Not a good look. I wonder did he go because this was going to come to light?

Yeah saw by googling an old tweet from Ian
aha, not his da
Ian Dempsey is not his son. Wikipedia is incorrect.
Great life for people at this level isn't it.
If you're doing a low level job in the private sector and squander a few quid thru incompetence, goodnight. If you're a director of strategy for RTE, you can lose a couple of million and "resign" with full entitlements and a glowing reference from the boss.
Could happen but I would argue extremely unlikely.
If only for the fact that once this process is over salaries will be greatly reduced at the top, and of course he will be able get half a mill plus with another employer..........
it’s bordering on, if not actually threatening in itself. If this were a private company I’d understand a little better. For the state broadcaster to issue a response like to a journalist is disgraceful.
And let us note that the incredibly expensive Brendan O'Connor is, once again, ON LEAVE this weekend.
That smells of something that was penned by someone from their legal dept.
The Andrews weren’t gaa people?
Neither did I. He featured on Mike Murphy’s TV & hidden camera sketches.
What question did Hugh ask to get such a dare I say it unprofessional and aggressive response? Normally if you’re going to say “we don’t comment on individual employees” you leave it at that. To add extra to that suggests they’ve struck a chord there.
extra: I see it now:
That reply though? It’s so blunt and terse. As I said, completely unprofessional.
I would say this is exactly why Dee Forbes was so comfortable approaching Govt looking for cash when the auditors where all over them!
RTE response to journalist Hugh O’Connell on Friday night:
Some people believe this action will prevent the Grant Thornton inquiry into the musical. But I don't think so. It should still go ahead. Very important it does. Very. Important.
Ah I wouldn't worry too much about Rory. These fellas are like cats, thru always land on their feet.
What happened today is he was fired, but it’s been dressed up to make it look like he resigned. The new DG said there was no future for him under his watch but it’s being passed off as a resignation to Dave face on all sides. Make no mistake he’ll be fully paid off under the terms of this “resignation”.
That’s what happens at this level. When answering questions last week did he look like a fella about to resign? He did in his ________ (I’ll let you fill in your own blanks).
I doubt he will be the last member of the Exec. to “resign” with immediate effect.
He didn’t jump, he was pushed.
RTE reported he resigned with immediate effect, same as the all-knowing Dee Forbes.
In my experience, somebody at the level of Rory may well have a three or more likely six month notice period. What's the betting he'll be paid for that and effectively be on "gardening leave"?
They had a huge cast of adults and children, but it was so poorly planned (understudies etc), that when they had some illnesses they had to cancel an entire weekend of shows and refund approx 6k tickets. It was a shambles, in a venue that I have literally never heard of hosting stage shows...and for a reason.
He is not.
ians dad used to work for the revenue commission
Geary and Cantwell.
I did not either. I loved fortycoats!
Yes.
He was asked a number of questions especially on the toy show musical clusterf#ck.
I am guessing you mean the panel for the semi final in the hurling, who are the 2. Geary was in the panel for the camogie. Is she 1 also.
Nobody's mentioned nepotism yet in all of this scandal.
The canteen must be like a Christmas dinner.
I didn't know Ian Dempsey was Fran's son!
I'd say Geraldine will be online first thing tomorrow looking for a GP appointment..
I cant believe the word Bribe has not been mention in relation to the Japan trip.
Maybe it has?
Most companies have an Anti bribery and corruption policy
RTe have RTÉ CODE OF BUSINESS CONDUCT 2022
It mentions:
2.2 Bribery and Corruption
"The Criminal Justice (Corruption Offences) Act 2018 makes it an offense for any person to corruptly offer, give to, or accept from a person, a "gift, consideration or advantage"
as an inducement to, reward for, or on account of any person doing an act in relation to their office, employment, position or business.
Refer to the RTÉ Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy for further details and guidance."
Now Geraldine might have though the recipients deserved a trip to Japan, but most companies would consider a gift of that magnitude excessive.
Nice to get though and great to tag along!
I did not know who Doireann Garrihy was, I had to look her [The Garrihy sisters] up. Her wikipedia page would make you a little sick. I believe she or they are also related to somebody that used to be high up in RTE? Her Godfather is Ian Dempsey, who's father was Fortycoats, and now he has his own son working in Today FM.. Wow. Is there some sort of map of all the connections it is crazy.
But back to the wikipedia page and this is not the worst or only part
Doireann began a deal worth thousands of euro to promote Flahavan's in February 2022, when she was paid to post on social media; however, this got Doireann into trouble when she used an RTÉ studio without permission to promote Flahavan's products; for a year and half, Doireann refused RTÉ's attempts to take the promotion down, until it was noticed by a newspaper in 2023.[28]
How could RTE not force her to take it down for a year and a half? I do not know who she is but I suspect she is fairly low down on the 'talent' list, and just decided to ignore her bosses for a year and a half, also doing other things. Is it because she thinks her social media influencing is better or bigger than RTE? If I ignored my boss for a week I would have no job to go back to.
The West End, Broadway, a residency in Vegas ... 🤭
