on the roof of RTE - If I were a rich man.
Money money money - abba
Or
Money for nothing - Dire Straits
Where I work (Revenue) people going out are kept away from the same section if possible but is a definite to happen if the people are engaged or married/civil partnership
That is even not going in to if you are shown to check up people you know or celebs. Anything you do has your ID on it
